Dixon has been with Port for a while. Nothing wrong with that trade we were heavily into Dixon.

My issue with Port’s trading was the additional delisted pick ups like McKenzie, Trengrove, Lindsay Thomas (seriously WTF). First draft pick in 2014 was 56, first draft pick in 2015 was 37 and first pick in 2017 was 47. They did ok in 2016. Picking up spuds like Trengrove, the cannon and Lindsay takes up a list spot and potentially stunts development of some of their younger players. They are obviously investing heavily for 2018/19 premiership as it will be a heavy fall thereafter.
What is the different having lindsay ,Trengrove under rookie contract playing in Reserve compare to D.pearce or Spurr for Peel and allow port to continue to put AFL game time into these players Marshall (19), Spp (19), bonner (21), bryne jones (22) ,Dan houston (20) douga howard (22). As your mention Spud don't perform in reserve all these young player will keep getting AFL games .

The difference, and its an important one, is that DP and Spurr have given us good service in their prime. They were not traded in as has-beens. Both our has-beens will retire/be delisted at the end of 2018.

Fair enough , will be good game this week with different press or forward pressure game plan for either team from Paul Roos coaching school .

I don't think any opposition supporter should be on our board calling our players spuds. That you once supported Freo doesn't change that.

Those two players provide leadership in a period of rebuilding, and are being managed through to the end of their careers having given their best for the club. Huge difference keeping them on than recruiting players like Thomas.

Watching this fixture does my head in. Geelong are such an unlikeable team but I can't stand barracking for Hawthorn against anyone but the eagles.
Pretty good game to watch though. Burgoyne’s injury is a shame though.

Haha yeah was just thinking the same I can't stand neither , not to mention both sets of obnoxious fans.
Leaning towards hawfs tho, as I think cats ultimately are more a shot at the flag this year so if a loss here contributes , in some small way ,to that not happening then that can only be a good thing

Didn't think Tim Kelly would be able to weave through traffic at AFL level like he did for Souths, but he really is stepping up.
And if he'd been picked up by us, say, the commentators would be all "Tim who?" instead of wetting their pants every time he goes near it. And this is AFTER the collective pants-wetting over... ugh, can't believe I am going to say it... "Dangerwoodlett".

Hear, hear. Changing teams means you forfeit the right to bag the players of the team you once supported. Especially on the team board.

Same - for both teams. I was trying to work out which one I dislike more. And I can't. Actually, probably Geelong because of the stupid exasperated looks of their coach whenever a free kick is paid against them, or he thinks one's been missed.

I wish instead of using Sandi to make a contest we played him like other rucks and made him come into the contest from the side and mark the ball that way.

Geelong extremely lucky Menzel stayed. Hawkins is overrated and they got no other forward.

Impey is quickly developing Hawthorns skills, his kicking has already improved at a new club, proving Hawthorn train skills and are able to make all their players better kicks.
