Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

Yes and you sarcastically said that it’s a unanimous sentiment outside of Geelong - which I would assume means you think the opposite: that outside of Geelong, people unanimously think the dimensions there are no good for footy.

My point being that I had never heard anyone say a thing about our dimensions until maybe 6-7 years ago
Or, more obviously, that there is no consensus amongst football opinions about the ideal ground.

I've literally never heard anyone besides this one Geelong poster say it is the 'ideal field' or whatever.

It’s amazing how Geelong fans post in Geelong threads.

Tell me how many Tigers ones I’ve posted in 😂😂
You're taking Chewy far too seriously. Should be skipped over.
Like this thread. We're under construction..

a) you don't get it
b) the MCG dimensions are better than those in Geelong

But geelongs stadium has better dimensions for football then the mcg. Its the mcg that should change. Its too circular and too short which results in too much boring circle work.

ps. The fact the grounds are different dimensions is just another reason why this game should be in geelong.

geelong earned the right to have the ground dimension and crowd advantages. Not collingwood.

this would not happen in europe or the states. we all know it wouldnt.
why do we accept it in the afl? I will say why. Cos it only really disadvantages geelong (and eventually gold coast if they ever make a final). So the majority simply dont care cos they only benefit from it.

A few years ago sydney rightfully claimed it unfair when they had to go play their home final against gws at homebush. Which was only 25 minutes away. Ironically most melbourne supporters supported their plight.

but when it comes to geelong and finals its massive cognitive dissonance.

it needs to be called out. This needs to stop.
As I was reading this I couldn’t stop imagining it being spoken aloud by the ‘Why won’t you just leave Britney alone?’ meme guy

??
Finals are clean games.

Geelong social club or reserved seat members wont get normal positions.

Club members split tickets.

AFL members get an allocation, and Collingwood has more of these than anyother club by a mile.

So at a 25k or 40k Cat Park, using finals ticketing arrangements the Pies will have larger share of the crowd.

Finals are AFL events. They even sell AFL finals series tickets to multiple games in Melbourne at the G.

It seems understanding current laws of the game and finals ticketing arrangements aint your strong point.
Lol, you're talking shit. The AFL members will have far more non-Collingwood supporters than Collingwood supporters.

The number who actually get a ticket to the game will be a totally random distribution. You just hope it will be all Collingwood, but for all you know they will be all Carlton supporters.

Like I said, not so good at maths, huh?

For all intents and purposes, Geelong is an outer suburb of Melbourne. The distance from the CBD to Geelong is similar to many other outer suburbs.

Geelong to Melbourne CBD: 73.4 km
Pakenham to Melbourne CBD: 62.2km
Mornington to Melbourne CBD: 71.6km
Wallan to Melbourne CBD: 62.0km
Bacchus Marsh to Melbourne CBD: 56.7km

The Geelong F.C. are lucky to have a political arrangement in place where the Victorian Government funds its own stadium. However, all finals played in Victoria belong at the MCG. Finals are not home games, they are neutral games hosted by the AFL.
For all intents and purposes Victoria is just part of Greater Western Sydney.

That's why Gladys and Scomo told you when to open up.

100% correct.

Extra space on the wings is for list cloggers who can't kick towards goal.

Wow. I didn't realise that Pakenham, Mornington, Wallan and Bacchus Marsh all had their own AFL team, with a local community of 250k+ that supported them. Those are great comparisons and totally convince me! I can't believe I forgot that all our supporters live between KP and the MCG.......none whatsoever that live maybe further away from Melbourne.

Yep and the grand final should be at the higher place home ground, not at the MCG every year. Despite finishing higher than Collingwood and despite even beating them in the first final we had to play the 2018 grand final at their home ground. I wish we had a fairer comp but it is what it is and I hope it changes one day.
The GF is too big an event to be organised the week before.

My proposal is that it should be on a rotating basis.

Odd Years: MCG (ie 2023, 2025, 2027 and so on)
Even Years: Homebush, Optus, GABBA, Adelaide Oval (each venue hosts the GF once every 8 years on a fixed timetable). Venues can swap dates if they have rennovations/building works planned.

So Grand Finals are in line with the breakdown of each state's number of clubs relative to the competition (ie SA has 11% of the comptition's clubs and hosts 12.5% of GFs, VIC has 55% of the clubs and hosts 50% of the GFs)

Finals Week 1+2 are at the home venue of choice (KP, Marvel, Spotless, Metricon included)

Prelim Finals are at the biggest venue in the state (so NSW uses Homebush, Vic uses MCG for all games, QLD uses the GABBA).

Collingwood have the most AFL members, from every game that I attend which is most, the AFL members is littered with Collingwood fans, will be no different on Saturday.

In a fair and ideal world this game should be held at KP but in typical AFL fashion they put revenue before fairness.

Having said that, im glad the AFL are corrupt on this matter and cant hep but say suck shit to Geelong, the melts when Collingwood send you the long way 'round and head on into a Prelim against Melbourne also at the G will be delicious.

You clearly don't know how ticketing in the finals works either.

That only happens at the MCG. They get no extra tickets at any other ground.

And even at the MCG, only in the grand final do AFL members of competing teams get priority.

That's why you need to steal the home final.

At GHMBA stadium, tickets would be evenly divided between club members, and GHMBA members. Collingwood would not have more tickets through AFL membership.

It's a scam. But if that's what your club needs to do to remain relevant, go for it. Such a big club, so many supporters and they still need to lean on Sleepy Hollow 🤭

Yeah, its a bit like how you have to wear that lovely teal colour and call yourself the "Power" and have that shitty team song, hey?

Been an AFL member for 22 years,

Pretty sure I know how it works. AFL Members of any type can go to a QF, but if I was at a guess all Collingwood and Geelong AFL members would of been the ones in the ticketek queue, yes granted there will be AFL members from other teams in there obviously who just want to watch a game but you are seriously delusional if you don’t think the AFL members section at the MCG is going to packed to the rafters with Collingwood fans.

Good on you, champ. You know how it works at the MCG.

But maybe you should read the whole thread and realise the OP said the Pies would have more supporters if it was played at GHMBA.

Arrogance and hubris are strong with you numpties.

Yes, we all have our cross to bear.
Won't stop your club trying to benefit from their supporter base merchandising at the next showdown.

Won't stop Collingwood preventing you from making a profit from that merchandising, just because they have so many precious members.

I'm actually all for you retaining a connection to your history and culture, and giving your long term fans a chance to wear the traditional colours in a game that has zero impact on Collingwood. Just pointing out that the AFL is really still the Melbourne FL.

2017 GF should have been played at Adelaide Oval and the Crows no doubt would have been premiers. Then they never would have gone on that infamous camp. The AFL is far from perfect.

The MCG and Victorian Government have an iron clad contract to host the AFL Grand Final each year until 2059. This contract is worth upwards of $500 million. How do you propose to reimburse or compensate those parties if the contract is broken?
