I back Libba to find gold in the draft, if he thinks the bin pickings are better I'd trust him. There will be some good picks in this draft and some late ones might be better than normal. If we don't take them we have seen them up close so have a fair idea of what they are about.

Ross and Billings look set to stay.
Paddy Ryder about to sign a one year deal
Sam Alabakis been delisted
Lonie Hunter and Kent waiting on a deal
According to Mitch Cleary

Obligatory gif of Scott in the cheap seats.

Rendall & Buckenara are rent-a-quotes who add nothing at trade/draft time.

Its a dead set giveaway when a bloke doesn’t understand it the basics of free agency to the point where he suggests we trade out free agents.

The next piece of research that Buckenara does will be his first.

It actually baffles me how they were paid list managers and “Experts”.
Regular Rudy from BigFooty could be a list manager if those 2 are experts

I lost all interest in Buckanarra the year he said our trade/draft was a fail because we gave up pick 6 for Carlisle and 18 because we could have drafted Kieran Collins.

Said Collins was the 3rd best player in the draft.

Collins was drafted at pick 26 by the Western Bulldogs. He was the 11th KPP taken in the draft. He played 1 game in 3 years before being delisted.

#expert
He was also in that collision outside Ballarat and thought the playing and leadership at the bulldogs was as toxic an environment as can be. I’ll defend the bloke cos I worked with a relative of his and got some really good intel.

My neighbour has a nephew who moved from another AFL club to the Dogs in the same period and said the same thing. Actually retired from footy citing that he hated the macho bullshit inside footy clubs after enjoying his time at his first club.

Yep I’m not surprised mate. Some of the stuff I heard was pretty damning.

We have all got opinions. No one here seems to like any of the "experts" opinions unless it suits their own narrative. Buckenaras piece in The Sun should be coming up shortly and we will see what he has to say about us because he is doing every club. If he is clueless as well, who's opinion are we going to listen to? It's obvious that these blokes who do it for a job have no idea !!!!!

Most people rate Twomey and the other guys on AFL Exchange.

Rendell is not very clever.

The first bit about us having a bad preseason was lifted straight from here. Obviously things could have been done better but to say they didn't work on fitness is plain bullshit.

Didn't bother with the rest but it sounds like it didn't get any better.

Buckenara is worse.

Didn't they win the flag around that time? Maybe we need some macho toxicity down Linton. St

I do still think fitness was an issue for a lot of the year. We ran out games substantially better in the latter half of the year once match fitness started to really come in. I mean, we didnt fire the performance coach for no reason afterall.

If they are drafted between picks 1-20, we dont get them.

If they are bid on between picks 21-40, we can match the bid with draft points and get them at a discount. We can do this with later picks, we dont need to trade into the 20/30s. If we dont have enough points with our picks this year, we go into a points deficit for our pick in that round next year which just slides that pick back a few places.

If they are bid on after pick 41, we can get them with our next available pick.

Thanks for the clarification. These rules are surely in response to the dogs getting jamara last year. Outside of bulldogs supporters, everyone thought this draft allowance was utterly unfair. A no. 1 pick for the price of some grouped later picks. Even though it will be disheartening not to get these two good young players, it will ultimately be better for the integrity of the league in general. My personal opinion, the AFL should go one step further and do away with NGA preferential allowances for any clubs during the draft. An NGA draftee should be happy just to get drafted

Looking at a few of the phantom drafts over the past few months and the list is long , I would say anything down to 45 players or so have been mentioned in drafts of 20 to 30 - so the depth of this draft looks very good.

This draft has the usual top 5 players but after that it goes very deep - for instance Uzland is mentioned in the top 10 in one of the latest drafts and he is not named in many top 20 phantom drafts.
Another guy Hobbs was a top 5 pick and he is pick 12 in another.
Owens is not named in any drafts that I can see and a standout to me has not even been mentioned in Bazzo who was best on ground in the latest WA vs SA 18s game and currently playing seniors in the WAFL.

Honestly I would attempted to get a couple picks in the 2nd round because there could be a few standout players been left out of the first round.

To be fair we’re always trying to trade free agents here

Probably helps that they’re not ex AFL players tbh.

They also have a niche where they do the civilised peripheral stuff. The guys who come on for 5 minutes are basically saying what ever they have to to get attention.

Just a friendly reminder that Ross was one of our best players in a cutthroat final against Richmond last year. Had identical stats to Steele. Not sure why we should lose him just for the sake of it. I wouldn’t be disappointed if he stayed but I know I’m probably the only one.

No you're not completely alone. I'm one of the very few sickos here that would much prefer flick Billings and keep Ross...I would've been okay with Dunstan staying too. Both try to get the best out of themselves...career wise Ross has been better than Billings, and Dunstan has tried a lot harder to get the most out of his abilities.

Libba the bin chicken of the recruiting world.

I agree with Billings I would’ve much rather lose him than Ross because to me Jack was meant to be a match winner but somehow he’s turned into a nothing player who only gets on the end of it when things are going well. Higgins has overtaken him already IMO but if they think he’s worth keeping then I’ll back them in and hopefully it pays off.

I'd imagine you're younger than I am. I'm middle aged and my patience is worn...I have to be sparing with what's left. The same goes for trusting ANY organisation 100%.
At my age it's all been simplified to suit myself. I appreciate guys whom work hard, crack in, make an effort and try their best. Having kids did that to me...I get pissed with those that don't, and get proper pissed with self entitled ****s that do nothing when things don't go their way.
I am aware that I may hold the world's smallest violin, but it's tuned to my song...and you will all have to pry it from my cold dead hands to get it 🎻🤣
