When you have a football dept outraged at what the president has said when it's not even controversial and upset at being held to any standards at all then that's a massive red flag to go in and blow up what has become a disconnected clique. Any administrator worth their salt at the reaction this week would detonate the place to bring it back into line with the rest of the club.

Agree with everything said here. Found myself giving less and less of a shit over the last few years and Dixon's comments were probably the final straw.

Saturday night was the first home game I've voluntarily missed (probably in our entire AFL history) and I didn't regret it for one second.

Why sit there trying to support a bunch of scrubs you have absolutely zero respect for or connection to?

Hopefully it's not too late and the emotional connection isn't gone for good once old mate decides he's finally taken enough money from the members.

Short of a flag, he is not getting another extension with us.
Yeh we also said if he doesn't make finals this year he won't be coaching in 2023....it wouldn't surprise me if he gets an extension....the club is rooted. No more fukcs given.

Correct. Verified through multiple sources as far as 12 months ago that CD didn't rate Hinkley and if it had been up to him (it isn't), Hinkley would have left the club quite some time ago.

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw last night's report.
Yet gets into greyhounds with ken [emoji848]

A lot of people will be pleasantly surprised when they discover the happiness they get from investing their time and energies into pursuits they have control over and make them physically and mentally better people, rather than investing that time and energy (and money) into a bunch of over paid charlatans who are deified for kicking a piece of leather full of air around an oval.

I've just splashed out on a new boat. Looks like I'll have an extra grand to spend on fishing gear.

So come on C4 give us something-
I wouldn't be fooled by the tough talk that comes out from Kochie every year around the same time.

1. The Board value stability above all else - given the clubs position; they don't want to have to risk the highs and lows of an unknown quantity.
2. The Board don't want to be seen as pandering to what they claim to be a vocal minority (whether they are out of touch with the general supporter base is another argument to be had)
3. Ken still has the support of the playing group
4. The ball is in Ken's court if he wants to call time.
5. They'll throw some of the assistants under the bus and classify that as change.

No not like that 😕

I mean honestly at this point all we can hope for now is that something happens that would stop Ken from coaching. Maybe a SAPOL raid and some lap tops are taken out of his house or something like that. It's literally the only way he won't be coaching this club next year.

If C4 is right about the board and the playing group, then the only questions for Ken are whether another year of supporter discontent is worth the undoubted toll it takes on him and his family and whether his longevity in the game is better protected by an honourable stepping down now or a non-renewal in 12 months.

If it transpires that batting on deprived us of Clarkson- I will never forgive Ken. But change for change’s sake when Clarkson (or Hardwick) is not an option, can’t be justified where it would truly alienate the playing group and threaten our financial stability.

If I were Ken, I would give the club my ok to speak to Clarkson. If he wants the job I would step aside. If not, I’d bat on if I believed we could make a GF in 2023 because only that saves him.

This is a crisis but it needs calm heads. People saying they will give up following Port or watching AFL all together if Hinkley stays are over emotional, unstable and hypocritical bed wetters who should be kept away from crisis decisions and their rantings ignored. If you care so much to use that hyperbole, the club obviously means a lot to you and your hyperbole is either disingenuous or biting your nose off to spite your face.

I want Hinkley to step down if that means Clarkson or Hardwick. But I was there almost every time the tarps were rolled out and next year I’ll be there come Hinkley or high water. I don’t really care about the bed wetters- them leaving will just make it easier to get grand final tickets which I hope to be collecting in 13 months whether Ken or someone else is coach.

I basically don't spend any money on the club anymore. Buy a basic interstate membership that costs $135. Haven't bought merch for years. Have no desire to travel to Adelaide for games and go have a meal at the club, etc, anymore. This board couldn't even get enough interest to sponsor a player for the first time ever. Speaks volumes.

You love and follow your football club because you feel a part of it. You feel like it embodies things that you hold dear to you. The moment it ceases to be that entity it very much becomes a "what's the point?" proposition. It's been a fairly slow creep towards this but I think it's reached that point with me now. Only a big, ballsy move now can drag it back from the pits of hell.

It's fine for the club to want stability (I assume most clubs want that), but what our club admin fail to understand is that when a club is perenially mediocre, people eventually get bored and switch off from the club. They go do something else. That's money walking out of the door. If that happens enough, we'll be in financial dire straits, and there goes your stability. The on field results are our core business, so they do matter.

Yikes. That post from C4 is pretty gutting to read. It's going to get very interesting from here on in.

If they need a financial crisis to force change, I guess we need to give them one.

I can't personally give up my memberships because my seats are too good and I'll never get them back, but if I had basically any other membership I'd be gone.

I'll be actively advocating for people to not attend games in protest. "Dont attend round 1" type events on facebook. We'll see if we can get any traction on an in person protest at Alberton.

Disagree completely. How long do we have to fork over thousands of dollars by an administration actively thumbing it's nose at us before we take action?

I don't just want to follow a club that calls itself Port Adelaide. I want to follow the Port Adelaide Football Club, and if the club refuses to behave in the right way, it's our duty as supporters to drag them kicking and screaming back to where the club belongs.

If we had any other lever to pull, we'd be doing so. If revenue is the only thing these people understand, then we hit them there.

The last 20 pages are extremely grim. It's like reading some emotional breakup conversations. Genuinely awful.

Lads and Lady's, I think football is not our thing anymore. It's changed and we haven't. issues with the game are far reaching. It's not just Ken and it's not just Port. The very reason Port are the way they are is because of the game itsellf.

Marie Kondo that shit. Does it bring you joy? If not, get rid of it.

My Dad's ashes were scattered at Alberton in 2010. He died in 1998. The club died with him.

That’s actually called corporate governance. Without the business, there is no club.

But you have to see that over the long term, mediocrity breeds apathy which kills the business anyway.

Football clubs sell hope. Port Adelaide can't possibly sell hope at this point. They're purely relying on people to keep their memberships out of obligation. Not a very stable way to run.
