He’s still getting better. Consistency last year was a step up when we really needed him. Great player and club man. Disappoints me Carlton failed to give him the chance of success he deserved.

Essentially he was more professional than the club during his time.

What a class act. I will always remember the two games against Port Adelaide & Geelong at Etihad last year. I took my uninterested 7 year old to the Essendon game which we won so he agreed to go again but it was those two games against Port & Geelong where Gibbs absolutely dominated that had strangers high giving and lifting him up in joy that had my little guy hooked.

I now have a Carlton nut on my hands so a big thanks to Gibbsy I will always be grateful for getting him over the line.

Can't say I have ever had time for Carlton fans after issues that used to come up at Princes Park when I went to games as a kid to watch the Crows - and didnt really give you a second thought when I heard we could get Bryce to our club. Listening to Bryce today and reading many of the messages about his time as a Blue has changed my opinion after all these years. I don't think we as Adelaide supporters - even after losing high profile players these last few years - really appreciate taking a "heart and soul" player from your club. We may find out next year with Sloane.
I hope for the Blues that the trade today works like the move Adelaide did a few years ago when we moved on Bernie Vince - and picked up Matt Crouch

Good luck
classy post - after all is said and done, it's just a game folks..........*assumes the brace position*..........

Geez it was rough watching that Gibbs interview, it's fair to say us supporters would be the worst list managers, far too bloody sentimental!

That being said I can't help but feel that everything has worked out as well as it possibly could have. Had Gibbs gone last year; I would have resented him for pulling the wool over our eyes during trade week and not letting us reap just reward for his departure. I pictured Grigg levels of disdain, only worse, cos Bryce is good at football.

As it stands we managed to keep Gibbs for one more year; a year that may ultimately provide invaluable lessons to SPS, Cuningham, Polson etc. To top it all off the good old crows coughed up more or less exactly what we demanded 12 months ago, and even the biggest Gibbs fan must accept that his departure has helped our football club in the long term. To top it off, his class all year and on departure ensures that he will never be seen as a villain in the eyes of any reasonable blues fan.

Fare thee well Bryce and thanks for letting us follow your journey, it was a pleasure to see you develop into what you are today. You were a kid who got drafted to almost the worst football club imaginable at the time; and whilst many talented players were ruined by Carltons darkest days, your class and determination shone through. When you dominate for the crows next year my smile will not be totally genuine, but it won't be totally fake either. Cheers Gibba!!

Just saw his presser from earlier today - it was a pretty raw and genuine display of affection for the CFC. Just seeing this, and hearing Eddie talk fondly still about his time with the Blues, your club clearly has a strong culture and environment.

Is great to see a player and club part ways with such mutual respect.

Wish BG all the best and thank him for everything he gave to the club.

Feel a little hollow now but know all will easier when I see pick 3 / 10, Kennedy and Lang line up in round 1.

I had a real feeling of sadness when the breaking news came up this morning flagging Bryce's trade to the Crows.

I don't know exactly why I adopted Bryce as my favorite player, but gee I have enjoyed riding the ups & downs of his career at Carlton.

I always maintained that he was the most talented of our 3 consecutive #1 draft picks. His kicking was very good, he could take a strong overhead mark, he was quite handy in front of goals & he didn't mind laying a tackle.

He has been much maligned by some Carlton & many opposition supporters & unfairly accused of being soft on the back of one incident which occurred very early in his career. He was guilty of doing nothing more than what many, many highly credentialled AFL players had done before & since, yet if you were to watch all of his 231 games at Carlton you would soon realise he spent as much time putting his body into contested situations as any of his teammates.

Bryce brought a real touch of class/polish to our team during a time when we had a lot of good, ordinary players running around. His performances against some of the best teams in the competition stamped him as being among our upper echelon of players. Who could ever forget the night he went head to head with Joel Selwood & absolutely spanked him. Or last year's 34 disposal performance in our win against the Cats. Then there was the last round clash versus Port in 2013, when he dragged us back into the game after Port had dominated proceedings & then he backed it up the following week in the EF against the Tigers, keeping us close enough to make a 2nd half comeback possible.

There is no doubt Bryce's departure will leave a sizeable hole in our midfield, but I wish him all the best for his future at the Crows. Hearing that he shed some tears when advising some of his teammates of his move back to SA only served to confirm what a great Carlton man Bryce is & even in his interview aired on the news tonight, you could hear that he was close to tears when talking of the move.

Well done Bryce, you have served our club with distinction. Go well (except when playing Carlton).

Not afraid to admit but i actually chocked up and got a little tear in my eye :'(watching gibbsy interview i really hope he gets to win a flag in the next yr or two along with eddie two of my all time favorites
his Insta post got me, to see him getting teary in the prsser shows just how much the club means to him. will always be bound by blue

All round professional. Onya Gibba.

Fantastic servant of the club and life member. The way he came back this year after last year's trade week and played some super footy speaks volumes of his character. Didn't sook it up, didn't blame the club, just got on with it.

Can see him finishing very high in next year's Brownlow with silver service from Sauce Jacobs and inside protection from Sloane and the Crouch brothers.

I honestly want to see the Crows win a premiership now, simply because I want to see Gibbs and Eddie with medals around their necks.
**** that
