I can't picture Killer Cahill sitting on the board twiddling his thumbs while the Port Adelaide club that he grew up with is being evaporated right before his eyes.

He will be the one driving the need for change and I would be dumbfounded if he has not contacted Clarkson himself.

Yup, agree.

and if Ken stays next year watch him depart the board.

Ever noticed how fans and members are completely out of the picture — except to be painted as disrespectful morons?

It’s all about what Hinkley might want, or what Hinkley deserves, or what Hinkley has done, or Hinkley’s future.

F#%k us though, our responsibility is just to keep bankrolling this farce.
And when 12,000 fans turn up to the first home game next year, the media will turn on us faster than you can say, "Hinkley is a fraud."

"How fickle are Port fans", they'll cry.

If we take out the 360 ********* who get wristys from Ken, the majority of the noise is Ken isn't safe....that's what I'm holding onto.

Here is another perspective.

Earlier on in the year a very good friend of mine was lucky enough to bump into 'someone' (I can't name names), who was very educated on the contract Ken Hinkley had signed with the club. Have I seen it myself? No. Do I believe these people? Yes.

This included a clause that if Hinkley did not make the finals the the contract could be terminated before the 2023 season.

Having a look at the timeline of our season, and the tone set by Koch it adds up.

Kochie was backing in Ken to coach in 2023 just 1-2 months ago as we were on a roll destined to make finals.

What I believe may have happened.. We bombed out, losing the last 5/6 games and making finals mathematically was lost losing to the Tigers.

What then followed was Koch immediately putting Ken on notice.

Might seem far fetched for some of you, but makes perfect sense to me. He's gone.

Nah, more likely the contract contained the clause reported at the time:
That he make finals in 2021 OR 2022.

If you're Dixon or Jonas, you're in full self preservation mode hoping Ken stays. That $400-500k salary with no clear post football career is a safety net you can't afford to lose. They don't want to leave Port, they see Sutcliffe or Lobbe and hope they can transition to an assistant or line coach.

Koch wants to feed his ego, and is using Port as his own personal play thing. Its a brag to his Sydney business mates that he's the president. Its not defined by how many premierships he helps deliver.

Ken is the guy who won the lottery in the AFL system. Zero on-field success, limited technical nous for winning games that matter, but being popular in the media and manipulating the playing group that they lost because they didn't work hard enough.

Then there's us, no financial dependency on Port, we just love the club and tell it straight what's going on. Its we who grew up loving Port, the prison bars, tough strong teams with brilliant coaches who bred success. Its us who lose out in all of this crap. We want our club back and the frauds and opportunists to leave.

I am liking your post because I want to believe this. Makes perfect sense to me.

Yeah, I've heard too much about this no finals clause being a real thing. Caroline Wilson probably wouldn't know one way or another and is probably being fed lies by Hinkley's manager like everyone else in the industry. That would seriously be all she had to go on.
Koch and the board need to weather this storm, as it is no more than Hinkley and his manager calling in favours from all their mates to create a narrative of shooting Bambi if you have the gall to get rid of this man.

If what you are saying there is true about the performance clause then you're right he's gone however there are plenty of journalists out there saying that there is no clause and the AFL have said there is no clause. As for why they would be commenting I have no idea but being in a backwater you could imagine someone in Melbourne tipping off a journalist buddy.

Instead our board comprises of people, such as Holly Ransom who don't even support Port Adelaide.

I know I should be used to it by now but I am still absolutely shocked at the level of protection, defense and false narrative around Ken by the media.

It is just crazy.

It can all only be coming from one source, particularly the so-called details of his contract. The AFL nor the club are at liberty to disclose such details to members of the media.

Victorian media want Ken at Port because they know while he is here we are not a premiership threat in the same way as long as they keep bringing up the camp the Cows can't move forward.

Of course he would have. He’s been told he’s being rolled out to talk up the coach and told what to say.

What do we expect Connor to say ? “Yea, Kens lost the playing group, number of the boys can’t stand him and we want him sacked”
Sam Hayes won't say anything publicly, but I wonder what he really thinks of Ken.

Caroline Wilson has said that the AFL signs off on these clauses and her understanding is no clause exists in Colonel Stinkley's contract. Now that might be all bullshit and this is the issue. Does the clause exist or not because if it does and Klinkley coaches us next year then its SACK KOCH.

The thing that concerns me is that for everyone on here that wants Hinkley gone there are still many on FB, Instagram etc. that are willing to back him in.
In the scheme of things BigFooty is a small albeit vocal forum, somehow I think the club are more likely to use mainstream social media as their basis/justification to keep him on.
Sure there are more negative comments than previously seen but it is by no means overwhelming.
We have a lot of “supporters” that seem to be content with us being “competitive” and happy that we have a “good bloke” in charge.
I’m honestly not expecting much to change.

I have not met a single Port supporter in real life who doesn't want Hinkley sacked. Most of the pro-Hinkley Facebook crowd are probably AI bots. Facebook is never a reliable place to get an accurate read on things.

Yeah I agree Finbarr I have thought that most pro-Hinkley comments on Facebook are actually coming from Crows supporters.

I don't think the club has made a decision either way, at least not to get rid of him. There's no way something wouldn't have leaked by now if they'd already told him he's gone. I think it's important to keep the pressure on the club, especially at the moment where it seems like we're as close as we've ever been to ridding the club of that charlatan.
