I think we are wasting our time with McKenzie. He's a very good kick/intercept marker at SANFL level but got destroyed being a 3rd tall defender at AFL level.Reckon after GC got bent over by Freo in the Weller trade they'll be playing hard ball and will want something pretty heavy for Hall, regardless of the fact that he's in and out of their best 22. Agree with most - he's cherry on top type player, could be hugely damaging on the wing but will undoubtedly have games as worst on ground due to lack of defensive efforts. Probably not worth giving up any real net value, i.e. trading out Amon for Hall somehow would be fine, but investing further picks etc. I wouldn't be on board with.
Francis has severe question marks over his ability to cope at AFL level and he's surplus to needs to I'd be surprised if we had a crack at him. Still think last year it was between him and Mackenzie, so unless we delist the latter (not sure if he's on a 2 year contract?) I doubt he'd be coming to Port.
Correct. I'd do the whole "It's Happening" thing, but I have to try hard just to look up from the keys as I type, let alone do those GIF things. It would have happened last year, but Bombers refused to even consider the deal. He want to come back to SA and we are a destination of choice.

Look at our recently brought in high draft picks with issues - Toumpas, Trengove, Watts. Our fans have been very good at not putting unrealistic expectations on players brought in. If Francis came here, it'd be a Watts situation, in so much as not having the fans / club expecting the world of him. Of course all predicated on Essendon finding a soul at the bottom of the cupboard and acting like human beings during trade weekThat's why I reckon he needs to go back home and play footy in the country for a season.
He was a high draft pick, Essendon will want plenty for him and that would keep up the pressure on him to deliver, wherever he goes, when he might not be in the head space to do so.

What's his ideal position. 3rd tall defender or could he hold down a key post? I haven't seen anything of this kid skills wise either. Has anyone seen him play VFL?Aaron Francis a real possibility.

With that in mind a second or third rounder may be better spent on an 18 year old who will likely have a higher potential and just as much chance of being a bust as Francis.
We might get a player with less chance of being a bust than Francis with a third rounder, but we damn sure won’t be getting anyone with more potential.
The more interesting arguments are on who to trade out always though. Other than Amon on the table (if we get Hall), whose on the chopping block? Broadbent's value has tanked after his injuries, to be another 'should have traded when had some value'. One I'd put on the block, that may have some value (late second maybe?) is Sam Gray. I'd say Neade, but realistically we'd be lucky to get a 5th. I think AJ has all the tools to play Sam's role. Especially given shortly we should be running with Dixon, Watts and Marshall, so that 'sub-180cm main KPF' role he's often playing, that we all love so much should go.
Would he really want to leave to be Backup?Scott Lycett. I know not everyone agrees but whatever. Free agent. Proven he can play as a ruck in tandem. Ryder is reasonably old and broken. Frampton hasnt had a game in 4 years despite the need for a ruck. Ladhams has a bung knee. Hayes is very young. Both Ryder and Hayes have the forward game to play in tandem with another ruck. Lycett is the bridge and hes a solid agressive bridge.
More likely to go to the crows to be first banana. Jacobs looks almost doneWould he really want to leave to be Backup?
Aaron Francis is genuine swing I believe. All hypothetical of course but as a forward for Power rather than defense. I agree our back 6 are as good as you need for mine. We have more midfield depth than anyone. Maybe one more quality outside player and a forward that is getable.
Aaron Francis has shown himself to have well above average ability. There's plenty of upside at afl level.
Id have Pittard on the table. Package up a few picks to go high in this draft
Bonner, DBJ, Houston, Clurey all at his level or past him now. Plus Hartlett when hes back and broadbent in a distant back up role
He can do what that young fella did who is now at Freo. That's why I reckon he needs to go back home and play footy in the country for a season.

I would absolutely not want us to lose any decent picks in this draft. If what’s being said about Francis, I’d be very keen, should be able to get him quite cheap.
Back home with family and friends, new club Renoir for culture. Could absolutely reinvent himself as a footballer and realise his potential.

Either turn him into a flanker or delist. I've also got the same feeling about Lienert too.
(For the record I'd delist Toumpas and Hewett, make Lienert a 3rd tall defender at worst, never a 1st or 2nd tall, and move McKenzie to half back then draft/trade in 1 or 2 young KPDs for long term development)
