One issue towards the end, throughout all that defensive pressure, repeat entries etc., was the inability to put another score or two on the board. Two behinds would have at least secured the draw. Lucky the Dees didn't run down the other end for a shot at winning.
Needed to ensure a score of some sort, whether it be a punch, soccer through etc..

Having said that, the defensive pressure was exceptional, preventing a good run out of the back 50.

I agree, putting a good goal ahead would have locked in some points from the game and all they needed to do was spoil over the line from a long kick.

But, the AFLW players could play eight years and not get to 100 games so that situational measure at the top level could be very rare.

Who knows? If there was a point, the new rules mean that Melbourne may have been able to move the ball quickly straight through the middle, instead of locking it in the pocket, like they were forced to.
