Simmos kick from the boundary Jacks kick from the deep pocket Kennedys bomb Levis clutch goals....Dows two, Thomas' goal..awesome stuff from a lot of contributors making really important kicks.

this win was no fluke- we butchered 5 goes at it in 4th quarter alone.

It clicked today with Cripps Charlie Cuningham all out - Ed stepped in for Cripps 15 clearances -15 ...Jack stepped in for Ed and Kreuzer delivered an absolutely "bye bye Fyfee" hip and shoulder to lend jack a hand....

mongrel and guts all over the place - in a cold slippery away game in Perth.

Teague is either the luckiest man in AFL or he's got something that was missing - thats 2 for 3 with a 3 point loss Mr Teague has delivered- and today without Cripps or Charlie and playing a man down all game.

Side clicked today.

MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
That says 'MURPH' btw....he was absolutely enormous today....just go back and watch the first half to see how he kept us in the game. I just love the little champ!! The old dog Eduardo was right along side of him, god bless his cotton socks.
The biggest winners today will be the NB's....in a few weeks they'll have Crippa, Charles, Cuners and H running around in the mud with them....could be a record score...

What a roller coaster of emotions that was.

I am going to watch this game over & over again, although I won't put myself through the pain of watching the 1st quarter.

This win, much like the win against Brisbane & the near miss against the Bulldogs is what good Carlton sides have done in the past. Despite how pitiful we have looked at times during our last 3 matches, the players have clearly believed they were not out of the game. Who said they don't know how to win?

A marvellous team effort, but there are certainly some players who need to be recognised for their impact on the game:

Murphy: Been playing on the wing for much of the season. Put him in the engine room & he winds back the clock. This was vintage Murphy & if ever you want a player to kick a crucial goal with a banana kick, Murph is your man. He must not play on the wing again this season.

Ed: First game as captain, won the toss & then proceeded to knock up a cricket score in disposals & clearances combined. What a beast. I don't think he has played a better game for the club.

Plowman: After accounting for Cameron in our last win, this time it was the extremely dangerous Walters' turn.

Newman: That turnover in the last quarter which cost us a goal was ordinary. Fortunately he paid us back with that pass to Kennedy on the non-preferred which resulted in Bam Bam's 2nd goal, but his job on Matera was fantastic. It is not often we play a team with 2 (or more) quality small forwards & don't come out 2nd best. He & the Plow were crucial for us in defence.

JSOS: Although Fyfe kept on finding the ball, he didn't quite have the space that he had prior to JSOS being moved onto him. Well done Jack for repaying the coach's faith in moving you onto one of the game's best players.

LOB: Nullified Hill while at the same time winning his own ball. He is now looking like he belongs at this level & anyone who has suggested we should have drafted Ed Richards instead, needs to have a rethink about this.

Kennedy: After looking off the pace early on in the midfield, he became a dangerous forward when moved there. Kicked 2 very good goals (what a clutch kick his 2nd goal was). Having played forward at times during his junior years, he may well yet cement a spot in our 22 as a tough, uncompromising forward, who is a pretty good shot on goal.

Marchbank: I thought he was superb today. Got into good defensive positions to intercept the ball (9 intercepts, 2nd only to Newman's 12 for us) & mostly chose well when to go 3rd man up in a contest. He now looks to be back to where he was in his 1st season at our club.

Ultimately I could probably find positives for just about everyone of our players today, such was the team effort we witnessed. I am on such a high after this win. So far this is our best win of the year. I know there will be some sore bodies following this game, but I really hope the self belief which comes from such a win will see the group come out thinking they can win more often than not (I know I have used the word 'win' a number of times in this paragraph, but I'm just making up for lost time).

Go the Mighty Blues

Apologies BB, I misunderstood your post. I agree, it may well have been Jacks best game of his career, for multiple reasons. I said elsewhere he is not like his Dad, he is like his Grandad. He is not polish, he is grunt. Don't judge the grunts too hard for not having polish.

It looked to me like he and Bam Bam were changing ruck rovers today (old fashioned concept, I know, but it may be a good time to bring it back) they changed from FP to on ball for the first half, then JSOS was given a job on Fyfe after half time.
Have to agree both bam bam and bsos had standout games today .... onwards and upwards!

So happy!

That was an awsome feeling.....we won and to actually win for once in the dying minutes makes the feeling even better......seems the boys are starting to thrive on Teague's game plan....we have always played well in the west....i think we play better on wider grounds in general.....Our Veterans really showed the way today, and our younger brigade payed attention....Dissapointed about CC hopeing its very minimal, and its a speedy one...cant wait for next week.....go Blues

95 when Earl flattened Worsfold I think?
Nah. couple of years earlier I think

Fat boy pushed him square in the back about half a dozen times. Gerard Healy onto it in the commentary but moron umpires did nothing. Kruse smart enough to change his start position at the boundary throws to counter dirty tactics.

Even multiple freo supporters on their board mentioning all the frees he gave away to Kreuzer that the umps ignored!

I would like to think we can work on overcoming slower starts at some stage. Less need for angina medication.
Part of me feels for Bolts. The green shoots were ready to blossom but, he bound them too tightly. Starting to flourish. Showed some depth today that we haven't had in recent history. Love it. Could easily have folded for an honourable loss but, "Not today."
I was about to lose my sh*t if we had an honourable loss today! Thank god didnt

Ed - Plan B - worked a treat when beaten early against Fyfe
Murph - love the finish
Our kicking today was shocking - maybe it was greasy, maybe the pressure was high but gee I thought we handed them the ball too often and I thought we were going to pay for it
Jack - didn't think a few years ago this skinny kid would be playing a shut down role in the middle - nice work
Backline - some great efforts, some dodgy kicks - Plowman did a nice job, Jones had some moments, liked the couple of grabs to get us going forward
Forwards - what a mixed bag, the clutch goals were glorious, some attempts were just diabolical

Aside from his nice goal Dow looks like he really needs a spell in the twos.

Seems like he's spending a lot more time forward which i'm fine with.

Less demanding position physically as opposed to always attending centre bounces and being in the thick of it like he was under Bolton and gets to learn how to play a different position.

A win for the ages. Much like the against the odd win against * in 2001.

Just finished the replay with 3 fingers of 16yr old Lagulavin, the scotch I save for watching the replay after a win. No surprises that the bottle was opened 3 years ago.

Great sign with 20 guys stepping up to pick up the slack for Crippa.

Amazing how people are critical of Walsh. Wet day and he missed his 3 chance at goal and and doesn't hit the long targets he tried for. Just was a couple of metres off on his distance. It is not as if he had any shocking disposals. LOB in comparison kicked 2 OOTF ( Loving the way LOB has blossomed in the last 3 weeks).

Loved Ed giving Bolts credit for all his development work.

If Charlie is out next week I would love to see TDK to come in for him. Probably a couple of weeks too soon

It's more that I see more value in keeping Kennedy in the side when Crippa returns. Not sure we can carry all of Kennedy, JSOS, Dow and Crippa. And based on today JSOS would be very stiff to get dropped.
