Yep he could make it as a mid so lets sell the farm and throw in our souls as a sweetener for him.
Exactly! What would that Mick Ablett guy know? He probably hasn't even watched him play live and just basing it on YouTube videos. If he was National Talent Watcher I might respect his assessment a bit more.

What makes you the expert of what Freo,s list needs are. We all have an opinion and are entitled to it. Its a forum for just that. Also your attempts to hide ridiculing posters with what you perceive as a version of sarcastic humour is also **cking boring.;)

What do we have to sell? We already have the picks to get him.

PS. I would consider getting Naughton at #5 closer to selling the farm

Who cares ,I think Naughton would be a good get at 5. You obviously dont , so lets shoot any one who dares to differ. FFS its a discussion forum. So discuss.

Don't respond to my posts if you can't handle the banter in return. You bite more often than Masten :)

you do realise that you just posted a sarcastic remark like 30mins ago

I haven't been online much - but I'm going to take the time now to say something since I'm sick and tired of seeing this back and forth Naughton nonsense every time I have a chance to skim through this thread.

Last year our club and recruiters killed it - we picked up 3 players who 12 months on will be first picked B22 players (Logue / Darcy / Ryan) - This year we have 2, 5, 42 and 60. We have the potential of adding another 3 (Hopefully) first picked B22 walk ins by the halfway point of the 2018 season. Our club are the only ones who have the right eyes for our lists needs and potential stocks and I have faith they will use #2 and #5 as effectively as possible.

I know as supporters having Pick 2 and 5 can be stressful since you want the best possible outcome and you think you know what we need - but let's just take a breather and not get all protective and restless over it.

Sure I have personal preferences but the reasoning is never from an expert standpoint - more so I tunnel vision one aspect on-field that has leaks and just think of the first solution. The club is looking at every little situation in every single position on every part of that list.

So before people continue to mindlessly brush off Naughton then question the following:

Do we know if Naughton and the club have spoken and agreed to have him developed as a forward long-term?
Do we know if Cox will be going down to the back-line or not as his career goes on?
Do we know if Collins was moved on because we had planned to pick up Naughton?
Do we know if Alex Pearce will be a full-time footballer again?
Do we know if Johnson will play more than 10 games next year?
Do we know if Pick 2 was forced so we could get away with securing Naughton at 5?

Do we even know what the club is talking about between the four walls?!

The answer to those questions - we have NFI.

If the club thinks we take Naughton at 5 then we take him at 5. There is no need to get toxic and immature whenever his name pops up in this thread. The more I think about it also - we need KP stocks regardless so we may as well take the best at 5 because we will get better midfielders at 42 and 60 than KPs.

It's all just a bit of banter. I doubt more than a handful are taking comments on here too seriously. Especially when they dish out the sarcastica font themselves pretty regularly.

In this draft there are potentially a lot of KP prospects in that 42+ draft range. Highly speculative of course but so too are mids when taken in that range. Should also note that Alex Pearce was taken with pick #37, Joel Hamling pick #32 (not by us though), Brennan Cox with pick #41, and Sean Darcy with pick #38. So I don't think us drafting another decent KPP prospect at #42 would be completely out of the question.

Lloyd has said best available multiple times and that's what I am still expecting. Maybe Brander or Naughton is seen as best available at #5 by them? And if that's the case I'm sure most of us will accept it (eventually) and move on. A whole heap of people were adamant English was the best prospect at our pick #8 last year because we 'desperately' needed a ruck - I similarly disagreed at the time as I thought we could spend a later pick on one. Others (including me) wanted best mid. We ended up with an athletic utility (draft bolter) who the club (has said it) intends to develop into a key back. I'm still a bit nervous about the Logue pick (more so than all our other picks last year) but I get their thinking and am backing them in to moulding him into a great player.

Day 1 of Pre Season is before the draft from memory. If Alex Pearce is there day 1 and running laps, then it's a great sign. If hes in good nick, it could be a sign that hes ready to go, so no need for Naughton. If Pearce gets most of the pre season in, bookmark him for Round One.
AP could have played last year but club decided no point in coming back late in season. Leg fine, ready for pre season and barring mishap will be ready for round 1. Will be at Freo for a while yet. Take it to the bank!!!

Kids due back next week!!! Get excited!!!

Thanks for the update Freddie !
I'm off to buy some new pants after splitting these ones ......

Phantom Draft update:

1. Rayner
2. LDU
3. Dow
4. Cerra
5. Brayshow
6. Coffield
7. Stephenson
8. Fogarty
9. Bonar
10. Constable

Based on no evidence, purely gut instinct, right now I don't think Brisbane will take Rayner.

They'll either take Dow or Rayner. North will take whoever is left out of: Cerra, Dow, LDU and Rayner. Who we take at 5 will shape the top 10, and my gut tells me it will be one of: Brayshaw, Fogarty or Stephenson.

I don't think Collingwood will take a KPD either. They are moving Moore into defence, so I could see them taking Stephenson or Coffield.

Saints will take best available mids. If Fogarty makes it to 10 then Carlton will grab him. SOS tends to draft good kickers.

It might be possible that Naughton falls out of the top 10.

Have you been playing knucklebones DB ? On the way out Naughton will hit the trampolene and bounce right back in :D

Seriously though, 5 to 10 may spring some surprises re the bigger fellas and I don't mean Brander. Is good to watch the stuff some of these guys are doing when they don't necessarily take possession of the ball and also in their creating opportunities etc for teamates.

I can easily see one of the big guys (Allen, Hayes or Brander) sliding, much like Battle and Rotham did in their draft. I have no evidence to back this up, just a gut feel. They all don’t look to be exceptional talents and if you picked up another big player around the 45-60 mark, are they going to be that much worse?

I would've thought they'd go LDU myself.

Lloyd has said that they like the talls that will be available with the later picks in the draft

I have dreams of us picking somebody at 42 who goes on to be a jet KPF...but then I remember that sort of thing happens rather infrequently.

Reckon there will be a couple of good KPDs available at 42. Clavarino, Taylor, that SA guy who's name I can't remember.

For the record I am hoping for Krueger.
