yeah there is a bunch of WC supporters that bayed for Priddis' blood his entire career, even his brownlow year. He was a guy wo had his flaws (uber-slow), poor handballer, even worse kick, limited vision - but totally got the most out of his ability by being the best extractor for years. love/hate i guess...

Not that it counts for much, but he also seemed to be one of the nicest blokes in the game.

Probably better to be nominated as the worst AFL player than being a never-will-be keyboard warrior making the nomination anonymously on a football forum...
What if you were both?
How awesome would that be?

ill give you his kicking was one-dimensional, but i disagree about the handballs, i thought he was really good with them. a few floating hospital passes that seems to be the Eagles style, but his clearances were pretty high...considering most of his handballs were executed while he was on the ground with 6 blokes on him.

He used to handball to the player instead of in front of them - so they would break step instead of stretch to get it. Considering how slow our midfield was - catastrophic mistake as it would chew up any separation they had gained from their man.

And every year the number of players hanging off him increases by 1-2

Phillips (Carlton) every single game before this year. He was tripping over his own feet, terrible disposal and just an all-round struggle to make VFL player

Supports my point. We’ve been shit for over a decade. Flat track bully who never performed when it mattered.
Kicked a important goal in 2011 Prelim Final on his left from 50m vs Hawthorn.
He held Rioli that night.

Go find another All Aus Forward Pocket that went and got an All Aus Back Pocket jumper. Elite skills and silk

But nah a spud. Tool.

The only tool here is the one who plays the man.

Love how he was picked in the grand final replay because he performs on the big stage. Silk.

A lot of 'tap ruckmen' would fill this criteria, recruited for their height but have no other skills. Mark Blake played 99 AFL games and even played in a winning premiership side!

I was a critic of Blake, until I saw some of his tap-out figures.

Mark Blake was good at only one thing, but he was REALLY good at it, and it was hitting the ball to the right place.

Consider this, Selwood, Bartel and Ablett were dominating in the midfield in those days. Part of that was due to Ottens, but also Blake.

Yet, replace Bartel with Dangerfield, and yet we don't win clearances, because our rucks are now Stanley and Smith.

Also, Blake took apart King and Gardiner in the 2009 GF at the ruck hitouts.

Just to show that you don't need to be a great to play a premiership.

Have a look at Adelaide's 1997-98 premiership teams. Full of scrubbers, yet won a flag.

Players like Shane Ellen, Kym Koster and Chad Rintoul.

I hope you didn’t write that sober.

There’s not even a parallel universe where Cale Morton is premiership player.

The sheer concept causes an eruption in the space time continuum.

Oh, sorry, I meant his brother Mitch, who played in a premiership with Sydney the year after Terry Wallace called him out for being a hack at Richmond.

Amazed that Raph Clarke isn't dominating this thread. Awful, awful player. Never seen an AFL player bar ruckmen have such a total lack of spacial awareness, and at least ruckmen usually know their limitations. If he didn't get run down he'd almost assuredly butcher the ball anyway. A few of my close friends are Saints fans so I went to a lot of their games particularly 2010-12ish when Raph was still around and our running joke every game was how bad he was.

True story.

I was at the 2009 Grand Final, and once I saw Raph Clarke was playing for St. Kilda, I knew that Geelong would win the 2009 flag.

******* hell. Watts is as far away from the worst as he is from the best. He can actually kick a football for one thing.

If there was every a list for the player who has the most people make excuses for him, and for ignoring his spudness, Watts would top the list.

Soft as butter!

Still kicked more goals than games, could be alot worse, played international rules aswell.

Completely forgot about him though.

Wasn't Todd Banfield one of the Fitzroy players picked up by Brisbane when they merged?

If you have the choice of ten players, and he is one of them, then Fitzroy must have had a bad team then. Mind you, they didn't have much on offer.

Was thinking about his two good games vs geelong and geelong finished up with him
You can add gysberts good game vs geelong and how north ended up with him
Going back further in the 80's a ruckman for melb called mclean had a good game vs the pies and he ended up there

I remember a game between Melbourne and Geelong at the 'G that I went to.

Grgic was playing for Melbourne.

He got the ball in the backline, handpassed it to Jimmy Bartel (an opposition player) straight in front of goal, tried to tackle him and fell over, allowing Bartel to run into the open goal.

We then drafted spud Grgic a couple of years later. Why?
