Mitch Larkin is a year or two older than my boy so he'd be making his way through the U16 system now. I know he's a good all round sporty kid, plays a decent level rep basketball as well as footy, is at a strong footy school, but don't know whether he's in the elite pathways.
Bumped into Matty last night. Mitch isn't in the TAC system: "nah, always been basically too small."

Likes his basketball, will play some school footy. So scratch that one.

I don’t think the academies should apply to F/S prospects, but if Nick chooses not to play for North Melbourne, then all the best champ, hope the Buckley curse doesn’t hurt too much.

FWIW Tarren Thomas BFNAAK and wants to play in our jumper.

I don’t want Blakey to choose North because of some afl rule change disallowing him to be part of the Sydney academy. If he chooses North I want it to be because that’s where he wants to play

Very unlikely any of the FS will pick us if they have a choice, i really dont want to see a year long saga to get these FS only to be pipped at the last minute. Much better to focus on NM first policy and do what and target the players that could truly benefit us and not for any sentimental reasons.

We’re going bad if Crocker’s boy doesn’t pick us....

From what i read, many of not all the FS linked to us is also linked to several other potential clubs and their fathers currently works for the other clubs so it's naturally easier for these guys to find their way to their old man's workplace. Plus they are bigger clubs.

What's the world coming to when a kids too small to play good footy, but not basketball!!!

*Curious, shows ignored content, nods, switches ignore back on feeling entirely justified*

I'd like to see the club ramp up the father son/daughter academy. What they have done in the past looks great but I'm not sure it's an annual event and I think it should be, and not just for the potential stars but all the eligible kids. They should also be doing little things like sending birthday cards etc (maybe they already are). I know it's an added expense but I think it pays off in spades.

Also should get more media attention- even if it's only on the website only.

The kids will get a kick out of it and have an attachment to the club that can be used for future endeavours.

Interesting. KM on Joel Crocker:

'Joel Crocker is a best 30 talent in next years draft at the moment for mine. Reads the flight well and is a capable mark either intercepting down back or on the lead. Has some pace and agility. Clean at ground level. Good forward and back. Another good talent.'

Bullshit - these pricks are trying to make us miss out on one of our eligible players

I doubt the club will sit on its heels when it comes to Blakey, some underhanded tactics will definitely come into play depending on how he goes at the champs.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a $350k 3 year extension is putout in front of him, effective Jan 2019 to throw a spanner in Sydney’s way.

Would that be considered draft tampering?

I don't think so, it only needs to be a handshake and put in writing 6 months down the track. Very hard to prove as tampering I would have thought. I wouldn't be surprised if Sydney did the same thing, I'd be more surprised if $350K was enough.

Franklins contract is back ended, they are going to be in a world of hurt in the very near future.

I think Crock needs to keep the boy in school football next year.

We don't want sport interfering with his studies.
