I didnt mean boot the guy! But what Brasher said as a plan b when people are gone for too long, like their pick just keeps getting moved down until they appear.

As in, dspeed would know right now how many days it's taken thus far to get to end of round 9, and how days per pick we got left under our sleeve. So maybe a kind of time restriction could be implemented to ensure the full 16 rounds finishes in time.

So...if dspeed works out that there's about 5 days per pick left till end of August, then maybe there should be a 5 day 'on the clock' period just to ensure it moves along. The fall back plan being Brashers I reckon - your pick just keeps getting pushed down till you appear.

i am definitely not a fan of pushing down the pick, is unfair if there is a genuine excuse, time limit isnt that bad an idea, although if were to implement it i would want a clause put in where if someone pms me or posts that they know they will be offine for x number of days soon, then we just have to wait till they get back, for instance if i know i am going away in three days for a week and i know i won't have computer access, if i say this then i cant be penalised, it may also not have been practical to send a list of players as i still may have been 10 picks away, so i'll have a look at how long left and see what kind of time limit it might be

Ok cool. You made a good point about being 10 picks away. And the going away for a week not penalized. All fine.

But the 'time restriction' at least helps people keep aware of the time frame we're working under, just self-managing to ensure they're not rushing (no need to) and can take days away if need be, but always know roughly to work within a period per pick at least. ANd it helps others STFU complaining too or all carrying on about someone being gone for a few hours.

so far we have gone through 143 picks in 26 days, averaging a pick every 4 hours 20 minutes, which is a good pace, if we kept this up we would actually be done by approximately July 1!

we have 113 picks left, and an ideal deadline of August 31. That is 82 days away! That would mean a pick every 17 hours and 25 minutes, of course we get runs of picks though which quicken things up.

Things will speed up once Mizza makes his pick, but do keep us all updated roughly at the end of every round what the 'time per pick' status is at least.

Whatever executive decisions you feel are right to make, up to you. We won't disagree.

lol, did the other guys know what they were doing, benson and jones at 41 and 60 is unbelievable, without being able to see the other teams id say youd win easy, thats why i dont like these random leagues, much prefer a league like ours which is highly competitive, makes it harder

it is simply way too hard to organise 16 people to be online at the same time to do an online live draft

I don't buy this argument at all. I have run at least 2 leagues a year for the past 5 seasons on Yahoo, and I always run a live draft. My leagues are between 10-12 teams, and everyone always manages to show up and sacrifice 2 hours just to get their draft over and done with. I can't possibly see how adding 4 additional people to a league would prevent a live draft.

Well when it is all said and done it's just a fantasy draft and I hope Mizza is just getting lagered up in some pub somewhere.

However, to be an impartial draft this thing must finish before training camp to make it fair for all (different roster holes and pick order play a big factor).

Got the break of the draft via trade with g.g.(gratuitously generous??) and ended up with 2, 31, 34, 59 (up 4), 63 (up 3), 91 (up 4), 95 (up 3), 123 (up 4), 127 (up 3), 155 (up 4), 159 (up 3). Draft swaps normally involve giving something away in return for something else - dspeed only received and gave nothing. The NFL uses a system called the Trade Value Chart - I would suggest that g.g. needs to have a look at it before next years draft.

Selection Order RB, WR, WR, TE, QB, RB, RB, DST, WR

2. Steven Jackson RB
31. Chad Johnson WR
34. Torry Holt WR
59. Todd Heap
63. Vince Young QB
91. Deangelo Williams RB

Had the second pick in the draft, and with super stud LT gone, took the next best thing in Steven Jackson. Given his age, it looks like Jackson will be an integral part of the Destroyers offence for years to come.
At the botton of the second round didn't like the look of the remaining RBs, so took the WR route instead, picking up Chad Johnson and Torry Holt in the third.
In round 4 took the highly rated Todd Heap, RB may have been a better choice with Ahman Green, Jamal Lewis and Brandon Jackson available at the time. The decision did not come back to haunt dspeed (see 7th round pick)
Took QB Vince Young in 5th round, Young should more than make up for any lack in passing yards with his attack on the ground.
Took Deangelo Willimas in the 6th round and picked up one of the bargains of the draft in Brandon Jackson in the 7th. There are questions as to whether Green Bay will go with a 1-2 punch at running back this year, but I'm expecting Brandon to be the starter before the year is out.
Denvers defence in the 8th round is a solid pick and DJ Hackett in the 9th is another draft gem.
Overall a very solid draft from dspeed, got a break with g.g.s draft swap, and used them wisely.

Ok guys, is anyone worried about Mizza? Like maybe something's happened to him? Has he like broken a leg or something? Does anyone know him well enough to ring him? He's got a myspace account...I'll go check to see when he was last on there, but if anyone knows his email or cell number or something, maybe they should contact him, because I don't think he'd be gone for that long even if he was doing his final exams. He'd surely pop in briefly or something.

Had the coveted first pick of the draft and immediately selected super stud LT - some argue that LT is a ticket to FF success - only time will tell if this is the case.
As was the case with dspeed, didn't like the look of the remaining RBs at the bottom of the 2nd round so took WRs Reggie Wayne and Terrell Owens - you could argue that Terrell is a risk, given his attitude problems, but you can't argue against his production in previous years.
In the 4th took TE Shockey which is a solid pick, but given dspeeds draft swap should have considered RBs Ahman Green, Jamal Lewis and Brandon Jackson to complete his starters at RB
QB Tony Romo was a solid pick in Round 5, I'm sure that all Cowboys fans are hoping that Romo continues his rise in the NFL QB rankings
WR Chris Chambers in the 6th round was a solid pick and was probably the best WR available at the time
Round 7 saw the interesting pick of RB Chris Henry. With the situation at Tennessee with Lendale White, this could be a great pick, although maybe too early, could have taken Warrick Dunn or Fred Taylor.
The Carolina DST in the 8th was a solid pick, and RB Brian Leonard in the 9th an inspired pick. Leonard can run and catch the ball, and will likely be the starting fullback for St Louis from the get go.

The Warewolves draft was compromised by the draft swap involving dspeed and g.g. Without any trades, the Warewolves would have had 2 picks in between dspeed's 2 picks at the bottom of the even rounds, but after dspeed's swaps they ended up having 2 picks after dspeeds 2 picks from round 4 onwards.
Given that situation the Warewolves should have considered taking a 2nd running back earlier in the draft, however apart from that they had a solid draft and have picked up a quality team - the only question mark is at RB - mind you that's a big question mark in Fantasy Football

As the only team to have a full complement of starters after 9 rounds, JD has clearly taken the attitude that filling the roster was the number 1 priority.

With his first two picks JD filled his backfield with Larry Johnson and Cadillac Williams. The only downside I can see here is Cadillac's injury concerns, otherwise 2 very solid picks.
In round 3 decided to take the first TE, with Antonio Gates the best rated. Passed up the opportunity to take a top shelf WR (Larry Fitzgerald or Javon Walker) or QB (Donavon McNabb). Would have Antonio been available in the 4th round? I don't know
Took QB Matt Leinart in the 4th Round and passed up the chance to take Vince Young with this pick in a battle of the second year QBs, Vince projects higher this year, but Leinart has the talent around him to surprise.
In the 5th round surprised again with the selection of Chicago's DST. Chicago is clearly the number 1 with the combination of playing in the NFC North, a brutal defence and Devin Hester on special teams providing ample opportunities fro DST points. Whether or not Hester's rumoured move to the offence will adversely affect his special team production is probably the only question mark.
Could have taken WRs Deion Branch or Laveranues Coles instead of Chicago
WRs Jerrico Cotchery and Terry Glenn were solid picks in rounds 6 and 7 but they lack the potential of earlier WR picks made by others.
WR Ronald Curry was a questionable pick in the 8th round, he who would probably have been available later; Eddie Kennison, Kevin Curtis or Joey Porter were overlooked
K Jeff Wilkins in the 9th was a solid, but probably early pick IMO. A backup RB would probably have been a better pick.

Overall it's been an interesting draft for JeffDunne, the team is lacking a star wideout and yet to draft a backup RB, but apart from that, all starters are covered.

Thanks for reviewing my WareWolves, and everyone else's teams also for being generous with the grade (my first 2 picks are money for jam, but the rest are pretty risky I think)

This is actually the first time I've ever participated in a fantasy draft/league thingy (in any sport) and my biggest mistake was that I didn't read this "Fantasy Football 101" article that I've only now just stumbled across so yeah I've made some rookie mistakes (couple of homer picks, 'neglecting' RB position, taking positions in order instead of BPA, rushing my picks etc..)

Also the infamous dspeed trade (if you could call it that, more like a steal lol) has really had an effect on me because so far dspeed has taken the player I was going to take 4 times (it seems dspeed and I think somewhat alike, whereas it would have been better for me if g.g. hadn't of traded because ALL of his picks I wouldn't have considered. So in hindsight, I would have loved to been able to see what squad I could have got, but sh1t happens, thanks g.g.

Further to our discussions its a same Mizza hasnt been on... did he give some warning? I'd suggest he may have. I thought he would have had a look online by now... but anything could have happened so be careful on what you are saying guys. Be sensitive.

In the meantime I'd suggest all you blokes bitching just do some planning for your future rounds so that this draft does goe quicker as per your wishes.

Plenty of up and comers, etc to analyse and project.

Hey I offered you multiple trade offers too.

All you guys are making a too bigger deal of the trade because dspeed's team isn't at all far and ahead of everyone else's. I respect Sven's analysis and judgments, but it isn't definitive. It's just another opinion, like everyone else's, based on PAST statistics. He's suggested 'mistake selections' where others will see it was a positive. Ex, Porter > Curry?? not even based on stats. Stats would say it was the RIGHT choice completely.

He's opined that JD, Mizza, Cons, have erred picking this player over some other. Yet, with the dspeed analysis he didn't find any fault basically.

The irony is that dspeed is going to lose his division to the likes of Danielz' Babies, SammyD's Dawgs, and Cassius' Flashers.
