Sorry for Paddy but from a Saints PoV, I am glad we delisted him.
Hope he gives it up and concentrates on his health.

100%

im glad we took it from a duty of care perspective first and foremost

i found it really shocking to hear paddy got clearance to play with the AFL not through the AFLs own doctors or specialists but ones Paddy himself had sought out and paid for

Total failure of leadership from Gil on this one. The bitter irony that he extended his reign to attend to the CTE case yet when given the duty to prevent Paddy from being foolish he let the ball drop without a whimper. Pathetic and spineless prick he is.

i found it super bizarre... like i 100% get that he needed medical clearance to play... but to then let him nominate his own dr's seemed really really strange.

I’d be reluctant to move Owens too far from the front half.
He looks like that forward of centre player that everyone raves about.
He also looks like that big goal kicking, contested beast of a mid we have been crying out for for years e.g. Bont/Fyfe/Martin

Owens plays in a way that sort of transcends starting position. Lots of players can't really adjust when they play different positions and get very focused (understandably) on fulfilling that role. Owens can roam in a different way.

I suspect he'll be able to switch pretty naturally during games from midfield to forwardline. I think with his contested ball winning strength, it'll be hard not to play him in the midfield a fair bit, but there's no reason he can't do both.

In summary he’s just that good.

He had one good game mate - 18 disposals, 10 marks 3 goals.

The other 3 games were serviceable. After 4 games Sharman looked like the next Jack Gunston now he’s no where to be seen. We need to see a bigger body of work from Hayes before he demands a spot.

On exposed form he is behind King, Membrey, Owens, Caminitti & Cordy.
So he doesn't get a spot until he has a bigger body of work, but he can't get a bigger body of work until he gets a spot.
( He has massive good form at state league level ).
Not disagreeing with your point in general, just pointing out the issue for Hayes if we go with that philosophy.

Defenders probably get less head knocks, but yeah they still get them.
Thing is , his health is not something to concentrate on, that would become more "dwelling on it " which won't help him much. His health is fine under normal conditions without "concentrating" on it. Its like if you told me to concentrate on my ugliness. Sorry its there.

If he has to give up AFL for a mundane job, that's a huge thing in any kids life. Even if his AFL career stops now , he's probably got more satisfaction than if he'd retired after StKilda. He's 26 now, made a bit of cash ( if not a huge amout ), and proven himself to an extent. Players without medical conditions are often retired by 28, just 2 years away.

With the form of Caminiti, Pou and co ..... Hayes is definitely not a lock for best 22

King replaces Cordy .... Caminiti & King rotate between FF & CHF though the Godfather is more primary CHF option

Membrey probably replaces Pou as we would be wise to give him a general soreness rest at some stage ..... but try and get him back in to give others a rest

What a great dilemma to have especially coming into finals .... if we are a solid lock by then ..... keep the list fresh and fit and firing
King won’t be 2nd ruck.

Liam Henry....

Statistically very similar to Ryan Byrnes… except our “noted ball butcher” has a DE of 69.7% to Henry’s 58.2%!!!

58.2% DE for an outside player is so bad I’d rather stab myself in the face repeatedly than take him on.

I’d so bad Mr FNQ would rather have Sharman in twice than Henry once.

Ignore who gets head knocks playing where.

Paddy’s latest came from brushing the turf.

That is both alarming and scary.

I get he might be okay to play again next week. But John Brown was saying at the end of his career the slightest hits would drop him.

Not worth it. Walk away. Think about yourself paddy & your family.
