This a bombers board not renowned for good decision making skills.

Essendon were broadly projected to finish bottom 4 last year and expected to endure long term pain as they were in the middle of a rebuild. Rutten got a young list to a finals series in his first season. They overachieved and couldn't back it up, this is not uncommon. To make a call to sack Rutten now looks incredibly hasty and shortsighted. It's fascinating that the collective football world has decided that you need four centuries to work out if a coach is sh*t or not.
In this world, there are only Damian Hardwicks who will deliver premierships given enough time and no Mark Neelds. Somehow Truck is some innocent bystander who has nothing to do with how poor Essendon are.
Essendon's list may not be perfect but it's stocked full of early draft picks and there is plenty of talent there. There is no excuse for how rubbish they have been this year.
Clubs just sometimes need to cut their losses early and not throw good money after bad just hoping the guy will turn it around.
Essendon are more likely to reappoint Hird than do what you have outlined. My post got deleted for trolling, when I was serious. Is it not a fair point that this tumult is part of the legacy of drugs saga - a club doesn't recover from a crisis like that quickly? Like the infamous post-season camp taken by the Crows. It leaves scars.
The board, the administration and many of the fans did not fully reckon with and take responsibility for the doping scandal. Many still believe that nothing was awry and they were in fact victims. Not all, but many.
That needs to be dealt with, acknowledged, accepted, and owned, before the club can truely move forward.
I'm a management consultant who specialises in organisational culture from a board level down, if this is trolling then I guess my 40 year career has also been trolling, thank you moderators.
Will this increased chaos finally lead to stability? IMO, not without some self-reflection from the senior leaders who were around and therefore party-to the aforementioned disaster whose stench still fills the halls of Avalon.
I would say it got leaked to the media early . Otherwise why the **** wouldn’t you wait one week til the season ends extremely unprofessional either wayEssendon's list may be slightly better but the club is a mess, at least North made a decision on the coach earlier, who sacks a coach with one round to go?
I'd be surprised if the Bombers board can walk and chew gum at the same time.As if the Bomber board/org would have kept it secret for months that they actually had Clarko but were secretly letting him meet with GWS and North on multiple occasions just as cover for when they sacked Rutten (which there's no proof they actually have yet) today.
LOL.
Dodo is like Castro seeing off US presidents
Clarkson was likely to sign with North this weekI would say it got leaked to the media early . Otherwise why the * wouldn’t you wait one week til the season ends extremely unprofessional either way
Would actually feel bad for North fans if Clarko went to Essendon and JHF walked.
Dan Richardson was a big part of building the Tigers premiership list, but Adrian has already seen him off. That's poor from Essendon if true, he helped built the Dees premiership team together.
Makes you wonder what kind of dirt Dodoro has on the power brokers at Essendon if he survives this cull
This is true and OBrien and Dow were both top 10 picks for us that are useless. They have lots of average 1st rounders just because they were picked high doesn't mean they're any good now

Even if they have clarko signed then you still wait a week to announce itClarkson was likely to sign with North this week
I'd be surprised if the Bombers board can walk and chew gum at the same time.

They're all reporting it and pointing at him while they do it.Has any media run with the sacking apart from Neil Mitchell?
McGrath and Walsh were taken at the same pick yet comparing them is laughable this stigma around where you were picked compared to their output is a real issueThis is true and OBrien and Dow were both top 10 picks for us that are useless.![]()
Their small irrelevant football club would be torn apart.Would actually feel bad for North fans if Clarko went to Essendon and JHF walked.
So you would take Essendon's list over Collingwood's right now?Craig McRae has managed to get respectable football out of a list which was found in a dumpster behind an abandoned potato farm.
There is plenty to work with at Essendon for a good coach.
