The myth is that you can't win a flag with players the quality of Ross or Billings in the team. Thats complete and utter bullshit.

Most premiership sides has players a lot worse than those 2 in them. Whoever wins the premiership this year will have players a lot worse than them in it.
Your issue here is that you are comparing them to flag winners bottom end.

they are supposed to be our top end.

on the money Billings is earning, he is supposed to be a top 5 player for us. Hehasn’t performed anywhere near that level on a consistent basis since he signed that deal.

different conversation ifhe was getting paid to be player 15-22.

Could care less if all of Ross, Billings, Dunstan leave. I've seen this movie before, it's boring as batshit at this point. Even if their replacements are worse, at least I'll have some variety in my life.
Its a bit like Jaws , the first one was great then it just got worse and worse as the years went by

They had better not fu** this up or they'll make it so we don't need a core. If it's one asterisk finals series in 15 years there isn't going to be a club eventually. Covid will make the AFL a lot less sentimental. I just hope if they fu** this up the AFL send in some external administrators to save us and not send us off to Tassie.
Probably be renamed the "Tassie Plovers"

The money is one thing, but it's all conjecture as to what he is really getting paid. Happy to concede the production hasn't met remuneration levels, and considering what has been reported, the club are of this view as well.

The 15-22 stuff is infuriating. Whatever (if any) compensation we get for any of the three mids in question will not be 15-22 in Round 1 next season. Which means short term regression for what is essentially an unknown.

I love what Dan McKenzie has done this season, but Billings is a better player regardless of what he gets paid. It's not olympic diving - we don't get a bigger score if we add a degree of difficulty by playing goers with less talent.

Either way, I think the club are running Billings out the door, would like Dunstan to stay on similar conditions to what he has now, and would like Ross to stay but Ross has decided to see what is out there.

So we need to improve the list so there is more quality in our top 10 players. That's not achieved by removing them for unders and bringing in late picks/DFA's to replace them.

If we can get into the position of Billings being the 15th best player on our list, we are going to be in a bloody great spot moving forward. What's not good is letting Billings walk, getting an average pick then someone like Dean Kent needing to stay around and being best 22 because it's either him or a kid who is not ready to play.

Danger is an aggressive midfielder and gets away with a bit of stuff, he does have power and speed off the mark. Ross has done some good tagging roles but I am not convinced that he can tag all the good ones but there is no other player suited for that role in the current team.

Dmac?

The club have said they are happy to keep Billings on a deal worth the value he contributes.

he hasn’t signed that. The club have 8 years worth of evidence and yet Billings clearly is still seeing himself as a better paid player.

This isn’t the premier league where clubs can operate however they want and pay players whatever they want. The value of the salary cap is that those that contribute significantly onfield - get paid the biggest pieces of it.
So the remuneration vs production aspect is hugely important and critical to success.

Talent matters little if Dmac is out performing Billings. I’d rather be playing Dmac.

Reece Conca is available now, is he worth a punt? Would prefer him to Talia personally, but I'm not against Talia. This is only on the presumption that Carlisle and Frawley are gone.
The Herald Sun has an article about Jake, but I can't read it. I gather he's been told he won't get a contract for next year.

Keep playing Bytel even if his numbers are low so what short term pain for a 10 year midfielder.
Exactly right

Just have to look at the Dogs and Bailey Smith as an example.

Pretty much got gifted the first 10-15 games (even with the mids they had played him as a pure on baller with Macrae taking on more of a wing role) and found his feet and exploded.

Neither is paying Billings to stick around and performing like the 18th bloke.

all outperformed him this year and some of these guys had limitedpre seasons and injuries too.

that doesn’t include Gresham Clark Coffield - who I think are all better.

The club have done exactly the right thing with their offer. You and Billings seem to overrate his worth.

Our backline is fine and he shouldn't be getting a game.

He can act like however he wants on the track and at sandy.
You do realise that after Webster that we are light in for lockdown smalls.

I can’t imagine Paton being in round 1s best 22. So next up would be a fit gears.

Bytel has only played 3 games since Mid May so I have no clue as to what is happening there. He was injured at one stage.
Don't think you were the one posting that Bytel went missing and comes up short BM.
I think a bit of slack need to be given to a young bloke who has played under 20 games is my point.

He was one of our best performed players in the first half of the season. His injuries in the second half of the year have really clouded peoples memories.

JWebb & Paton. Then at a pinch, Long (fine for injury cover). Or try either of Connelly or Sincs in a lockdown role and shift Clark to a HBF. Or Highmore to play small.

All better options. Hell at this point I would even try DMac first (after all, he appears to have discovered how to play football this year).

No wasnt me, but my point was to give him a few more games because 3 or 4 in 3 months is not many although he did have a run of of 9 earlier in the year and went ok. Cant see why they cant drop Kent and give Bytel a run in the forward line for the last game. Slower Tassie track might suit him.

Cause they're a troll?

Wow pretty impressive trolling then. Seems to have a lot of knowledge about St.Kilda players.

I don't agree with many of his views, however I don't see him as a troll. Don't mind his input on the whole.
