It is entirely feasible that the season gets shut down at some point.

Consider a scenario;

Coronavirus has been spreading rapidly through the community. Clubs have gone in to lock down (no social functions etc...) to attempt to protect players. Crows play Richmond at MCG on Sat April 11. All precautions have been taken. On Monday 13th April a Richmond player is unwell and goes in for tests. All Richmond players and Crows players are instructed to stay home until results are known (no training). On the Wednesday, the results confirm that the Richmond player has tested positive for Coronavirus. All Crows and Richmond players are then to undergo testing, but given incubation periods, no one will know if other players have contracted the virus until 7-14 days later.

On Thursday April 16th, Crows are set to play Essendon. Does the game go ahead? Do Essendon risk it? What if their players refuse to play?

This is a very possible scenario. And could be repeated multiple times across the league. I wonder what plans the AFL have in place?
Yeah looks like the season will be be shutdown at some point or we will see games at empty stadiums. All comes down to the Players Association whether they play or not but obviously whatever the govt decides will override everything. I was thinking whether players will get paid for the season if they don't play. I presume the Afl has insurance for this type of scenario. Or likely the players would have income protection insurance through the PA. I know in the nfl if the players go on strike they don't get paid but this is a completely different scenario. I cannot see the afl forcing players to play with corona going on in the community although fit athletes are low risk for problems. In regards to draft picks surely last years ladder position would be used which is pick 4 if my memory serves me correct.

I don't understand this approach. Why do we play every other year when flu is an even bigger problem?

Weren’t rumours (here anyway) that Brouch was filthy with BB over the management of his groin injury over the preseason and leading into the 2018 season. Rumours also he was considering a trade

crossed wires, my BB was Brendan Bolton in response to Vader posting that Carlton late season surge might have been due to sacking an unpopular coach. Our BB couldn’t be less popular and there’s no doubt he was despised by anyone with a brain in their head.

Chapman thought he was great.

A few years on from gleefully letting Brett Burton leave, Brisbane have every player available for round 1

you can just imagine the convo

BB - “Roo, you wouldn’t believe it, these guys are blaming me and not renewing my contract. We’re working from a tin shed mate, a tin shed. I’ve just bought that bloody investment property, this will cause me grief”.
Roo - “Don’t worry mate, I’ll just roll a re-structure, you‘ll be fine”

You missed:

“It’s Leppitsch’s fault, he wants me to over train them, I need to get out”

And I didn’t make that up

This is a common line being put out from there which is extremely uninformed and ignorant. █████ has been running with this stupid line as he is more concerned with being re-elected than peoples health.
The following article shows the differences between the flu and covid 19.
The major reason for concern with covid 19 is that it is up to potentially 3 times more infectious than the flu and potentially has a 30 times higher death rate. The major concern with covid 19 is that many people dont even realise they have it and seems to be transmissible without symptoms or before symptoms develop as its incubation period is around 5 days. We also don't have a vaccine for it and dont know if it will mutate into another worse virus. The other concern is that the world's experts know nothing about it and have never seen it before.
The critical factor is that we must contain it as best as possible otherwise our hospital system will be completely overwhelmed and many more elderly and potentially non elderly people will perish.

If you want to inform yourself have a look at 60 minutes australia last Sunday with the world's leading expert for infectious diseases Dr Gabriel Leung. He summed up why this is not the common flu and the reason why Governments are taking this very seriously.

Influenza kills more people than the coronavirus so everyone is overreacting right Wrong and heres why - MarketWatch

''potentially'' ''might'' ''could''

That doesn't show Fagan in a favourable light. He got duped into thinking Brett Burton was competent. What a mug.

Either that or it was just spin and he's lying out of his ass.
Given he called Burton a superstar, I think he was duped

Well yes this is why I was asking, no need to be such a dick about it.
I have a friend who is a virologist (and who is working on COVID 19) who has stated that eventually everyone in the world will get it eventually and for most people it will be like a bad cold / mild flu, it is just a matter of time. Also that the primary people who are at risk of dying are the elderly and people with respiratory conditions, as the primary mode of fatalities is from pneumonia or similar that you contract once your immune system is compromised by corona. It apparently is perfect for spreading.

Yes indeed - i'm fascinated by the population's reactions based on the fear of the virus.
It's a "panic-epidemic" rather than a "pandemic".
In my view, this whole episode shows how powerful and dangerous the media is with its fear-mongering and panic inducing sensationalism.

Using 60 Minutes as a reference is the television version of Wikipedia

I wasn't being a dick about it. It just annoys me when that fool █████ is trying to say the common flu is worse and nothing to see here and some of his idiot supporters believe it doesn't even exist and brought about by the democrats to bring him down. Meanwhile they now have a huge problem in the US heading towards how Italy is due to the fact that they didn't have the proper test kits and haven't even been testing in any significant numbers. Meanwhile you have some experts predicting 60% of the world's popn will get this thing with anywhere from 50 to 100 million dead. And that's only the first wave. The 2nd wave is generally much deadlier and if it mutates into a much deadlier strain we are all ****ed.
The real problem is these wet markets which China has shut down roughly 20,000 of them since Corona started. But they are rampant still right throughout Asia run by organised crime . These things are ticking time bombs which all governments need to get rid of once and for all.
