Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

After 10 pages, and I am sure this has already been mentioned, here's the hot tip.

If it's against Freo you are a chance to play at Kardinia Park, which is the right of the home final winning team in week one.

If it's against Collingwood, where you can sell out the MCG then it gets a little more complex for the AFL. They know they can sell 36k at KP and they know they can sell 90k at the MCG. That one you can argue I guess.

But you cannot argue it when KP is only 20k people due to constructions. No brainer this is at the MCG.

Don’t need to. I did the calcs, it gives you 2-3 extra wins a season. It is undeniable, cope.

You need to be more familiar with the MCG cause your team shits the bed every year and will again this year probably against us again.

Ah yes - the 'calcs'. The 'calcs' that depended on Geelong's playing ability being the same as the average of 5-6 unrelated teams (for some unexplained reason).

Yes, those 'calcs'. Quality stuff. Kudos.

Do my calculations until 2021 and you’ll be shocked at what you robbed.

I’ve done them.

For the people in this thread that aren’t aware because they got sick of reading your dribble:

In each of the last 8 home and away seasons in which Geelong have made the top 4 (that doesn’t include a 9th where the games were played at neutral venues), Geelong had a win percentage AWAY from Kardinia Park that was among the four best away records in the competition. Extrapolated out over 22 games, if EVERY team played 22 away games, we were in the top 4 each season without fail.

In 4 of those seasons if you only look at our away percentage but allow the other 17 teams to keep both their home and away records we STILL make the top 4, and in another season we tie for fourth.

Thus to anyone who understand hypotheses and percentages and basic analytics, Geelong’s dependence on its home ground is lower than, in all those years, at least 14 other sides.

We don’t need to hear it again, especially in a thread that’s not even about that.

Let it go.

Pies have to play 14 games at the G (contract) and 2 home games at Mrvel (contract). That’s why you don’t come down
Again, take that up with the AFL. I'm all for equalling things up and would love to see us play at KP, but it's unreasonable to go and play there when we haven't been allowed to play there.

The result doesn't matter, what matters is integrity. Home finals played at home team's venue of choice.

Home finals isn’t a thing. Country leagues have never done it . It’s just a thing for interstate clubs. You finish higher just means you don’t travel interstate. Freo and West Coast don’t pick a venue of their choice . They play at Optus . Bulldogs can’t choose Ballarat.

Bulldogs and Saints can't even chose Marvel, can they?

Country leagues don’t do it?

Not sure how it works in Victoria but across all codes that’s how it happens in country NSW

14/18 clubs just happen to play all (or most)) of their home games at their finals venue of choice. Neutrality has gone out the window

At the time the ground upgrade commenced, the dimensions were not a problem for anyone. (Just as different dimensions of Waverly, Princes Park, etc were not a problem)

Those tantrums only started years later.
gees how long have these works been going on?? maybe you need better contractors!

Nah, country leagues in Victoria have predetermined venues, the bigger leagues try to have everyone play at two grounds close to each other early on so if you had a kid who played under 15s at one ground and one in under 17s at the other then you only need to drive 20ks or so instead of an hour or two.

They do that here for lower grades but it’s all determined by who gets hosting rights in the top grade based on ladder position

I just hate how narrow it is. I agree in principle that the home side should be able to play at home, and that to be made to play your home game at the oppositions home ground is bullshit. But the ground is just awful for watching footy, and it should be made wider to be more like other grounds
i already pointed that out! same as the SCG!

I hardly think it's a disadvantage for Geelong to play at the MCG - they've played 9 games at GMHBA and 5-6 at the MCG this year, two of which were home games against Essendon and Richmond. The MCG is also Geelong's home ground,

Geelong get to place witches hats to reduce the width of the ground by 30m on each side so their zone still works and their old legs can cope.
Not sure it's fair on Essendon players to have to stand on the ground for the whole game when their season is over...
