I'd think based on Liam Ryan with Pick 26, that Sokol will be gone inside Top 30 at national draft.
Riccardi given the lack of depth in key position talent in U18s, and given that Kreuger went for a Pick 42 exchange Pre National Draft, you'd think would be gone inside Top 45 at national draft.
But just my best guess.

Hey hey hey can everyone on this board just slow down on Sokol. He's a decent mid forward at WAFL level much like Mcadam who went to the crows and even then pretty sure Sokol doesn't have the same upside. He isn't in the same stratosphere as Liam Ryan. I mean they ain't even playing the same sport. Sokol is back end rookie (caveat haven't seen him live too many times). I would just be very surprised if he is taken inside 40 and even if he is taken I would suspect its 50 plus.

Players like Sokol are available but we elevate Zac and Simpson to the boys club.

Wasn’t Jones on the Rookie list.

Assuming Cunico, Scooter, Kelly, Buzza, ZSmith are gone.

In Steven, Pick 14, pick 16, potential pick 25, 35.

So that is 5 in and 5 out. Doesn’t Zach Guthrie also need to come on. That spells the end for Hendo which to me is ridiculous. Can ZGurhie or Simpson stay on the Rookie list another year. When do you make a call on them as best 22 potential as I don’t see it for years yet and other coming onto the list will get more opportunities than they will. Hendo will be more use than them over the next 12-18 months.

Zuthrie and simpson have done their max years on rookie list and have contracts. We either have to elevate them or delist and pay the contracts out.

Further to that I hope in this trade period given we have no spots Wells actually moves picks to 2020 so that when we have a clean out we have the 6 necessary picks under 35. No more Hail Marys with picks over 50.

out: Ablett, Taylor and id say 4-5 more out of Parsons, ZGuthrie, Simpson, Abbott, Fort, Tarca, Jarvis, Kennerley, Brownless. Cocky, Rohan and Krueger will be nervous as well. Given all of those will play very limited AFL next year.

Cunico and scooter out makes room for Simpson and Zuthrie. Kelly out effectively gives us one list spot.

Maybe RAbbott does go to the saints as part of a Steven trade just to free up the list spot? No Abbott, Smith, Buzza though. We'd need to rookie a ruck. Maybe Jeremy Goddard from the WAFL as a rookie if available. Would be a bit of horse trading but would allow us to keep Hendo.

Some of the contract structuring over the last 18 months have certainly lacked planning. None of those guys were leaving to other clubs on multi year deals

I had an email from AFL trade tracker. It mentioned Mason Wood for Jack Henry in a straight swap.

First I'd heard of this.

Do we have too many defenders and want to restore list balance by trading for a mobile forward?

Not sure I like the idea tbh.
Mason Wood is more or less average, and already 26.
Jack Henry is still very young and has room for improvement, plus he is a bit of an athletic beast.

It would make sense, as NMFC are looking to bolster their defence, and Cats are looking to bolster their forward line. Plus we seem to like getting ex-Falcons boys back on the list.
Both clubs seem to do the deals with little fuss.

Are they both that good? It is a best in country AFL list should they be there?
I wouldn't think so.

Or maybe the club really believe in Simpson & Guthrie & think the time investment they've made in both is worthwhile continuing, you wouldn't criticizing multi year deals if any of them took the leap.

But you agree Wells is pretty good at what he does right? You'd think he knows next years draft is compromised.

I wanted us to chase Callum Coleman-Jones or Riley Collier-Dawkins from Richmond. They have missed flags. CCJ has a couple in front of him (Nank is young still).

Looking further away Bonar and Hately maybe, though Hately I expect can't be snagged easily.

Letting Taylor and Ablett play on might fly in the face of pursuing these players but that's where I'd be looking. Hopefully Grigg helps poach some Tigers.
