I actually thought the umpiring the whole game was overlooked in it's crookedness because pf the Dixon incident.
If this happened to a Hawthorn or Richmond today it would be uproar but Port and certain other teams unfortunately get called whingers and have to cop it
Feeling for you in what i read before .. all the best and take care .
Thanks, it they can push WCE down they'll get wall to wall MCG finals for a month. Perfect hey :)

The AFL has a wealth of international sports with video review technology to get enough intel to get it right. This is one of many examples where the technology, the reviewer or the positioning of the technology has stuffed up. A serious blight on the game. Gil has tried to implement landmark changes, bring in AFLW etc and he has bumbled them all

lol at Hinkley's presser, is there a bigger whinger and excuse maker in the game?
What whinge? He acknowledged Adelaide deserved the win.
So was your coach an even bigger whinger that time the game was played on after the siren in Hobart, and Freo lost? He was still complaining after the AFL awarded Freo the points!

lol he was so fake in the "Oh they deserved to win" as if it gave him a license to then just sook as much as he wants.

And no arguments about Connelly being a whinger, he was also a dud coach like Hinkley.

So you don't think it's an issue that it was touched and the system to stop wrong decisions from happening failed due to human error? The replay was rushed and didn't look at all available angles.

That's an obvious issue and you have to be nuts to not think so.
It was inconclusive not definitive. Sure we need better angles, but the umpire was in the perfect position and said goal.

Ken's presser was so,so salty. Who cares what Jenkins thought? You lost. A team playing for a spot in the top 4 got beaten by a team in 12th spot. Outplayed in just about all aspects.
6 and 1 Kenny!

I thought he was excellent .

Can we all just realise that these reviews have happened all year? As soon as its not conclusive then they pay whatever was called. It's just magnified becasue its near the end of the game.

I'd be far more sympathetic if the umpire called behind and it was overruled but it wasn't. Umpires call was a goal so you'd know it wouldve been a very close call. You needed a bloody good angle to overrule the umpires call.

Port found a way to win back the lead in the last minute last Showdown and couldn't do it with more than double that time this Showdown.

If Port look at this game they will understand they had chances to kill the game and didn't. They should also remember they were the second best side on the night. Through scoring shots and general play, they were lucky their percentage was left in tact.

1. If you take more than 10 secs to look at it

2. The ump was in poor position.

3. The ump said goal and asked to check if it touched post. He obviously had some idea that it may have. Jenkins said it did. Footage to me shows it did and plenty seem to think so too.

4. The review was weird. One angle rushed then made a call.

"But to deal with that last moment, where the player acknowledges it's hit the post and the AFL, in a billion-dollar industry, can wreck seasons for football clubs that work too hard."

Firstly, Jenkins said he thought it hit the post he didn't acknowledge anything.
Secondly, Port lost the possessions, clearances, tackles, stoppages, marks in side 50, entries into forward 50 and scoring shots. Yet it is the AFL system that wrecked their season? Man up and say "we were beaten by a more committed side when our final spot was on the line" instead of sooking about a goal review.

Plenty of teams win possessions etc and lose games

It’s called not making the most of your chances. Port has lost games because of it before. It doesn’t mean you deserved the win without question nor excuses a baffling review.

And all year how did the reviews play out?

Multiple angled viewed in frame by frame to check

Did that happen today????

Why not??

Only where there was actually a camera in a decent position.

Plenty of games at tiny grounds where goalline technology was similar to tonight's offering.

As mentioned in the Stretch, Hocking had encouraged the review to speed up and with no conclusive evidence there is no point taking 10 mins.

Called goal, reviewed, nothing conclusive to suggest otherwise. Done.

The afl said it was reviewed for 23 seconds and no evidence beyond reasonable doubt was found. It would have been a bigger issue if it was overturned on no evidence.
It’s not like cricket, we don’t get every angle the 4th umpire gets.
Jenkins DID NOT say it hit the post, he said he thought it did, big difference.

You obviously listened to a snip or just choose to ignore the times he acknowledged Adelaide....

But hey. Don't expect anything else from you.

Correct.

The goal review system was brought in to overrule howlers, not overrule on inconclusive evidence, which should always revert to goal umpire's call.

If it helps in some small way, we had 2 in a row, almost gave up and now have a 9 month old currently refusing to sleep. Time helps. Not much else does. Go hug your wife.

Almost identical to us

3 in a row, 1 almost mid term, hurt so much we considered giving up. Now have a happy 1yo not sleeping too. Time does heal but it hurts like hell.

So fake? Do us a favour and get lost.

Crows fans here and other don't think so. So put your opinions some place else.
