I'm hoping that TDK is getting a lot of advice from Kreuzer in how to turn into an extra mid after the ruck contest is finished with. Kreuzer adds much more than being a ruckman to the side.
What I want is for TDK to approach Dean Cox, and to get from him the specifics of how to function as a floating ruck who can play, in order of importance:

- a specialist ruckman with particular aptitude towards taps to advantage over solely hitouts.
- a kick behind play, to get him to sit behind the ball when we've got it locked in and to head off the quick incoming ball, denying the opposition the corridor.
- a floating CHF, who can get his opposition lost and can kick goals once provided a shot once isolated.

As valuable as Kreuzer/Grundy is as an extra mid - it adds a dimension to their play - at what point do you acknowledge that what you're getting from that role is frequently a poor ruckman and an average mid, instead of having an excellent ruckman who gives your mids first option who can play as a tall in other parts of the ground?

Think, Jarryd Roughhead/Kirk Tippett. Sure, you're getting 20 odd possessions, but surely the ball would be better off in the hands of a specialist in their role (Cripps/Kennedy/SPS) than in the hands of a mixed player.

Just to give everyone's memory a bit of a prod... but the AFL introduced the concept of banking some of your salary cap over a number of years before being able to use up to 105% of your salary cap.

SOS, for a number of years now, has gotten our salary cap down to where we are only using around 95-97% of it for our TPP. We have been apparently told that we have to stop banking our salary cap and start using our expanded part (the extra 5% bit) or we lose it. So... for the next 2 years apparently, we can spend the extra 5% over our salary cap before having to drop back down to just using the 100% level.

So, the money isn't an issue. We have more than enough to heavily frontload the rabbits contract and pay out most of it within the first 2 years... at least that's what I've heard.

Someone mentioned that Daisy might have non-playing options... maybe that's a development coaching/mentoring role at the club for new players. After all, we move Cam Bruce out of the midfield coaching team and put our midfield development coach Stanton in charge of that... so, we have a development coaching role for someone who is highly liked and respected within the club.

Daisy is a team player... always has been. So, if it's couched in a way to put the team first, he will take not getting a new contract with grace and poise and move onto the other options. Either way, if the rumour about Daisy not getting a new contract is true, then, while I don't like it, I'm going to be ok with that. Especially if he moves into development coaching/playing for the Bullants! After all, what can it do to hurt his future prospects. Because it's not like a good clubman hasn't moved into coaching by being a playing coach at the Bullants to kick off their coaching career!

I
I don't know about you, but I don't want the board to be completely attached to the coach. It's one thing to expect results from someone, it's quite another to be their friend.

We cannot allow nepotistic old Carlton to work their way back into proceedings, and that's if it went away in the first place.
I love how the original poster thinks he knows everything that MLG has been thinking at various stages of the journey. Of course, he’s just behaving like a typical passionate supporter and unintentionally making it all up. Lol

Just about everyone who bashes the fu** out of Carlton are either Premiershipmond or * supporters!
Yeah I am quoting my own post... I think that Chief needs to change the swear filter for bitch to something else... makes me sick to see it get converted into premiership! Especially when associated with that disgusting irrelevent club!

If we baited Barrett into looking like a d1ckhead he will just come after us on stupid stuff.
Like he doesn't come after us with stupid stuff anyway?

Kreuzer is usually trying to get the ball into the hands of a specialist mid if he has to go hunting the ball in the middle after a bounce. Plus his intercept and goal last weekend was exactly what we wanted from one of our specialist mids.

Bit suprised Daisy has no offer playing wise.
I think he has something to offer still and surely we could put a minimum offer on the table if we have the extra 5% cap space.
Ah well I spose there's a reason SOS is the boss and I sling packaging products.

Not saying he's not, nor am I saying that Kreuz hasn't been a terrific servant for the periods he's been able to get on the park. Just, your Mike Pikes/Darren Jolly's/Ben McEvoy's of the world - good rucks, better than average KPP - have been just as serviceable, if not more workable than their more talented contemporaries. You don't build strategies around these players, you look at the midfield as a whole and build strategies to beat that; with a more capable ruckman, the opposition can cultivate specific strategies to beat you, but will save them for when it matters.

Grundy had a great year last year, and trounced a number of good ruckmen in home and away before finals, where his run was only halted in the GF, when WC double teamed him and played essentially negative rucks on him, halving the dominant player's taps to advantage and knocking him off the line of the ball, preventing him from getting possession.

I don't want that for us. I want us to be excellent across the board, rather than possessing all time greatness in individuals. Make a complex equation across the midfield, and you can completely stump the minds comp wide across a season or two; make the equation stopping a single player, and it becomes much easier to accomplish.
