I’d honestly love to take the punt. Hasnt been able to get on the park this year. Had that really good season up forward where he drifted abit late, and has kicked 38 and 36 goals the two years after it which is decent.

I could see him being to us what Cam Mooney was to the Cats in 07-09, not the best or most dominate forward, but still ends up with a decent 40-50 goal a season tally.

Plus if he puts it all together we get him at full forward for the next 4-5 years. I hope the club is enquiring, especially with the changes going on at St Kilda.
Worth a shot I agree

Given the pub has been shut since Easter, not sure even Ricky would have tried that one on.
Sorry, meant Sorrento, not Portsea. Monday brain fart

The concern about Moore staying is that we are now into the 2nd week of finals and still no signature. The likelyhood of him staying seems to be diminishing each week.
I believe Moore, is like Elvis in that he has already left the building. Geelong will have a clean-out but irrespective of that, there is a hierarchy down at Geelong when it comes to pay structure, and they will not offer Moore anything near that he is reporting to be seeking.

We still have 12 or so players to resign including many best 22 players. Moore isnt our only concern. In the next few weeks we will get a better indication of who is staying and going - the season will have to end first.

We should be busy in the draft then with 12 vacancies

Well he would say that wouldn't he. A player who is contracted is always on their playing list for next year until they're not.

Mitch McGovern, anyone?

Jack Watts still had two years on his contract with Melbourne before he went to Port as well.

The Crows version is massively over rated.
Look up McGoverns career stats and you'll have a re think. I think people get the brothers mixed up.

I'm not commenting on Mitch McGovern's efficiency as a player, I'm commenting on the fact that he was still considered by the Crows as playing on next year, and for the next two years in fact, because he was contracted. Until lo and behold, he requests a trade.

My point is, as it stands right now of course the head coach of the Suns is going to say that Steven May is their player, because he is. Until May comes to them (if he does) and says he wants out now.

I’m on the Josh Bruce bandwagon. He averages more than 4 marks a game throughout his whole career. I think he could be the ideal replacement for Moore, as a defender or a forward.
He’s only ever played in poor teams. Started in a young Giants side, and then moved to a pretty ordinary Saints side. He has potential.

How many of those players have had a contract sitting there since February and still refuse to sign on?

It's funny posters wanting to trade Moore and target KPP in the same post.
Got me beat.

Then Moore will be a star key back and the same posters will bemoaning why Collingwood did the deal.

I think Geelong will have a bit of a clean out, so they may create room in their cap.
Ablett Dickwood Dangermouse Hawkins must be their biggest chunks

I think those contracts would be at the minimum the club think they are worth. (Which would explain the guys who did sign extensions). The club was trying to create space for Lynch, and maybe now May or someone else.
Once the season is done, I think will start to have serious conversations with potential players/clubs to figure out what the market is like - and then there will be a parallel process (but probably only really ramp up once the rest of the market is clearer) of decided how much higher we are willing to pay some of these guys.
For guys like Langdon, Moore, Elliott- there could be a massive range in the market, which would explain from both sides the delay in signing.

Would give our 1st for GWS Tomlinson instead of May. Will cost less of our salary cap than May too.
Tomlinsons name always comes up every year and pretty sure hes always contracted when it does, i think GWS would force us to pay overs. Perhaps not even much less than it wod take to get May.

Assuming none of these trades come off what state league KBs are worth drafting? There's gold in them there hills i tells ya!

A YEAR after landing on the scrap heap, Werribee key defender Sam Collins is almost certain to land back in the AFL following a dominant season where he has become the Jeremy McGovern of the VFL.
It is a stunning response from the 24-year-old, who was starved of opportunity across two years at Fremantle before being cut last October after just 14 games.

Foxsports.com.au understands Brisbane and Gold Coast are two of several clubs keen on Collins, with the 194cm, 98kg defender expected to go somewhere in the second or third round, potentially as high as the early 20s.

You only have to look at Collins’ remarkable numbers in 2018 to see the comparison with the West Coast star.
He is by far the highest rated key defender in the VFL in terms of ranking points (126), and is also No. 1 for marks (10.6), intercept marks (6.4), intercept possessions (11.9) and contested possessions (10.8).

McGovern and Western Bulldogs skipper Easton Wood hold the AFL record for intercept marks in a season at 75, with the Eagle hauling in 72 so far this year. This season in the VFL, Collins has taken 108 in 17 games, after taking 81 in the WAFL last year.

Aside from the Suns and Lions showing strong interest, Melbourne, Collingwood and Sydney have all been left thin in the defensive key stocks this year due to injury and could consider Collins a viable option.

He also trained at St Kilda for two weeks last November before being overlooked by every club in both the National and Rookie Draft.

Nixon’s twitter mentioning Moore to St Kilda, what do they even have to give us? Why do they want another player that our medical staff have ruined their hamstrings?

Best case for us is

Pick 4 to Sydney for Hannebery and 13 Pick 13 for Moore
13 and next years 3rd to GC for May

Saints turn their pick 4, in what is being called an amazing draft class, into two injury prone players. We get May, everybody wins, except St Kilda.
If Moore was to leave, highly doubt it’s for a Melbourne club I don’t believe he is unhappy at Pies.

If we like him we shouldn't muck around, take him with our first.
