Surely what will happen is:

Out: Sauce, Murphy
In: ROB, Greenwood?

If not, Murphy for Gallucci seeing Murphy apparently picked up a knock mid week.

Hitouts is an absolutely useless stat at the best of times. Stat taking for the sake of (and I say that being a firm believer in analytics).

Can ROB find the ball 11 times? Sure, he averaged 14 in his past 2 games. Can ROB give a better contest the Jacobs - sure, because Jacobs really wasn't providing much in this regard around the ground. The actual improvement here really isn't difficult to obtain.
Which I agree he can do, but people setting him up in there minds to be an instant improvement or else he is useless may cop a harsh reality check if he doesn't immediately click at the top level.

Stengle's probably got the inside track over Gooch if that spot was in doubt. That guy seems to be kicking regular bags in the Magoo's, that kind of form cant be ignored forever!

Well, I mean it could, we are talking about the AFC selection committee here, but it shouldn't!

Absolutely no need whatsoever for Jacobs to play

It's a long season.

We're 1-1 so not a must win game.

Only rucking against Stanley, so not one of the superstars

His understudy is fit and well.

The only thing that could see him take the field is stupidity.

Jacobs will be asked the question and he’ll put his hand up. He has no interest in us finding out that we’re better off without him. Just like he did last year when he used injury as an excuse for his poor year. Problem was he played for 4-5 weeks after he said he was injured while ROB wasn’t injured and playing 2’s. He’s a very selfish player as evidenced by returning 2 weeks before he was ready back in 2016 when ROB was covering for him just fine.

Jacobs is a confirmed out with a "TBC" timeframe on his return.

A bit like Douglas I think this is a huge blessing in disguise

Far out, must be pretty significant. Makes us a better team though. Gonna be tough for the big fella to get back given the loss of continuity, which we know he thrives on.

FFS. Show me a single AFL player who isn't going to put his hand up for selection, even if he's had one leg and one arm amputated the week before.

If the selectors are dumb enough to fall for it, then the blame goes to them. But to blame Jacobs for putting his hand up, when every other player in the competition would have done exactly the same thing, is the height of stupidity.

Interesting. I know we normally sit Knight on Selwood, does he go to Kelly or Duncan instead?

What’s interesting is the Cats have managed to push an inside mid out to a wing and still get good results. We couldn’t possibly do something like that because getting the footy is nowhere near as important as running patterns.

Bullshit.

Prestigiacomo put the team first and gave up the opportunity to play in a grand final so that he would give his team the best opportunity of winning the flag.

If ROB has a very good game v Cats and Sauce is ready for R4, who plays?

Given we know the match committee how it operates, Crows win and ROB has a very good game, he stays, if Crows lose and ROB delivers I presume he will be dropped?
I would say sauce plays regardless what happens.

Well done, you've found one example, from 9 years ago - and it wasn't an Adelaide player. Congratulations, you've found the exception which proves the rule.

The incumbent is currently useless which is why this is the expectation. ROB doesn't even need to be at an average AFL level to be an improvement on 2019 Jacobs. He may not even need to be below average because that's how cooked Jacobs is (and I come back to Jenkins off all people showing him up as a ruck man).

If you have any inkling of belonging at this level, you will immediately be an improvement on Jacobs right now (it's also not like ROB hasn't been on our list for long enough to know our gameplan back to front). So it is very much that case for ROB. The bar for improvement is so low that it'd be just about career ending if he didn't clear it first try after the amount of time we've put into him.

To be fair Pea Nut did produce the "single AFL player" you requested

Jesus mate it really does get a bit tiresome sometimes reading the same old, same old line you take. I think by now most are well aware of your feelings an hardly need a reminder on selection every single game. It's becoming a broken record.

You asked, "Show me a single AFL player who isn't going to put his hand up for selection, even if he's had one leg and one arm amuptated the week before."
Which I did. I gave you what you asked for. It's worth highlighting that it was a grand final spot he gave up, not a round 3 game. There isn't a more important game you could ever play in and a huge percentage of players never get a chance to play in an AFL grand final, let alone win one.

You're quite right. I did say "show me one", and you did show me one.

That doesn't alter the fact that (almost) every single AFL player will stick their hand up for selection, if they think they're even remotely close to being fit. Sauce sticking his hand up for selection while still carrying a niggle does not make him particularly selfish, it makes him a typical AFL player.

The issue is the other side of the specturm. Defence. We're using Murphy in a similar vein to Cameron where the amount of pressure on a defensive 50 will make or break that selection, not how well they are doing offensively in the Magoos. Stengles issue here is going to be raw pace, especially if we're already running Betts.

Stengles big issue is he's playing a waiting game on us being ready to put Betts out to pasture right now. He is doing all he can to hasten that decision right now, and seeing Betts is on track to being a 30 goal forward, and not 50, that spot is certainly is able to be opened.

With only Hawkins and Ratugolea as the Cats tall forwards and the rest small-medium types like Rohan, Atkins, Miers, Ablett, and Dahlhaus, compared to the Swans last week with Buddy, Reid, and Blakey as talls, I'm not sure all 3 of Talia, Keath, and Hartigan are necessary this week, all 3 should only play because of match-ups and this week isn't one of them.

OUT: Sauce, Hartigan, Murphy

IN: ROB, Greenwood, Stengle

Kelly, Talia, Laird
Smith, Keath, Milera
Atkins, Sloane, Seedsman
Knight, Tex, Lynch
Betts, Jenkins, Stengle
ROB, MCrouch, BCrouch

Gibbs, Greenwood, Jones, Mackay

Does everyone on this board have a rival that as soon as they type anything they are instantly triggered. People need to chill out!
I put Sanders & Elite Crow on ignore for that very reason. Their unadulterated stupidity triggered me every time. Life is so much better without having to read their stupidity.
