They had two options. Indefinite suspension until it's over, in which case they'd need a care-taker.

Or they backed him in. Which essentially means Sonja will have to go if Clarkson has an adverse finding against him.

Since she's already rolled the dice by hiring him, probably a no-brainer to stick at it. Also, being a football club President is a lot of work, so it's not like she'd lose a lot by bowing out if Clarkson has to go.
I disagree.

The third option was to be somewhere in the middle.

As I said at the time, you can support someone whilst also not going all in like a loser fan on BigFooty.

The position they took and the public statement was terribly advised and poorly worded.

Geezuz, 'you're time will come' to a female journalist?
He has issues, North have to work out if it's all worth it.

Let me think...

Yes

Time's have changed though. He's coming across as yesterday's hero. Is he the man for Gen Y. Is he able to adapt enough?

Doesn't matter, I've never seen North get so much media attention in almost 30 years of supporting them lol

You should barrack for Collingwood, we get 5 of these big stories a year.

For you guys there was the Carey and Kelly Stephens story... that story had it all.

Innocent of what?

We're at the stage where 90% of people think he's a douche just for the stuff which is on video or that he's apologised for (coward punch on Aitken, abusing child umpire, abusing lady journalist, punching lots of walls and things). Bloke is a tool for all that.

Then we have multiple corroborated stories that he's done a lot worse to players and their families. A good chunk of people believe that it probably doesn't matter what Clarkson says, because the corroborated stories are damning enough that there's not really much Clarkson could say to exhonerate himself.

"innocent until proven guilty" is a legal hurdle, not an opinion hurdle. The racism stories fit the pattern of behaviour and they're consistent and have contemporaneous evidence (text messages, emails etc).

I'm absolutely not clear why the AFL is allowing him to work at a club at the moment. He's clearly not got his anger or controlling nature in check. North Melbourne are opening themselves up to a level of negligence that could end the club if he does anything to any of their players at all. It's a massive risk they're taking by allowing him to work, knowing the history and his temperament.

And even if he could fully exhonerate himself from the racism stuff, he's still a massive douche, control freak, angry little man.
When you’re finished with your petulant fit of hyperventilation, I’m keen for you to identify the part of this tawdry rant where you identify reasonable grounds for his dismissal.

He's been a shite bloke for a long time. He had one good patch as a coach.

I always say that the best coaches need to prove it with at least two different lists before they can be greatest ever.

Leigh Matthews is the greatest coach, he got both Collingwood and Brisbane to the Premiership, Malthouse next. Sheedy did it multiple times pre-2001. I'm not sure about Chris Scott with 11 years between Premierships, don't think he can take enough credit for the first one.

Mathews and Malthouse had controlled aggression, Clarkson can't contain his aggression at junior footy child umpires or a lady in a press pack
David Parkin fits comfortably within this list, his four premierships were with 3 distinct lists of players, the Hawks in 78, the Blues of the early 80s, and the Blues of the mid-90s.

I would have suspended him indefinitely until the current accusations are adequately answered, including evidence, not just Clarkson's word or side of the story.

I think what has been reported is reasonable grounds for dismissal, if his side of the story can't disprove what has essentially already been proven.

“Your time will come” is hardly a physical threat, despite your and Aristotle Knucklehead’s attempts to portray it as such.

Reporter needs to harden up a bit, or switch to reporting on Fashions on the Field.
Cool

It's not reasonable grounds for dismissal. It might be reasonable grounds for him to be stood down pending an investigation.

“What has essentially already been proven” by whom and how?

He can't control his temper, he threatens women and he's not fit to be in charge of young men.

The accusations backed up by evidence, which the ABC proved enough to be able to publish. Clearly includes evidence and multiple confirmation and corroboration of stories.
The accusations have been denied. The accusers are refusing at this stage to have their allegations tested further. The ABC and all other media have clammed up. The reports author has since been arrested on fraud allegations.

You have to be joking.

No evidence at all.

Just untested allegations.

Wouldn't be sure if that so called evidence and testimony would hold up in a court of law tbh.

Alan Jeans?
Ron Barrassi?
Please!
