Port Adelaide's plan to use jumpers similar to Collingwood

Absolute disgrace, any team should be able to wear any jumper so long as it isn't a game day clash.

Home team wears whatever the fk they want. Away team wears whatever the fk they want as long as it doesn’t clash with the home.

I understand the brand and the profits from guernsey sales and the magpie name and what not, but for a once a year game that doesn’t involve Collingwood or Victoria. . . Eddie is a flog.

Other clubs could wear the colours in matches that were important to them if there was some significance behind it, provided it wasn’t against us and I don’t think too many fans of the dogs or any other clubs would mind.

and What about if they wanted the bulldogs colours, and a similar design, to be worn in all home games, because for a portion of their SANFL life they wore it, and they would play u in that jumper...?

Port selling Collingwood jumpers is a joke.

Port wearing the prison bars once in a blue moon is fine.

Supporters and the club selling, and wearing the jumpers on a regular basis is stupid. They joined the AFL. Collingwood was already there and they were wearing that jumper for forever and a day.

If some other club wanted to start wearing the hoops I'd say get stuffed

Do you care that North Melbourne have the exact same guernsey as Collingwood and share 50% of your colours?

Their guernsey is a lot closer to Collingwoods than the Prison Bars…..

not at all, north joined the competition wearing blue and white and will stay those colours forever, we wear black and white in stripes.

the only solution is to put it to a vote amongst Collingwood members.. see how they feel about it.. ultimately it should be up to them.

port can go on about it all they like.. but they need to step back and see it from the pies point of view..

if the shoe was on the other foot and the sanfl was the league that became the national comp and it was collingwood that joined the league, that port adelaide was already a team in, with the promise they would have a teal, black and white guernsey without the traditional stripes and this not bring their very similar guernsey along, different identity etc etc.. but then 20 years in, Collingwood tried to push to start wearing their original VFL guernsey..

how would port supporters feel about that?.. they should take a long hard look in the mirror and seriously pose that question to themselves.

some port supporter might not give a flying ****.. others might feel pretty passionate about it and simply disagree.. some might be white hot with anger about it.. but im quite sure all of them would want their grievances, thoughts and opinions heard.. just as Collingwood and its supporters probably feel right now.

give them a say.. lets see what the Pies supporters think.. all us supporters of other teams really shouldnt have an opinion because its not our clubs tradition and heritage that is potentially effected here.

give the Pies members a vote. who knows, maybe more than half couldn't even give a shit if port wear the black and white stripes every now and then.. but we wont know until they’re asked.

Eddie has had issues with North’s guernsey before. Forcing them to wear a clash guernsey for a home game against Collingwood iirc.

Ummm, no - the issue should be between Port Adelaide and the AFL and collingwood being a bystander - no other club should be able to determine if we wear the PB jumper for a few games where nil clash is going to happen.

I wonder if Eddie asked us if it was okay for them to wear a guernsey that looked very similar to one that is very prestigious to our club and supporters back from 2002-2004?

Correct. For all Eddie's posturing the trademarks belong to the AFL.

if it’s a non issue then wear ur afl home jumper at all home games... problem solved !
It’s not even your jumper, pretty sure you don’t wear a prison bar jumper.

It’s our jumper, we have worn it well before anyone on this site was alive. It’s 2 games a year. Again, it’s dumb that people from another club care about a game that doesn’t involve them. If Collingwood worn a black teal and white jumper I couldn’t care less. It’s dumb.

I wouldn’t be okay with that but I don’t believe this is what the Port administration are asking for?
