Guys will need a restful week leading into this one after 3 finals like games over the last 3 weeks, glad it's a 7 day break. We can now sit back all contented and barrack for our preferred winner of Pies v Swans and Blues v Demons... we will be in the top 4 heading into Friday night so our fate is in our hands.

Ins- Callum Ah Chee, Marcus Adams.

Outs- Jack Payne, Jaxon Prior.

Out McStay.

Agree with potential changes: Adams & Ah Chee for Payne & Prior.

5 day break down in Melbourne vs 7 days at the GABBA.

We'll be up for this.

Out McStay.
I thought all our 3 tall forwards were good in the first half tonight, McStay a good chop out for the big O as the relieving ruck as well, all 3 dropped off in the second half though, we couldn't buy a get out mark up the line. IMO the 5 day break and travel took a lot out of us.

McStay is not being dropped.

I thought Payne was very good tonight, he is the only one that can go out for Adams though.

Big game next week. If we can fix this issue of letting multiple goals through in quick succession, we can beat any team, anywhere.

Need our leaders to stand up. It starts with them.

Baring any injuries these would be the expected changes.

Also wouldn't surprise if someone pulls up sore and needs a rest. We've had two tough games against desperate teams in a row. Probably some very sore and tired bodies about now

I thought McStay was quite good in the first half but became invisible after half time. The ball didn't get in our forward line much though. Paine was good. Gardiner not as good with that brain fade kick and having too many goals kicked on him.

Prior looks comfortable at this level but Ah Chee must come back in.

One thing. Does Froggy have a game to play on the weekend? When do the Twos play? If he came on for a few minutes can he play the two's game?

Lester needs to keep his form going as injuries will happen.

Reserves playing today in Melbourne at 11.05am, usually if the sub plays small minutes or is not used they play so expecting Froggy to play this morning. Live stream link >

I’m going to put this out there, we need to win this game. If we do, we will go deep in the finals but if we don’t, we’ll go out in straight sets. This team needs to prove to itself it can win these huge matches and this one is as big as it gets pre-finals. Top 2/4 likely depends on it. This is really a key moment for what this side will go on to achieve or not.

If we lose we in all probability finish 6th so it would be out in a sudden death single set.:(

Yeah we just need to fix the problem of letting our opposition kick more goals than us. Do that and we should win

I too thought he was good and he only got to spend 72% TOG compared to Gardiners 95%. I have been saying for many weeks that Payne could perform Gardiners role while developing in the 1's and last night has not changed my opinion.
Prior was also solid and I believe plays much better in the 1's than the 2's. I liked some of the things he done and I feel a little disappointed for both the boys that unfortunately it appears they will be dropped..'again'.

Interestingly Bailey one of our more dangerous players only got to spend 72% TOG maybe a strategy after the 5 day break.

I know most people have come around to believing matho deserves his place, but the hurdle for done is disposal efficiency.

I understand that a kick to a one on one contest is an effective disposal, bit still. Ast night's stats attached.

I unfortunately have 0 confidence in this game and kind of want to put serious money on Melbourne @ $2.
I like the occasional flutter (have to watch my $ now at my age), and whilst Lions are extremely difficult to beat at the GABBA, if Melbourne bring their A game $2 is very attractive odds in a 'two horse race' Melbourne's weakness is currently the lack of in form tall forwards, otherwise they are very strong.

I know IF, but if King had of kicked three of those five relatively easy (by AFL Forward standards) goals arguably we get beat. That said, the whole game changes as a goal means a centre start as opposed to a behind and a kick out of defence etc.

Been saying for months Cam should play mostly forward and deep forward (next year with no McStay), with occasional passages in the midfield. Hippy can play more upfield performing the linking forward type role now done by McStay. Good to see Cam go well last night and he contributed strongly to a much closer score line than I anticipated.

Playing at Sandringham oval today I would have thought.
