Another team from my SANFL mob South Adelaide panthers...... Get him!He looks good as a late pick.
BEAU McCREERY
South Adelaide
Medium forward
19, 186cm, 80kg
Ranking points: 72
Cross says: “The speed that bloke has is unbelievable. His pressure around the contest reminds me of the way Richmond has played in the past four years, so he would fit in perfectly there, as that pressure forward. He plays with great intensity and also has an eye for goal.’’
We say: As good as McCreery is offensively, booting 19 goals and rating elite for score assists, it’s his ability to also be so effective as a pressure forward that has kept him on the radar. The 186cm McCreery was the No. 1 ranked player in the SANFL for F50 tackles this year. He creates a contest in the air and, if he’s not the first one at the ball on the ground, he’s often the first player crashing into the opposition.
Matthews was a champion but never a KPF, even in the 80s. Walls was a legit CHF but an ordinary coach (Rhys-Jones playing out of his skin on Brereton won the GF). Jezza just played anywhere.
Malcolm played at FF a fair bit too.
Walls was a dud of a coach and is massively overrated imo. Very lucky to get the success that he got.
Matthews was a mid.

I really like to draft kids who sudden grow like 10cm in a year like Frederick.Yeah I think that's a dumb mantra personally. A guideline, sure. A bit like Ye olde "best available".
Quite a few 18 year olds are pretty new to being "talls", and I seem to recall Chapman is one of those. He may have all sorts of capabilities, as Fyfe and Mundy did.

John Longmire at least has a premiership as a coach to his name. And a decent win-loss ratio...Has a KPF in their playing days ever made a good AFL coach? Always felt to be a good KPF you need to be somewhat full of yourself hence why so many of them are in media today.
Well this is my opinion. And to be honest, I am going to be a it Biased here too. I have not heard too much of chapman so I cant comment on him.
I have seen Brayden Cook play. I dont think he will be a star, But I wont think he will be a Dud either. Again, he has grown from 180 cm to 188 cm in the last 12 months.
He looks good at some of the Highlights on youtube.
I am possibly going to get bagged out on this. If We we get Brayden Cook, think he will be like a Sheridan, Crozier or Cam Sutcliffe type. Not a guy you revolve your team around. But a solid 15-20 disposal a game player that plays on a forward Flank, wing or back flank.
After watching Robert Walls on open mike. I respect him more for his years as Brisbane coach.
Yes as a Player he was a solid CHF. Yeah it helps that he was at the right club at the right time as a player, in Carlton where they had more money than most VFL clubs at the time.
I will give him some respect playing and eventually coaching a cash strapped fitzroy side.
Yeah Robert Walls coached Carlton to a Flag in 1987. Carlton basically paid a fair bit to Lure SANFL and WAFL talent. They got Ken Hunter and John Dorotich from WA. They Also got Mark Naley, Craig Bradley and Stephen Kernahan from SANFL clubs.
You 2 posters can say he was overrated at Carlton. I agree to an extent.
But Again, I will always have massive Respect for his 5 years at Brisbane from 1991-5.
Give Credit for the Brisbane board to back Robert Walls for the Whole 5 year period.
In 1991, Brisbane were utter garbage, no culture, not much youth coming through and most importantly, a very Horrible culture. But at the Time, Brisbane didnt need a inexperienced coach to get that club out of the mess they were in. They needed an experienced coach that had success and try to turn Brisbane into a Successfull club. Robert Walls was the right person to do that.
By 1995, Robert walls turned Brisbane to not only a likeable team but also a competitive side that won games. Guys Like Akermanis, Michael Voss, Criag McCrae, Shaun Hartand other guys were developed under Robert Walls and played a part in that 2001-3 Premiership side.PLAYERCARDSTARTShaun Hart

Again..... he was overrated at Carlton, But at Brisbane, he was Criminally underrated.
For those who don't know what Lach is referring to...Ask Shane Strempel what he thinks

I suspect that even in 1991 that was pretty old school stuff!

so i took from that:
Sorry, but this can't happen.Assuming Cox and Reid are off the board by our first pick, we can assume from Walls' comments that we're hoping the draft will play out as follows:
1st round pick - best available
2nd round pick - tall forward or forward/ruck
Walker
Western
Baldwin and Cook?so i took from that:
1. really keen on one or more from SA
2. pick 12(15) will be best available regardless of needs.
in SA may have been interviewing late picks or for rookies, but if for #12(15), Powell and Cook are about that pick?
sorry but I just can't do any more multi knee recon players spending their careers in rehab. Let a team like Hawthorn give him a real chance.Baldwin and Cook?
Poulter and Pedlar as wellBaldwin and Cook?

Durdin as well.Baldwin and Cook?

It's against the laws of fundamental physics for the drafting views of the Freo BF community to match up with what we actually draft.
Yeah, I like how Poulter plays. Very clean and knows where his teammates are and where the ball is going. Bit more size and fitness and he could move towards that Cripps Fyfe Bont mid that the smaller players struggle to stop ploughing through the packsPoulter and Pedlar as well
