Assistant Kingsley stays loyal to the Tigers

Richmond assistant coach Adam Kingsley has chosen to stick with Tigers rather than pursue the vacant Adelaide Crows coaching position.

Kingsley's decision to withdraw from the race for the Crows' coaching job leaves GWS assistant Matthew Nicks and Hawthorn assistants Scott Burns and Adem Yze among the remaining candidates to replace Don Pyke.

Kingsley, who coached Richmond's midfield in their premiership this year - his first at Tigerland - had been viewed as one of the leading candidates for the coaching position before his withdrawal.

Kingsley, who spoke to the Crows but never had an in-depth presentation, told Adelaide he wanted to develop further at Richmond and, in effect, the former St Kilda assistant and current lieutenant to Damien Hardwick has backed himself to win a senior job in future.

Yze recently signed a contract extension with the Hawks but is free to leave should be land the senior job at Adelaide. Assistant coaches almost invariably are not held to their contracts, or have get-out clauses, in the event of winning a senior position.

Kingsley was a leading candidate for the Crows position when Pyke won the job at the end of 2015 following the death of Phil Walsh during the season. He presented strongly then and was thus invited to apply again following Pyke's exit.

Hawthorn obviously would need to revamp their coaching panel if either Yze or Burns is appointed at the Crows.

Both Burns and Nicks have South Australian backgrounds, which is arguably an asset in coaching Adelaide.

When Ellis gets up to the suns every time he gets out on the gas with the boys he needs to talk up his days at the tigers , all the highlights , a bit like me in the lunch room at work. Hopefully he has a premiership tatt on each cheek , there will simply be no escaping it

He’s our new hands on talent scout at the feeder club

Gonna beat wearing this bad boy at training sessions live streamed to Balme

Not really ! Pickett wouldnt have been drafted if Richmond didnt take him and got passed in both the November & Rookie drafts and it was only due to the new draft that a team gave him a chance as well as being 27 years old where Kelly was taken with pick #24 in the national draft at 23 years of age.

Cats used pick #24 to draft Kelly and trumped West Coast who was confident Kelly would be there at their pick #32 where they were intending to take him
Kelly would have been drafted 100% if the cats didnt nab him early
Okay mate.. Don't think I'm really getting the spirit of my point across so sure let's go with your hypothesis it's as good as any

I was just replying to the post where it was mentioned Kelly owed geelong for giving him a chance , I just said that he would have got a chance anyways and would have been at west coast.

we melted about him being a dud just 3-4 months ago lol now thankful he stays

Bonar wouldn't be the worst pickup if we can get him on a cheap contract. He's a really big and thick inside mid with great penetration on his kicks, he'd fill the hole on our list.
Bonar is on $400k a year and has 2 years left on his contract still

The minimal interest may well be because he hasn't decided on leaving yet.

If Freo offered him a best 22 spot over playing VFL he may take the chance.

Yep but it wasn’t me who wants him leaving. I don’t think he’s worth what was said earlier but would prefer to hold. He’s contracted so even if he has a desire to leave he won’t be leaving for much
