Rotham is next small/medium defender in line imo. Fast smart and clean with the ball in what was a scrappy game. He has put a few good games together now. He has a long reach and good closing speed, ideal for being third man in or opposed to a lead-up forward.
I wasn't fully listening to the radio cast at the time but they did mention something about Emac working with Rotham. I know in the past i have mentioned that he is a medium defender but it seems like the club might be wanting to turn him into a KPD. At 193cm he is tall enough to do it and the way he fills the holes and helps out his fellow talls, suggests that it might be the case.

Gorter was abysmal but Banfield has only shown himself to be good as a tagger so far at AFL level and not much else.

Did some good jobs on Zerrett and Hall in particular, but Shuey absolutely pantsed him last week
Think that he'll still end up as a solid AFL player, but probably not a star

Olango injured knee late in final quarter of reserves hopefully its minor , McInnes is still flying though and Vardy will hopefully return shortly .

Sounds like Rotham is tearing it up at the moment , good to see ....and Brander going well indeed .

Waterman will keep his spot I reckon as he does play smaller then Brander , will be interesting when we debut Brander though .

Waterman needs to work on his bloody field kicking

Great to see Rotham in the best players.
Rotham struggled at times last year because he simply wasn't strong enough against men. Didn't help that he was playing a KPD role at times that he was entirely unsuited for. Despite that he still showed glimpses of what could be - his willingness to provide rebound run off halfback and good ball use

The little I've seen of him this year he looks bigger (taller and heavier) so it's great to hear he's been steadily improving as that 2016 draft intake may yet prove to be a bonanza. Venables, Rotham, Rioli and Waterman could be something special.

Bayok hehe

Brander has had such an impressive start to the year.

If you exclude the Subi game (where he was awesome in a well-beaten side), he is averaging over the last four games:

18.3 possessions
7.5 marks
5.3 scoring shots (unfortunately 9 goals 12 behinds)

He does look better as the third tall.In the subi game he struggled playing full back but it was a horrible game for all in the back line with the way the midfield was being flogged. He does look like he has turned the corner.

It has the potential to be two amazing drafts in a row with Brander and Ryan looking excellent talents in particular and all of Allen, Ainsworth and Petrucelle looking comfortably good enough to play AFL. Premierships can be built from nailing a series of consecutive drafts - the only thing we’ve struggled to pick is elite mids (for a change).

Even the 2013-15 drafts look pretty good in hindsight with more hits than misses in that time. They cop a lot of flack on here but other than an obvious weakness in drafting elite mids our recruiters have a great strike right since Simpson took over and implemented the skills/smarts focus.

How good would it be if Bayok could play senior footy... so we think he’s any chance of a debut this year?

Won't last long if he keeps stealing people's lunches

(reference to the Eagles Backchat podcast for those wondering)

So if they can't draft the elite mid's and we have trouble developing players into one than the only way to get them in is via trade/free agency.
