Although Shiel got a lot of touches, and provided plenty of run and carry, some of the * supporters on their forum blamed him for their loss due to his pathetic disposal under pressure, especially in the last quarter.

Walsh is better than Shiel. :tearsofjoy:

they do blame good........

When every single player is stopping because it’s so obvious you know they’ve got nfi

I’m so sick of watching holding or dropping the ball decisions go unrewarded week after week, gives me the most frustration out of anything else that happens on the field.

You know It’s ok to pay a free when it’s there, the AFL wants to open the game up and increase scoring yet continuously help congestion by not doing so.

They can change the rules as much as they want, the coaches will devise strategies to combat them as they so clearly have this year, but to me it’s as simple as paying the free when it’s there. If there’s 70 free kicks a game so be it, as long as they’re consistent and don’t guess the what does it matter.

And dont get me started on “knocked out in the tackle”....

Which, arguably, is fair enough. How many pings at the sticks do you have to take - especially with the time and space he can find - without even registering a behind before you're being either selfish or inadequate?

Crap football is crap football. The umpires dont actually create that.

Disgraceful * fans booing Pendles.

I don't know why Pendlebury was booed. He really is a champion and deserved the medal. Couldn't work it out, but my missus said she thought it was because of his staging. (There was a free kick given to him. He threw his head back when he was tackled head on. He really emphasised the throwing back of the head IMO and got the free kick. It was at a vital stage I think in *'s backline.) You know, it really pisses me off that the only players that can win this medal are from Collingwood and *. ;)

Could have finished off that sentence without even adding 'Pendles' at the end.

There really isn't a right nor wrong way to boo. It's just silly however you care to sell it....and if you don't think it's silly....bring along a mirror.

Blame the ex players on the rules committee and in the media, if you're looking for someone to blame. Blame them for their ridiculous assertion 'let the game flow', 'Don't assert yourself into the game', which means that in order for them not to do so they have to let a lot go, which drives up the effect of individual free kicks to the point where what is or isn't paid can indeed cost or win you a game. Blame the rules committee, who instead of doing right for the competition or the umpires instead validate their very existence by changing either the interpretations or the rules every. single. offseason.

'Knocked out of the tackle' and 'Prior opportunity' are two innovations that were created in the interest of 'letting the game flow', 'not over-umpiring': nonsensical reasons created to avoid penalizing players for clear breaches in the rules. Blame the people who introduced those introductions and would combat any measures which see the interpretation move back to something more traditional. If you banned what you're complaining about - moving back to traditional adjudication of the rules - you'd have in excess of 100 frees paid every single match, and just watch the outcry amongst the media and the public if that eventuated.

A lot of his "pings" at goal were under pressure and on his Right foot. It turns out he hasn't got a right foot.

Like most left footers.

And he had ages, for a number of them, but instead of lowering the eyes or running an additional 20m, he chose to take the ping on the wrong foot from 55m, 45m on an angle. Better for them if, even if he's under pressure, he handpasses to someone else if he can't take the shot. Encouraged selfishness, and Essendon have no-one to blame for telling Shiel he's better than Josh Kelly.

If I want to add Pendles in my post I will.

Don’t see what the problem is, just because you don’t like it.

Just making a point that the booing was directed at Pendles as the umps had already left the ground.

Then you didn't understand the point of my post. That happens but it really had nothing to do with your post.

It was simply a reference point in regards to the real point; Booing is for fools.

I find it so cringeworthy to see grown adults red faced with anger, leaning over the seat in front of them, spitting everywhere as they yell BOOOOOOO.

You totally missed the point of my reply & didn’t understand my post which you have taken out of context.

FWIW I hate booing.

I agree with you MEB and you got my point.

Watch people booing and the first thing that come to mind; ****, I don't want to look and be like that :)

If the * "faithful" can't behave respectfully on ANZAC Day, surely it's time their stranglehold on the fixture was put up for review.
Plenty of salty * supporters on twitter this morning complaining about people in the media saying both * and Collingwood shouldn't have a strangle hold on ANZAC Day

This booing debacle is reaching epic proportions of ridiculousness. When I see pies supporters becoming bastions of morality and good order, defending their pendles (and rightfully so), yet they’ll relentlessly boo Daisy tnomas when he lines up against his old side, or boo Dom Sheed in the first game this year etc, then I call BS.

They are a bunch of dregs. Both lots.

See Gethelred 's post above. Sums it up.

I'd rather see frees paid when they're there than this "knocked out in the tackle" rugby style scrimmage shit that is happening now days.

In the game of Australian rules you handball or kick it not just drop it on contact and knock the ball forward it's a crap rule that needs scrapping. Why bother having tackling if its not rewarded by being "knocked out in the tackle" no shit it was knocked out in the tackle that's why the opposition is tackling to win the ball back.

Way too many rules have been brought in and have made it very hard for the umpires to adjudicate.

Lets go back to basics and if you don't correctly handball or kick the ball when being tackled or just drop it or spun 360 pay and don't handball or kick it holding the ball.
