Especially if we lose Sav. We need a decent and strong KPD. If not on afl list at lease a mature body vfl player? Or two!
A development player at either end.

Neale is going to be a player but we're still short down back if there's a couple of injuries.

I agree he can as well. And suspect the club will want to stick with him. Issue for him is how does he crack into regular games without specific injuries?
I think he can. He's got all the tools.

AFL were always going to block that Port request to use both a FR1 and FR2.

They wouldn't want to be seen helping to facilitate the move of a contracted 19 yo who has only been at North for 1-year.

It's a bad look and the fact he was pick 1 only 12-months ago probably makes it look worse.

The AFL will be hoping that JHF deal doesnt get done and he at least completes his contractual obligation of 2-years. It also doesn't help that North are a basket case and Port will be thereabouts around the 8 next year.

Hearing a lot of the same things from the Pie side. Apparently Mackie came in and offered massive unders and everyone was like 'who is this flog?'
My career has been doing deals (non football) for over 30 years. Good negotiators don’t get upset at the person on the other side

It is Human nature to be offended when you don’t get what you want. But In the end it is just a negotiation and you play the hands you got. If people get overly focussed on the other person being a “flog” it can distract from getting best outcome.

doesn’t mean Collingwood need to cave it. It is there choice as it is the cats. There is no independent fair arbitration - just a final offer and acceptance or not when needed.

That's pretty much my thoughts.

I know I keep harping on about it so forgive me, but I'm extremely confident that Cooper will become a star once he's had some continuity and played 50 or so games.

He's got a lot a tricks.

I hope you are correct.

I barely see him having any tricks with my eyes (maybe a good first sidestep like Bruhn seems to have).

Not much pace.
Looks an average kick.
Definitely not a goal kicker.
Haircut is very Dawsons Creek.

I feel he will need to become and absolute inside bull to be effective.

Certainly hope I'm wrong.
Plenty of people were telling me Constable was going to be good in the early days... I just saw a non-damaging player and was spot on.

Anyway... I'd love to be wrong on Stephens... It's certainly a big year for him coming up with stacks of opposition to push him.

Hard to see him being much more than depth for us next year. He’s better than that.
If he stays I think highly likely it ends like Higgins and Dal. Only reason it doesn’t is if cats midfielders go backwards or key injuries.

cats would be pleased to keep him but if he wants 2-3 years now is the time to explore. Given we haven’t heard anything I suspect that is not happening

This is true. Graham Wright just needs to focus on the strategic objectives. The flogness, or otherwise, of Mackie is just a distraction.

He's a pretty good user by foot for a start. He has great vision, can explode from a stoppage and lower the eyes and he has a decent side-step in traffic.

His only knock is he doesn't kick enough goals and he really can't play forward.

You are treading a fine line here friend. How do you think Id go on your board call your staff flogs?

Next time I have someone bring in a tray of yoyos and napkins , treat you all nicely with smiles and the right amount of benevolence..

... and then offer the deal we got for Krueger 41 for 55 type deal....

...but enjoy the yoyo's and the benevolence

Jeez Turbo. A bit sensitive.

Sure, I think the view itself is incorrect. But walking a fine line? I guess we do live in the nanny state.

Sounds to me a good blend if Mackie can be like that if we want to change expectations and if ..as most of us have thought at times... that Wells has a tendency to be to much like oil and warm butter. Having a Mackie to deal with changes us to a different look. Upsets expectations. Nice tag team. It reminds me of something in West Wing neg. debate agreements.

I'm all for getting Henry with #25 and I feel it's a very good chance to happen.

I honestly think that Henry has shown much more at top level than Bruhn though and we handed over #18 for Bruhn.

In my head... I just think we overpaid for Bruhn, but time will tell.

Henry has had some really good moments so far, whereas Bruhn has had minimal (really looked underwhelming).

FWIW - I hope Henry + Bruhn turn into future Geelong guns... or at least solid contributors... But #18 for Bruhn is a bit of a head scratch for mine.

I forgot that was an option ... but do you think we are about full of young inside mids that need time to develop?
If we get clark maybe.

But i honestly think clohesy has afl transferable traits and we have two free cat b spots and no one (as yet) to put them in so why not take him?

He's got a lot a tricks.
Where have you witnessed Coops tricks to be so confident? Is it AFL, VFL or prior to drafting?

I feel like I sound like a smart ass asking but I'm not meaning too, genuinely interested, I want him to be good but I just haven't seen it.

This is true. Graham Wright just needs to focus on the strategic objectives. The flogness, or otherwise, of Mackie is just a distraction.

And that objective is 25 is better than nothing (the alternative)and has value collingwood can use so they will take it.

Ed Allan

Midfielder, WA

Age: 26/05/04
Weight: 82kg
Height: 194cm
Club: Claremont/Mosman Park

2022 National Champs 81 rankings points, 13 disposals, 1 goal (one game)
2022 WAFL U18 126 ranking points, 25.4 disposals, 6.0 marks, 5.0 clearances

Allan, the son of Hawthorn and Fremantle player Ben, looms as a late bolter as an athletic midfielder with imposing size at 194cm. Unfortunately for Hawks fans, he misses out on father-son eligibility by just two games, with his father playing 98 matches for the brown and gold during the 90s. A stress fracture in his back kept Allan out for most of his draft year but he was able to find plenty of the footy in an inside midfield role for Claremont upon his return in the WAFL Colts, averaging 25.4 and five clearances in five matches. He also played one game for Western Australia at the national championships on a wing, showcasing his versatility as a midfielder. The running machine was Western Australia’s top performer in their 2km time trial earlier in the year and can boost his stocks further at the national combine
he'll want to "go home"
do not touch?
'

Wright is not being a flog, he is just doing his job and trying to get the best deal for his club. Like we wanted more last year for Clark who couldn't get a regular game, Henry is in the same development stage. The deal will get done and most likely both sets of fans won't be happy. Pies fans will call Mackie a flog and cats fans will call Wright a flog.

Im just wondering on how many spots for certain types. Id like to see some Combine numbers ...what is Clarks 2k time like and speed for that matter.

I agree.

But I'm hearing the rumour that Mackie treated them like dirt and Collingwood walked out. They were offered a lower pick and they said that wouldn't do, and Mackie basically said "tough luck" and Pies walked out. Then Wells was recalled to do some damage control evidently. They will be offered #25 and a bag of chips or something, but there's a good chance they won't take it. We apparently can only trade a future 1st rounder with special permission, and the AFL is being tough on that it seems after hearing they stopped the North-Port deal for Horne-Francis
Having knocked back port there is zero chance the afl says yes to us

I think the inference was that Mackie acted like a flog.. in being blunt and rude and being very un Wells like.

Haircut like Dawsons Creek had me in one
So accurate I'm crying
