:think:With LOB, I honestly believe the club recruited him and hopes he will one day be a Craig Bradley type player. Run all day with good delivery. In a more developed side we may see him flourish as an outside player. We definitely need cattle with good kicking skills.

We need all the outside run we can get atm. So not a bad thing. Adding Gaff next year will go a long way to aiding his development.

Yes so true, Must keep track of all potential draftees. Agresta, is my brother in-laws close fiend and I have met him at a couple of functions impressionable young man and switched on (never discussed footy however). My brother in lawhas told me that our recruitment department was seriously deficient and still has a long way to go. Club has and is still addressing this issue. Getting people in with the ability to identify talent and more importantly talent that can be educated is the key.

spell check ?

Apart from being a close fiend , is he impressionable or impressive ?
Disappointing that we have still a way to go in the recruiting department.....SOS, Brodie and Agresta seem quite a good start...it must be the minions below them that are lacking.

Yes other teams have it just as bad as us (i.e collingwood, gws, adelaide at some stages even though we are sort of comparable to them) but they all have depth, we have literally NONE.

Spot on :
Collingwood. Buckley is on record as saying midyear (when they had had a good run with injuries) that it was impossible to play good football the previous 2 injury riddled years- because their mature players had been out and they were forced to play younger players before they were ready. Does this ring a bell with carlton supporters? He further stated that their sparkling form this year, is down to those younger players now drawing from their early development, and being combined with their older stars who were back, and it made them a much more powerful side., Obviously they have had some injuries since then- including Treloar , Goldsack, Howe, DeGoey, Reid, Elliot, Scharenberg , Wells. So the pies have real depth, yet couldnt cover the losses in the earlier years because the replacements were too young. Also , the pies have real confidence that they didnt have before...which makes a huge difference

GWS. Even though they have the best list in the competition, it looked like they would miss the 8 before they started to get their stars back from injury. Now the likes of Kelly and Green are back and they look like they can go all the way. Once again, injuries and confidence can have a huge impact on onfield performance.

Adelaide: The missing piece to their midfield B. Gibbs esq. was going to give them a serious run at a premiership. They had the backline and forward line and now midfield in place. Then BANG- injuries.
With the Crouch bros out, their midfield has struggled- even with the addition of Gibbs. Their Backline looks totally different with Jake lever(our docherty)

Now compare the Richmond performance the past 2 years- where the injury gods have smiled on them. They look a totally different side. Their confidence is sky high and they are the side to beat this year (I think GWS will cause them the ultimate pain though)

How can ANYONE look at our list with its age demographic and injury list, and seriously expect us to do any better? We dont have the list of the above 4 clubs, what depth we have is full of younger players. The experience with the teams highlighted above, shows you beyond doubt that luck with injuries , is probably the Key determining factor in team performance. It impacts your skill base , it impacts your fitness base, it impacts your confidence base.

No need for the spelling lesson.

Any chance this can be posted in the correct thread.

When SOS arrived it became clear we had no idea, recruitment dept was a boys club where recruits were discussed over a bear and occasionally noted on a spirax pad. We didn't even have a modern database to effectively record future available talent and track their performance skills etc. Talent scouts were old school and not very good at identifying talent due the belief that everyone could be bought for a price. We failed miserably in this area. Agresta and Brodie have been recruited to change this. And as Hark's mentioned, hopefully these guys will uncover more diamonds in the rough.

Did any one realise Polson featured quite heavily in that highlight of Harry reel?

EDIT: damn you FF78 … damn you ;)
Time will tell but Polson is showing some good signs, applies pressure and has some toe. I see his main deficiencies being (Keeping in mind he has only played a handful of senior games) his ability to read the play and preempt where the ball is likely to go if he is around the drop of the ball he becomes involved. The turnovers and bad decisions will disappear as he and the team improve in regards to panic setting in. Reading opposition set plays as well as ours is the key to being a small pressure forward. The position he plays is not easy when the midfield is ill equipped and most balls forward are a bomb under pressure, bad delivery, or the wrong decision. Hard to read the play in these situations. Will never be a full time midfielder but if he makes it he will be part of the forward line with short bursts on the ball.

Great improved workrate by H, get to more contests, gives him more opportunity to impact the game (couple of great efforts from Polson that lead to 2 of Harry's goals)
Certainly a contrast to his game against Geelong which led to his demotion to the VFL. In that game he did not take one mark, yet since his return he has taken 7, 8, 6 & 8 marks & has had 15 disposals in 3 of the last 4 games.

On the couch provided the stats about giants 16 vs 18 was for 47 seconds, 8 mins with 17 vs 18. Sadly they scored 3.3 to our zero during this period.

Apparently we pushed an extra forward (WTF were the coaching staff thinking) ended up pushing an extra man into defence.

I think the club has managed him well. It has been frustrating, given we would have preferred more games, but taking the conservative approach is starting to show reward

way to protect the rattle-tossers and allow them unfettered, repetitive bullshit - well done

I'm not responsible for anybody's inability to restrain themselves from appointing themselves board sheriffs, instead of reporting the post, or debating the points they make.

Have you ever had a negative opinion on the board? Did you feel entitled to hold that opinion?

Constructive negative opinions are fine, if the poster can also hold a balanced opinion on other subjects so we know they are genuine supporters. I think you'll find admin are aware of baiting on all sides, and they are aware that the board is becoming divided.

I understand the frustration people have with the negativity. As mods, we have had to deal with it more than any of you this year. It's the season from hell after all.

People can either understand we are trying to restore some balance and objectivity, or they can attack us for not taking their side 100%. We're not going to win anyway ... never do.
