Thank you.

I wasn’t wishing death on the human race just discussing the merits of a rule change.

The problem is it would shift the balance too far in favour of spinners. They'd just pitch every ball outside off and as soon as one bit and nipped back the batsman would be gone.

Wouldn’t mind the bowlers getting something back for their toil.

Anyway,thanks for the clarification.

In the pre-DRS days it was entirely justified, but with DRS you have a very good idea as to whether the ball would hit offstump, so there is a case for modifying the rule a bit.

If the ball hits well outside off you wouldn't change the rule, but just outside off? Maybe.

Literally every batsman moulds their technique around the premise that you get outside the line of off stump where possible to negate such dismissals. It throws the fabric of batting out way too much

Noone is told to go to the cricket.
70000 go because its the best place to be on Boxing Day.
Who doesTaylor Swift play for?

The principle is exactly the same. Go to an ‘event’ because there’s a shitload of people there and claim it’s fantastic despite the product being modest, or go to a product and assess it on its merits.

The dumbest rule of cricket, the pitching outside rule.

If it goes on and hits the stumps it’s out imo.

A dumb rule.

it can pitch outside 'off' and still be out, that only applies to pitching outside 'leg', but this hit the pad outside the line of 'off' wbile playing a shot, in other words didn't hit him in line.

Or dont go, and turn off your TV.
Who cares?
As I said earlier people would complain if it was 8/120 also.

Hahahahahaha mate yeah it’s tough to accept rules that have only been in the game for a century or whatever.
Not entirely true. The LBW rule has experienced a couple of changes, one was the addition of the “pitching outside the line of off stump” becoming irrelevant in 1935. Often less spoken about and even less publicised was that a year later in Minor Counties the law was again amended so that where it struck the batsmen also became irrelevant. LBW’s spiked to 1 in 3 and the law was revoked after 1 season.

But it has in fact changed to what is being suggested, it was a giant failure though

Kohli's wristy drives are quite pretty in their own way, but aesthetically I much prefer the high elbow cover drive.
