What's our "second oldest" list in the comp look like age wise with McKernan, Frawley and Carlisle leaving?

Crazy when you think that these players are the oldest on our list. And all are not likely or questionable as to whether they will be on the team in the next 1/2 years.

Ryder- 33
Geary- 32
Frawley- 32
Mckernan- 30
Hannebery- 30
Roberton- 29
Carlisle- 29
Hunter- 28
Ross- 27
Webster?- 27
Wood- 27
Kent- 27

That would leave Hill and Crouch as the oldest players both being 27 currently and 29 in 2 years time, when these players are gone. Would arguably make us one of the youngest lists in the competition.

Has played some good footy at the Swans as a forward.

Not sold he'd offer too much in the ruck though. Probably more of a chop out rather than the partnership we currently see.
He's been learning from Naismith and Hickey give him a year playing forward and learning from Marshall and Ryder and he'll improve his ruck work.

When Ryder's been out this year hunters come in as the main ruck. Next year when Ryder doesn't play McLean comes in as a forward and chop out. Him being a better forward than ruck is better for us anyway.

Agreed. If we do get him, I think it's an indication of a post Ryder plan for Marshall to be the main ruck with McLean the chop out. I also think it would be an indication that Bing isn't in the short term plans.

If we got McLean, he would be more a replacement for McKernan on the list and we would likely need to keep Hunter as a pure ruck back-up unless we tried someone else from the state league.

The article on Dunstan on the AFL site reads as if he didn’t get any bites and is likely going to Gold Coast as a DFA or rookie.
Also, he was not going to be offered a new deal from us immediately.
Seems he is a not high in demand player.
By us, nor anyone else.

Wtf ? So in the space of one afternoon we’ve gone from “with the 3rd round pick from Dunstan” or “ we ll upgrade pick 40 from Dunstan “ to “ we were never gonna get anything because no one will offer him anything other than not much for 1-2 years “
It’s like when we miss out on a gun it’s “ he’ll make all the difference “ to “ his disposal is pretty average “

Vacated 3 spots already. Think we will have a pretty decent clean out this year. If we can't get deals for fringe players we can just keep them for good depth.

These others should be no brainers and once they are out it should be enough space to fill the list with replacements anyway.

That indicates to me that we've said have a look and then get back us. Still a bit to play out yet.

Yes, it makes me laugh thinking about Ryan Griffen and Deledio and any other players that left their dud team only to watch their dud team win a flag.

Grffen could have been a premiership captain lol.

Buckley! X3

any chance one of you good campaigners can give me a tl;dr summary of the last few days of the last thread?

I see Dunstan is gone but that’s all I really know tbh… btw makes no sense why we would delist and not see if we could get a 3rd round pick out of him (if not better), especially considering he boosted his value with some pretty decent form this season?

would rather keep Clav and ship on Lonie.

“Farcical scenes at St Kilda’s RSEA Park this afternoon when the list management team accidentally delisted Jack Steele. He’s now an unrestricted free agent and can join any side” - Damian Barrett.

I rekon we have delisted Dunstan because we have an agreement with another FA so we know we won't be getting any compo.

Talia seems the most likely on list requirements.

In further embarrassing news for the bayside club, it appears the Saints accidentally demisted star ruckman Rowan Marshall today.

Over his career Crouch has been rather solid and not missed a great deal of football.
He is also a BnF winner and All Australian.

yeah his missed this year. But we don’t know how bad that groin is or if it was a case of I’m leaving and I’ll just take the year off and get myself cherry ripe for my new club.

Talia is an injury concern. But is a bonafide gun defender and we are lacking a genuine key back to go with Howard.

if both passed medicals. Why say no?

your talking substantial improvements on Carlisle/Frawley and Dunstan.
Why not develop Clav? 197cm quick and strong and seems okay in the air... Lets develop someone who seems to have a great upside..

Weve already spent some time on him, why don’t we keep going and actually see what he can do? What’s he played…around 3 games?
