I’d take him. He’d be best 22 here at the moment and he’d instantly be our best centre clearance player.
If Cam came to us for next to nothing I would definitely be interested. Like you say cotter would instantly be our best clearance player. Has been hampered by injury but when fit a better player than Wallis imo

I would take him but I wouldn't give much up for him, he has never been a regular 1st 22 player with them.

Who would be worth more Ellis-Yolmen or Sam Mayes? Straight swap?

May well be best for both of them? What do we have to lose, Sam knows his time is up here.

I noticed him him in brissy with Charlie and Mitch, they looked very close. I said to mates at the time, whats the bet he ends up with us next year.

He was playing well this year before injury, if he wants to come, we will take him no doubt about it.

He’s had over 20 touches in a game 6 times. Wallis averages over 20 disposals a game over his 119 game career.

Wallis is 3 months older

Yeah Wallis is the one we should be targeting. I have a feeling he will stay at the Bulldogs. In excellent form at the moment and they will know it. Definitely doing his chances at enhancing his next contract, no harm.

Dud. 25 year old that’s played 26 games. He’s the C grader that we need to avoid.

Might be worth a rookie list spot if we don’t get anybody else.

And his disposal is crap.

I'm not against trying to sign Wallis as a free agent. But not on crazy money. He's a handy player, but nothing more. The Bulldogs are the worst side in the competition over the last month - Averaging 52 points for and 105 against. Wallis is part of that midfield rotation that is getting destroyed. I think a few on here are overestimating his ability

He doesn’t have to be great he just needs to provide support for Beams and Zorko. Then in a couple of years when Berry, Clug, Rayner, etc. step up he’ll support them and Beams and Zorko can move forward.

Of course He’s not worth ‘crazy’ money

Yeah well Wallis would have to be a free agent although I'd give our second round pick for him. Definitely our second pick next year.

Lloyd would be nice but I don't see the need for another small back. Unless we traded Rich or started playing him in the middle.
Lloyd is an upgrade on Rich in my eyes.

Realistically Wallis would only leave the bulldogs for us, if he was receiving a significant pay increase or much longer contract. I think either he or Ellis-Yolmen would be solid additions, but both are very slow and I hope we wouldn't be paying big overs to get them here.

Having another look at the OOC and FA list today with an eye to adding some midfield grunt, small forward with pressure and goal kicking ability, back half run and carry which are the areas I see us as lacking in.

Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Josh Thomas(RFA), Jay Kennedy-Harris, Jake Neade, Anthony Miles, Connor Menadue, Jayden Short, Shai Bolton, Jake Lloyd, Nic Newman, Mitch Wallis(RFA), Tom Liberatore(RFA), Lin Jong.
I rate Nic Newman. Would be a good get and relatively cheap.

Can play in the middle, half back or on a wing. Would suit our game plan with his penetrating and accurate kicking.

I don't really see that. Put Rich into Sydney's system and I suspect he'd be a lot more well-regarded. Take Lloyd out of Sydney's system and he'll probably still be good but ultimately he's a fairly uncontested back pocket player with good disposal. The big benefit of Lloyd over Rich is their relative ages.

If Jack Riewoldt hasn't signed you have to ask.
Promise him the goalsquare. 2 or 3 years on good money.
Would kick 55-100 each year.
Riewoldt resigned yesterday for a further 2 years. It was pretty ridiculous to suggest he was even gettable, lives and breathes Richmond.

You're pretty hard on brutus there Dave, it's nowhere near the most ridiculous suggestion I've read on BF, some would say I've made more ridiculous suggestions:shoutyoldman::eek:. I certainly didn't think Luke Hodge would come to us when first suggested.

Hindsight is wonderful.

I have come around to this thinking. I was against Wallis as not a fan but he is a free agent and if not crazy money can see logic given our midfield void. I also understand we have had a great run with injuries this year compared to most sides which might not repeat next year. Still hoping our midfield won't need him in a couple of years time.

Do you still expect Beams and Zorko to be playing midfield in 2021?

I think they'll be phased out from then and we can't expect Berry and Clug to be leading our midfield at 23 unless one of them turns into Oliver or Cripps.
