i would say sometime between 2009 - 2012 is when the AFL purposefully set out to control how teams are playing and changed the definition of "attractive footy" to suit where they wanted the league to go

Good grief. Why don't they just create a "Premier League" of the Big 4 (tm) and the rest of us can run around in the ammos. Sheeesh. A "national" competition where it is possible to walk between the headquarters of all the important teams...
Will be ******* annoying when we are giving full membership money to the clubs to keep their heads above water yet can’t even watch our games on fta. The AFL had better give us cheap Kayo then. ******* hate this organisation.

As well as "trail blazer" Eleni, Matt ******* Nicholls is on his way to quarantine in SA for the Showdown. Hopefully he hates both SA teams equally. Not sure what "slashed by weeks" means - probably a typo...

Eleni Glouftsis says she’s honoured to do her bit for football and quarantine before becoming first woman to officiate a Showdown

South Australia’s Eleni Glouftsis is ‘humbled’ to become the first female field umpire to officiate a Showdown and ensure a critical home town clash between the Crows and Power.
Melbourne-based Croweaters Glouftsis, Leigh Haussen and Craig Fleer will breathe new meaning into state-of-origin commitment by umpiring the June 13, Round 2 Showdown. Glouftsis, Haussen, Fleer and veteran umpire Matt Nicholls will park their own lives through a 14-day quarantine in Adelaide before Showdown 48 which enables the Crows and Power’s lockdown on the Gold Coast to be slashed by weeks.

Not sure the Crows are a big fan of Nicholls either....

I've never thought of Nicholls as biased, just incompetent. We can only hope he's equally terrible for both teams.

Nicholls is (at times) a terrible decision maker but an excellent runner. Reason he's been held in high view by the umpiring department but hated by many fans - he reliably gets in all the right positions throughout games but often makes the wrong call.

What a beat up. Its only 4 rounds so there's only 16 games total on national FTA. Of course some clubs will miss out if they aren't prioritised for Thurs/Fri night games which make up 8 of the 16 games.

Clubs will get national fta games through the rest of the season

Can't remember what Adelaide Oval game it was, but did notice he and Travis talking and laughing while an opposition player came off for blood rule ..
Maybe there is hope he gives us a good run. Have a chat to him Travis LOL

THE AFL is still considering whether it will allow teams to field additional players on the interchange bench this season, as it looks to finalise minor alterations to the game in preparation for the restart of the 2020 campaign.

The League's football operations boss Steve Hocking confirmed on Wednesday that it was still debating a push from senior AFL coaches to allow extra players on the bench, in what would be the final possible amendment ahead of the season recommencing on June 11.

Given we have returned to a traditional fixture (1 game per week) there is absolutely no need for an increased bench (or shortened quarters)
