Yeah and the silly thing is it totally is! I have seen very little if any of Taylor but was asked to look at players a bit this year in SA and one of the games in particular I was taking notes at he was awesome.

I don't think we'd reach for a player like Zac Bailey at 24 personally, I really like the way he goes about it but that kicking is a big worry for me looks to struggle to kick 40m that being said looking at his highlights does remind me of Luke Parker a bit.

Incorrect. Penetration in his kicking is not an issue. Seen him kick running goals from 50. I have actually given it quite some thought and looked back at notes and I think whilst the technique is far from perfect it is pretty sound and with time in an elite system could get a lot better.

The problem with bailey from that vision is he gets caught a lot. He’s not quite quick enough to break away, he gets into trouble and is forced to dish it off to a team mate under pressure.

No where near Parfitt at the same age. Parfitt had much more composure and a great side step to create more time. Bailey looks rushed and gets caught.

He’s only get caught more at AFL.

Not worth an early pick for mine. I’d consider him with 35 onwards.

Also incorrect. He is very very quick and has fantastic acceleration. That, his sidestep and his don't argue are his main attributes. He also hits stoppages at real pace. He is always on the move a la judd when the ruckman is tapping it down. and has the ability to explode out of stoppages like few in this draft that I have seen. Definitely tries to do to much on occassion and needs to get that out of his game because he will get caught more at the next level. However it is because he is so good at just making players miss that I think he gets carried away. He does rush sometimes and needs to learn composure but I really feel they are teachable qualities that can be learnt with time and experience. On the other hand he has some attributes which just can't be taught.

Pick 3: Aaron Fiora. Pick 4: Matthew Pavlich.

Richmond fans have been copping it for years about deciding not to pick two modern superstars on draft day, only for rivals to pounce with the very next selection.

But every club has a Buddy-sized skeleton in the draft closet. Most have more than one.

St Kilda could have picked Patrick Dangerfield, Essendon could have selected Todd Goldstein and everyone could have picked Dane Swan — but the Bulldogs drew what now looks like the short straw of the pick before Collingwood, highlighting the miss.

Everything looks very different in hindsight. At draft time, who’s to say Trent Sporn wouldn’t have a better AFL career than Shaun Burgoyne, who went with the very next pick in 2000.

A history of knee injuries scared other clubs away from Joel Selwood at the 2006 draft.

Going even further back we could point out that Essendon chose Stephen Carter instead of Michael O’Loughlin, Geelong drafted David Ugrinic the pick before Adam Simpson went to North Melbourne, Hawthorn punted on Matthew Dennis over Adam Goodes and St Kilda picked Rob Malone when it could have had Shane Crawford.

But our focus is on more recent drafts.

As recruiters prepare to call out the names of their club’s next big thing on Friday night, here’s a reminder of why they might be paying particular attention to who is selected with the next pick.

Pretty lame effort for the Geelong ones. Surely could have ran with player x or y instead of Brown/Smedts/Lang etc rather than flukey late picks.

Edit: ok so it is about the next pick directly after ours. The other club must have stuffed them up too then.

Edit 2: Schonemakers after Brown, Ben Jacobs after Smedts, Apeness after Lang. So yeah.

Leading WAFL goal kicker (73), incredible skills, natural footballer. His leap is insane.




He will be adding a lot to some clubs forward line next year; I'd like it to be ours.

What he can do on the field isn't the primary issue that worries clubs with him.

I wondered if that were the case. On talent alone he should waltz onto a list.

EDIT: seems very versatile, can play all forward roles - small forward opportunist, tall with pack marks, and quick lead with strong hands.

Players Daniel's height have a history of sliding on draft night.

Great opportunity for Cocky to play a leadership role with him too. Kelly Cockatoo Parfitt Ryan Menzel Hawkins in the forward line, would be unbelievable for us. With McCarthy, Buzza, Parsons, Stanley and a lazing Dangerfield and Ablett as depth. Forward problems mostly solved

I'd take CCJ if he's there at 22/24. He might not fill our needs but he's to good to overlook.

When it’s likely players like some mentioned here might slip to the rookie draft I can’t understand why we would rookie hayball or Crameri.
