He's just pissed at the prospect of losing pick #3 if a bid comes in at #1 or #2 on Campbell. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

Adelaide should be in no mood for appeasing him, given the way we've been treated recently (i.e. Brouch compo).
I've been on this one for a while.

Sydney's best play is to get in ahead of any possible bid. They do this by trading in pick 1 or 2, guaranteeing they get an elite player before their academy pick.
They might still get a player they want at 3 and there be no bid 1 or 2, but do they take the risk??

Looking at their picks the only move could be to include their 1st round pick next year. We might be willing to swap a (or maybe two) second round picks next year for their 1st.

I don't think it happens though. I think it is unlikely we bid on Campbell at pick 1 and unlikely North does at 2. Sydney will get one of Thilthorpe, Hollands or DGB at 3, so they should be safe.

The Gold Coast SUNS have made a minor list change ahead of List Lodgement 1 on Wednesday afternoon.

SUNS players Jarrod Harbrow, Jack Hombsch, Jordan Murdoch and Zac Smith will come off the club’s primary list and will be put on the SUNS 2021 rookie list.

All four players will be Category A rookies in 2021.

We would want to have a buyer lined up early. We don't want to get to pick 39, and still be holding 40.
We should be lining up buyers now... & I imagine should be able to trade it when drafting around pick 30 once we have enough points from our remaining picks to match.

SUNS AND BLUES ADD VETERANS TO THEIR ROOKIE LISTS

Carlton has similarly moved veterans to their rookie list, with Eddie Betts and Matthew Kennedy sliding across.

SEN Chief Reporter Sammy Edmund believes Blues coach David Teague approached Betts about making the move in order to save a list spot, with the small forward agreeing without hesitation.

Still no to Mackay Scorpus ? .....it was ok for Eddie Betts

Sounds like we will have Mitch Hinge on our list next year.
One less draft pick to use
See my post above .....shift players to Rookie list

Leaving the obvious self-interest aside, I can sort of see his point. But what he's suggesting is basically draft tampering.

Is anyone smart enough / can be bothered to tell us what picks 56/66/80 (with the discount) would be worth in terms of pick number? Surely we could rely on that, and trade out pick 40.

Thanks to Vader for laying this out in an earlier post, it's something I was thinking - 1/9/22/23 are our 4 "actual" picks, plus Borlase, matching at 56 or so, it leaves pick 40 sort of stranded and of no real value to us. I wouldn't be surprised if we trade 40 out to 2021 in some deal, much in the same way we got rid of 33 in the deal with Melbourne (which, the more I think about it, was a smart deal).

On the other hand, we might trade out one of 22/23 because we've got our eyes on a Hamish Special at 40 :p

If we plan on using Hinge as a utility type rather than pigeonhole him as a HB then I'm all for it.

Yeah and I'm pretty sure Beatson fired a shot at us in his interview immediately after the draft last year saying something like "when you have a high draft pick you don't stuff around with it". I believe it was in reference to the crows trading down and potentially missing Stephens.

Is he ?? How so... Because of his last name
Because we already have Jake Kelly

I don't know if anyone else had posted this from an Adelaide now article:

West Australian star junior Logan McDonald has declared he wants to be the national draft’s No. 1 overall selection, adamant he is no flight risk if Adelaide calls his name first on December 9.

The 196cm key position forward told the Herald Sun he would be a one-club player at the team that selected him, saying he would remain loyal to the club that gave him his first chance.

Obviously he's going to say it if asked but make of it what you will.
I have to see his face whilst he’s saying it. Then I’ll be able to tell if he means it.

Is there a video?

Nominally..
56 - 194
66 - 80
80 - 0 (points cut out at pick 73)

However, with less than 60 players likely to be selected, those picks are likely to come in a bit - with commensurate increase in points value. Don't be surprised if pick 56 starts the draft as pick 50 (before any F/S & NGA shenanigans).
