On the other hand if an expansion club came in and tried to steal our brand would we be ok with it? fu** that.

I hate the idea of footy clubs as brands. I hate the commercialisation of heritage and culture.

If there were an expansion club that had a pretty long history of being called the 'Kangaroos' and was a local powerhouse in its own right I wouldn't have any issue with them adopting the Kangaroos moniker and their historical Guernsey. If it were up to me, people would know them as the other Kangas who got pumped by North Melbourne every time we played.

Werribee didn't evaporate just because Coburg took the 'Tigers' moniker.

Call one Port Adelaide. Call the other Collingwood. The away side wears a clash jumper. Problem solved.

Genuinely feel for Port here. Imagine if we were unable to 'weasel out of' a prior Board's jettisoning of the name 'North Melbourne'?
Yup, I feel for them too. They were given an all or nothing choice when they were handed the opportunity to join the AFL. If they said no it would have been another SA club.

That said, I don't think they should be allowed to wear the prison bars full time. I think a lot of the Collingwood talking points are overblown, but a few have some merit. I absolutely support them being able to wear it as the home team in the showdown and for any heritage/traditional round type games though. The original heritage round deal was a crock of s**t. Make a new deal, in complete good faith, but also make it clear that it goes no further than that. Only exception I'd consider would be if they significantly brought the teal into the jumpers, though I understand how that goes against the entire point.

Heritage, club culture, and tradition are very important aspects of the sport still, whether AFL house and their moneygrubbing ways care or not. Genuinely thought it was a low point for the sport when Gil announced they would dock premiership points for wearing the prison bars without permission.

No chance. Can’t believe Power have conned people into getting behind them tbh. They’re a different footy club to Port Adelaide Magpies.

Exactly. Can’t make a deal with the devil and not pay the price.
