Bowler from the hand, if it’s a spinner and the ball is turning, the keeper probably knows more about what it’s doing.

In the pre-DRS days it was entirely justified, but with DRS you have a very good idea as to whether the ball would hit offstump, so there is a case for modifying the rule a bit.

If the ball hits well outside off you wouldn't change the rule, but just outside off? Maybe.
