The WA Hub was offered early in the piece before the season restarted, providing the Vics came here and did 14 day quarantine. The AFL refused, much to WA's disgust and the whinging Vics comment from the Premier. Had the offer been accepted and all Vic teams moved to hubs and hotels in safe states there would likely be no Covid issue at EFC now and we'd be playing in front of 30 000 crowds with all that money and jobs generated for each AFL club from next weekend.

The costs of the hubs would far exceed what at the time would have been only a possible future decision to allow crowds in.

The initial decision was the right one

The politicians said at the time they would negotiate with the AFL re that and, corporate box, numbers of possible supporters, 4sqm rules, cost etc. The AFL flat out said no before being prepared to even look at it. The Vic teams refused at the time, to travel over and go into 14 day quarantine.

The best option based on the information provided was the one taken.

It may be that rhe best option in the next phase is the 10 Victorian clubs going in to hubs option given the persistent community infection

No it was not the best option at the time, as argued by many at the time, including numerous figures outside of WA. Further it has gone on to be proven it was not the best option. It was a mistake!

'i decide who other people are and aren't close with.
Can't just see anyone you like and say you're close to them. After a few pints I'll dry hump a stranger, is that close enough for you?

(and for the record I'm sure Pickett was close to his friends too, but it was against the rules, he was suspended, and I wasn't sitting her whinging about it)

Wow, what a mess up

So we still have inaccurate tests? Or just AFL sweeping this under and saying "he will follow 2-week isolation for to be safe (a.k.a, average time for Corona to leave the body)"
Possibly, broom, sweep rug?
In the context of the pandemic and a possible second wave in Victoria, do you really think this a "sweep under the rug" scenario?

The pandemic is bigger than the AFL or Essendon.

It's never been a secret the tests aren't totally accurate - https://www.labtestsonline.org.au/l...ions/covid-19/how-accurate-are-covid-19-tests

And as the tweet states, the Victorian Health Dept is undertaking the new test, not the AFL, making it impossible for some sort of AFL cover-up conspiracy.
