Berg was always a game away from being back in the 2s whereas Murphy is more a mainstay that generally keeps getting selected regardless of output.
To be fair, if Murphy kept pumping out the same output as he has been the past month in his current role, his play is definitely good enough for AFL

we make this mistake over and over. We've played 2 of the worst 22s assembled over the last 2 decades in that patch. Murphy is bog average and having a day out against 2 rabbles will not extropolate out to him being a regular contributor at the level. But we're stuck with him, love his hustle.

murphy and keays..

both terrible players that give their all and every now and then have a bit of a day out which remarkably results in them getting another long stretch of games in which to be shit in!..

Keays was brilliant against Carlton.. then straight back to his below average self for the next two weeks.

and why the **** did they throw him back in the middle again?..

I’m not saying he’s the answer to all our problems, far from it. All I’m saying is that if we get the kind of production we’ve seen from Murphy or Ned over the last month from our 7th forward, now and in the future, we’ll be in a solid place

If we find someone more consistently capable of producing those numbers, then that’s even better

You have to wonder. I guess they don't want anyone being really good there that they then have to justify why they're carrying a poor performing Sloane. By the time 2023 round 1 rolls around we'll forget that Keays looked good there and the apologists will be able to say, "well, who else is proven to play there as good as Sloane is now".

Should trade keays. Him and laird cannot play in the same midfield.

And a nice bottle of red as well?
Talking of Reds, a fellow poster on this board brought around a 2004 Leabrook Estate 3 regions Shiraz to have with my marinated lamb roast.

Great company & great food & wine. :)

McAdam has had an excellent year, one of our most consistent players and he offered a lot both at ground, aerially & ability to get out on a genuine lead. I'd only be trading if it were for a very decent return & even then I'd need to weight it up.
Is it possible he is the best 22 player used as part of a potential North Melbourne deal?

P.s. assuming the club know that Rankine is a lock

Hmmm - young player, interstate, home sick, not playing all the games he should in his first few years. have a heart and let him go home for a bag of chips...we are talking about Rankine right?
No....
That was Charlie Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield.

He's priced them out of that market.
Thats a good point..

If he carries this current form 3 to 4 goals a game into next season and improves on it with a Burgess fitness level lift..

He could haave an 60-80 goal season..

In his contract year..

Hope we’re saving some cap space!

Having watched almost all the forwards in the AFL every week because of my punting, Fogarty (and Marshall) are just so deadly with their accuracy. Its such a weapon, that Fog only needs 4 shots at goal to kick 3 goals at least.

Compare that to 0.5 King last Friday night, that killed the Saints Final 8 chances.

Wait till fog is getting 7-8 shots a game.

In an indoor stadium no less in perfect conditions with no wind etc and and yet in Adelaide he goes ahead and kicks 6.0 no problems, outdoors at night. FMD!

I know this is your hobby horse and you are always popping up with this shit, but it is absolutely ridiculous to call Keays a 'terrible' player. He got Brownlow votes in 6 games last year in a bottom 4 side and came second in our B&F. He's miles above average, a good footballer with some real strengths who also has some weaknesses. Massively exaggerating those weaknesses and their importance doesn't make you an astute judge of the game.

He’s garbage. The time to recognise it is well past..

He started the year off garbage in the preseason and first couple of rounds.. then he had a patch of about 4 or 5 half decent games… followed by about 8-10 weeks of shite.

He’s not a midfielder. He’s too erratic, too poorly skilled and a bad decision maker on most occassions with ball in hand.

Then up comes the Carlton game and, as a few in here had been saying shouldve happened all year, they placed him at half forward and he played a blinder.. and everyone, including myself, cheered him for it and said “LEAVE HIM THERE PERMENANTLY!.. and keep him away from our midfield where he just seems to ruin our setup there.

So what do they do?.. they flipping put him back in there and he returns to his garbage self and our midfield looks shit again (see the first half on the weekend when he was back in the middle)

I dont give a fk if a few here disagree but the facts are there for all to see..

And they would see them if they simply put their love for him, due to his unrelenting effort and never give in attitude, aside and actually accept that he’s a very limited footballer.

Traits of Poor skills, poor decision making, erratic and unpredictable play far outweigh the traits of effort and never give up.. this will always be the case at the top level.

How do you reckon Benny would go in Richmond's set up?
