I do think when he first came in he wanted change and his headhunting of Walsh was a sign of that. But after Walshs death something happened and any further radical moves were blocked or not furthered

My guess is the review committee will be chaired by an external person but then the other members will be Ricciuto and Burton. Maybe Saunders.

Crucially, the external person will be someone respected and liked by the public. So when the review comes back all A-ok fans will struggle to get mad at the outcome <beloved SA Football identity> comes up with.

Thoughts on who? Not Wayne Jackson because he has integrity and would actually do it properly.

Not Blight because we couldn't guarantee the outcome. Loose cannon.

That's in line with my expectations - the review will be led by an 'external party' who just happens to be sympathetic to the current executive/board of the AFC. The scope of the review will be quite limited, not the top to bottom audit we require, so the outcome will be relatively meaningless.

Expect movement and shuffling of the deck chairs, with some expendables being held accountable (Harper etc are easy to get rid of), a bunch of recommendations which don't involve genuine personnel and structural change, and then we keep going how we were.

So someone with more knowledge on this sort of thing than me could answer, someone said on Twitter than Burton isn't contracted, but is on staff at the Crows (like we did to Craig), which means rather than just not renewing his contract, or paying out the remainder of it, we actually need cause to remove him, which he can then go back at us on for unfair dismissal. So a "nobody likes him" probably isn't gonna cut the mustard and I'm sure you couldn't use CM against him either as he could just blame them for those issues.

Im not sure about his contract situation but surely if we need good reason then just use the external review which will show most of the **** ups were on him. Bang. Done.

I can't recall you being as prevalent as you are when these discussion topics are going. Nowhere to be seen most of the year.

He pops up to post something very vague (that had been posted as a rumour before) and passes it off as some sort of intel, then disappears for a few days only to post another vague rumour.

They've already decided he's not an issue, they wouldn't act on anything even if the review did find him as a problem.

They knew he had problems, they all promised the players things would change and what a surprise, nothing did. What's that saying about a leopard changing its spots? Burton is what he is and he's not the sort of person who's ego can't handle being questioned about anything, even if the source is more experienced or well qualified. This is now 100% about protecting a mate and a "loyal servent" rather than what's best for the AFC. Same reason Campo is untouchable.

You make a really good point. Didn’t someone say that they promised to make the changes around the club after the camp debacle and nothing changed? They also needed more fun etc? Was that the club or a journo?

So if they failed to make changes after that total and utter SNAFU what chance do we have??? It’s still awesome down at the mighty AFC.... I might have to change what AFC stands for...
