Who do you think we are working with Rors? Who has got plenty of mid field frdp's? Hmmmmm
List spots can be filled easily - we will end up with a minimum 3 in the draft , we will most probably get a unused draft pick from a club that can't use them all and then in the rookie draft we can add another 3 - so that fills the void.
However they need to make every selection count and Windhager by all accounts is a must get.

You don't know what they are cooking up , but at the moment they don't have to many options to improve there draft hand.
Would they give up next years 2nd round draft pick to get into this years 2nd round or use it on a experienced player we need.

Case in point, Jack Billings. Hasn’t become the player we thought he’d become because he is far more outside than we thought he was. Transition to the midfield was & is never gonna happen

Yet we just gave him an extra 4 years

If we do go after BING next year then Webster will come into discussion to offload due to the salary cap but won't be this year. I was thinking about this yesterday when looking over who is out of contract next year. Hanners, Long, Battle and Webster are the main ones who would be on decent coin. No surprise to see them all gone by the start of 2023.
I’d expect battle to go to lions and long to dogs this year.

Yep me too. I couldn’t believe we offered 4 years. Min would of been 2 with a trigger and a lot more low balled than reported.
How much is he on? Nobody knows. The list manager knows what he is doing.

Nah
Billings can play and deserved the years. He will come good now the pressure is off and he is getting paid what he is worth.
Nice kick, good hands and makes good decisions with the footy.
Billings is a sound player and is more than serviceable , giving him a 4 year contract will turn out to be a very good deal in the end.
Ross is another story , he has reached his peak as a player and giving a 28yr old more than 2yrs would not a wise move considering he might not even be able to hold his spot in the 22 if Bytel , Hannerbery , Byrne , Connolly , Sharman , Gresham and Paton are trying to squeeze into the 22.

3yrs max. 2yrs with a trigger for 3rd would have been perfect. He just a player.

He’s basically a slightly better version of Tom Phillips… But I’d even say Phillips is harder than Jack

My understanding is that we offered him a year. Same with Ross (in that they were offers to entice them to leave I think)
I haven't seen anything about Dunny getting offered a contract. I thought that we'd said straight up that he's not going to get a contract.
One of the mods on the D&T board posted this a few days ago in the Dunstan thread, FWIW:
He was offered a year but in the exit interview they all agreed it would be better to part ways (according to Luke himself in an interview). Coach doesn’t rate him.

I guess if he can’t find something else he might still take the year, depends if the coach’s opinion is vindicated by the market or not.

I'm hoping it is more like this is what he is wanting 4 years and no one is willing to go there hence his 2 years with us is still top. Its not the money, its the length of contract.

Im not against him staying on a modest wage. I really hope we are not offering him way more than anyone else would want to pay.
He was pretty
Dream Scenario:

1. Turns out spook is still on our list and every journo is just saying 'delisted'. GCS offer him 3 years on $400k triggering a 3rd round pick (47).
2. Ross also gets a great offer (from god knows where lol) maybe Essendon haha, 4 years on 500k triggering end of 2nd round (39)
3. Ben Long wants to head to Richmond, who are willing to hand over (28).
4. Trade Josh Battle to GCS for a future 2nd (which we'll promptly send back next year )

4. Trade Josh Battle and pick #9 to GC for pick 3 and future 2nd 😉

Yep, just a player

If he was anything more at least one club might have had a bite at him

Nobody said Coff would be traded. Contracted, still a required player, but other clubs have asked the question.

So say Coff asks to be traded and we are offered a late FRDP? We won't accept that. Maybe we would take two but who is offering that?
Coff in my view is highly unlikely to be traded.
I really think Long, Battle and Ross are the ones that will be likely but not our emerging stars.
Funnily enough, didn't we get Coff, Long and Battle for O'Meara?

Right. So let’s hope our new fitness and development guys are up to it.
Almost the most important draftees IMO.
Exactly for some reason when development is poor, people think that replacing the young guys youlve got with other young guys will fix the issue. Untill you fix the development you’ll never move forward. I personally think our development team is good at getting young guys to a really solid footing and developing really strong role players. Conversely they struggle to get players to take the next step to stardom.

Damn this Dunston situation is looking quite the debacle. Can’t imagine him coming back after what he’s said publicly though.
He was never coming back. Dont think the contract is still on the table. Once you get the coach offside you may as well move on.
It happens. Farren Ray told Eade to GAGF'ed after they lost a 2008 final and Eade was blaming him.

Told he would never play for the Bulldogs again. Came to us.
