swans finish third (equal second) and not one player worth a spot in espn's AA team ...
That pretty much sums up ESPN's understanding of football in NSW. Have you looked at their phantom draft yet? Hilarious. It was so bad I don't think I even posted on in our Draft thread.

Mate they put Petracca at Half Forward, I'd take Heeney in that position 100 times in a row over Tracc
I would too. Like I said, I think Heeney is the best in the comp in his position. But it's not like they snubbed him completely, so meh. The AA team in general is a joke IMO.

The thing is, in 5 years who will remember Miller and Mills were named on the wing, Heeney was named on the bench and the ****ing Coleman medal winner named in the pocket? No one. You'll remember that they were selected in the side

Interesting to note that every coach has appeared on 360 (some numerous times) but Longmire - Zip.
Taking that further, he has been on SEN breakfast a number of occasions. But, guess how many times he has appeared on Whately this year? You guessed it - None, zero, zip.
Fair to say that there's some bad blood between the two of them.
Long,it’s has been on 360 a few times this season already.

If I'm being totally honest, I don't know if we deserved one. We haven't had a single stand-out player all year - Mills probably the closest, and Heeney in terms of being the best in the comp in his position (and both were named in the actual team anyway, so there's that.)

I feel like we're such an even team across the field that we aren't reliant on one player to dominate. Our best players could look different on any given week and I think that's our strength. I'd rather have that and win a flag than have a bunch of players winning individual accolades in a team not functioning all that great.
A champion team rather that a team of champions.

Thanks for the correction.

There is something about Leon Cameron on another thread.
The Age reckons we're talking with him about the Academy position which is apparently vacant.
Others will know more for sure.

The Sydney Swans are keen to speak to former Giants’ coach Leon Cameron about a potential role in 2023 that could see him involved in the club’s successful academy program.

The program’s head coaching position became vacant earlier this season when club stalwart Jared Crouch departed the role to spend more time with family and support his wife’s career.
After the recent departure of the program’s head Chris Smith the club decided to embark on a review of the academy to ensure it had a strategy consistent with the ongoing changes in the football environment including the entry of a Swans AFLW team.
Cameron has remained in Sydney with his children at school....

The club put out a press release when Crouch left, but I'd don't recall anything about Chris Smith leaving and curiously his linkedin profile still lists him as 'General Manager - QBE Sydney Swans Academy'. He's been at the Swans for over 13 years, so a quiet exit if he has in fact left.

Our current senior group of coaches seem to work well together and unless one chooses to move on, I'd be surprised if we rocked the boat to bring Cameron onboard, so he leading the landlubbers at the Academy would seem to make more sense.

EDIT; Chris Smith doesn't appear to be listed on the Swans website.

I feel exactly that about the current group of coaches (that they seem to have good synergy) and would have thought Smithy's job the only suitable one for Cameron.

I wonder how that would be structured.
I like how things are, though Horse has said many times that we are seriously stretched so I can see that an additional resource could be valuable.
I guess Leon has settled in Sydney.
Isn't there talk of the cap increasing? Surely that would allow us to take on someone extra...

Leon Cameron would bring a wealth of experience to the Academy , but is he holding out for a senior coaching position?

Congratulations to Damian Barrett for achieving an incredible milestone this week, focusing on Buddy for a record 7th time in his Sliding Doors segment.

Fun fact, he's focused on Buddy in this segment more times (7) than he has all other Swans players (6).

Must be nice to be paid so much money to be so useless at your job.

We all love Buddy, but it is absolutely nauseauting to see how lazy Barrett can be in that column. Can't think of something interesting - oh I'll make some reference to Buddy instead.

To be fair to Barrett, we only came third and missed out on top two, so we mustn't have many good players to talk about!

Put it this way, if he is and looking for something in between senior gigs, we shouldn’t let him anywhere near our academy.
