Now this is not directed at you because you haven't done it but i will use that last sentence to highlight a gripe i have with a lot of footy fans at the moment.Macrae was one of the Dogs best last night. His surge of touches came when the dogs were making a charge, so he certainly correlates with winning.
His knock IMO is that he appears to have very tidy disposal, but generally very safe or short options. Give me 25 Bont dangerous and creative touches over 35 tidy but boring Macrae touches.
Genuinely embarrassing if you aren't trolling... Walsh came off Macrae to contest Bont and give Cripps a free run at itIncase anyone thinks I was trolling....

How do you explain that?
That's Carlton basically saying we don't give a shit about you......go do your thing.

No guarantee that Bont would have left Cripps but he did in that instance.Genuinely embarrassing if you aren't trolling... Walsh came off Macrae to contest Bont and give Cripps a free run at it
It is not about not rating Macrae, it is about letting one of the best stoppage players in the comp have the best chance to impact the contest. And he did they went on to get the clearance through Cripps.
You highlighted a specific play, i responded to it.No guarantee that Bont would have left Cripps but he did in that instance.
More to the point....Walsh has made the decision to leave Macrae on his own.
Do honestly think that was the only instance in which Macrae was left unattended at a stoppage?
Good numbers among some very talented footballers. Also regarding assists, a score assist is defined by CD as either the immediate disposal, knock-on, ground kick or hitout prior to the score. They are not to be confused with score involvements is defined as any of the former in a chain to a score.
Here are the top 5 score assist players over the past five seasons (2018 onwards)...

Some pretty nice company for Macrae.
Ah yes, Jackson Macrae isn’t as good as one of the best players of all time - therefore, he is overrated.Good numbers among some very talented footballers.
But of those 5.....Macrae's role is the easiest of the group.
Take Martin for example - This is a contested and outside player that can kick goals as a mid and play as an actual forward. He deals with opposition attention in form of a tag and is rarely by himself at stoppages...and it goes without saying that he has a defender on him when playing forward.
So this is a player that not only contributes in a multitude of ways for his team (including the stats you've shown) but does it whilst getting the attention of the opposition.
Macrae doesn't get tagged, and at times is left unattended at stoppages.
What Martin does and has to deal with is a lot harder of job than what Macrae does. And the same can be said for those other players in that stats box.
It is what it is.
You're missing the point.Ah yes, Jackson Macrae isn’t as good as one of the best players of all time - therefore, he is overrated.

I so often hear how overrated Macrae, Neale, Mitchell etc are and they always go back to a similar comment.
'Give me 20 Bont touches over 35 Macrae touches'
'Give me 20 Dusty touches over 35 Mitchell touches'
How many footy fans rate Macrae over Bont?
How many rate Mitchell over Dusty?
How many rate Neale over Petracca?
I would suggest very very few, so where does the overrated tag come from on these guys? They all seem to be pretty accurately rated to me.

I do.
Just so you realise, Clangers are kicks that go straight to the opposition.
Don't even think that's the issue. People say that 20-25 touches from Bont, Petracca and Dusty are more effective when especially nowadays that isn't true. The reason Macrae, Titch are so good is because of their ability to win the footy, taking that away just to make a point is pointless. They're dangerous and as damaging but do it in different ways, usually over 4 quarters rather than bursts. Now this is not directed at you because you haven't done it but i will use that last sentence to highlight a gripe i have with a lot of footy fans at the moment.

If you'd read after that you'd realise i got it wrongIncorrect, a clanger is a bunch of different categories. Direct turnovers, frees against, 50m penalties against.
Corey Enright is probably still underrated. People forget how much of a ****ing gun he was. He's like Corey Enright , called under rated that much he actually becomes over rated haha
If you'd read after that you'd realise i got it wrong
But it was alot of his clangers, he had 12 and half were by boot, frees against were about 5.
50m arent tho pre sure.
Can you not see Bontempelli next to Cripps? Looks like they were willing to leave Macrae unmanned in order to double team BontBecause, it's a structure.
It's kinda like a sweeper.
Every team does it and it's not because the oppo doesn't rate them, in the first bounce, the two "alone" were the two best players on the night. Macrae and Cripps.
I think it's bad because it adds onto the freekicks. He had 5 direct turnovers, whether by hand or foot you'd have to go back and rewatch the game. Not sure why we're fixating on five direct turnovers out of 32 disposals, that seems pretty good in my books.
No, Cripps was left unattended because Walsh moved around to get Bont. If you watched it.Can you not see Bontempelli next to Cripps? Looks like they were willing to leave Macrae unmanned in order to double team Bont
You still can't get it right. If you'd read after that you'd realise i got it wrong

“About”.You still can't get it right.
He had 7 frees against, not ''5''.
So he's had 5 disposal errors. Errors that could include handballs out of congestion that missed their target. When you're the no.1 contested possession player in the game you're working in the coalface and it's going to happen.
5 clangers through pure disposal error isn’t good. It’s pretty shocking. You still can't get it right.
