Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

What do you guys think of Sheldrick from Sydney. Injured last year but is fit now and not getting a run.
Love the guys work ethic.

Probably depth at the moment but I reckon he could be something

Think I said it somewhere else but we don't have room for mids that can't play elsewhere unless they are gun.

From drafting, he said he was vanilla and that LDU was the guy, doubled down when Andy was mediocre early days comparing him to Deboer and Conca IIRC.

Had the chance to backpedal when Andy started to show his goods but tripled down and is now stuck either pretending its a joke or going with the "we're all sheep" angle (and I mean literally everyone else not just Freo supporters) as if it was critical thought or something to say Andy is ****. Honestly can't tell which it is anymore.

It's not too late yyou! Come on board and enjoy Andy.
Yeah, get some Andy into you ;)

I saw Dylan Stephens has been dropped again by Sydney. I was impressed with him in the 2019 draft and we obviously stuck gold with Young & Serong then a few years later scored Jackson from the same draft.

I wonder if he's gettable (although not from WA)

He played a cracking game in the VFL late this afternoon. Personally I’d prefer the likes of Flanders and/or Stephens over Sharp.

If we got stephens we would have 5 of the top 9 in the 2019 draft on our list.
An F2 would be enough to secure him but I’m not sure he’d come here

And then we can be Gold Coast with their draft haul.

No point stocking up on old kids who want games when we have no space. Let’s develop our own first.

Honestly trade wise I think Sharp should be our only target (unless there is a better wing prospect floating around somewhere who wants to come).

I can't see us nabbing a good small forward from anyone and we have the kids to develop in every other area.

Surely after rating Oscar Allen so highly but not drafting him when we had the chance would be pissing our recruiters off to this day, and so it should - A massive blue!

There were some doubts about him including his height, it was pretty reasonable we didn't pull the trigger considering the picks we had.
Just turns out he grew a bunch more so went from potential role player to star.

JVR will be an interesting one to follow, he had some slightly different queries but went lower down the board because of them too.

He's grown no more than normal and his ability was never in question. He looked like a potential star as a junior, in his early days for WC and now he is one. Going to be a champion. Imagine him and Amiss in the same forward line.

Everyone remembers the juniors they were convinced were going to make it, they don't usually bring up all the ones they were wrong on.

He was 191cm when drafted, and a lot of people were talking about whether he'd have midfield capability.

Imagining him and Amiss would be great, but would take a longer bow to draw.
We'd have to have picked Allen at 5 (he went at 21?) or split the pick then assumed all the permutations went the same way, and then pick Amiss at 8 after Richmond was supposedly quite keen.

Not only Amiss but Johnson as well probably. If we didn't have pick 6 we probably wouldn't have taken both Ras and Johnson as we needed a KPF.
if we didn't trade cerra would we have targeted brodie? (idk when we first had interest in him). and if we didnt get brodie we wouldn't have johnson.

Exactly right. Cerra leaving could potentially have gotten us a flag in a few years.

We wouldn’t have gone for the salary dump with Brodie if we kept Cerra so instead of 7,10 and 21 we’d just have 10. So we don’t have either Amiss or Johnson. With the way those two are looking, Cerra is going to be the greatest draft pick in club history…

How’s Cornes suggesting we trade Darcy for ‘a first round pick’ because Jackson is a “ruckman” and Brayshaw and Serong need the help. Hello dickhead, we have two first round mids already who can’t get a consistent spot in the team. What a ****ing stupid flog.

One issue now is getting games into Erasmus.

He’s improving at a rate of knots, he’s passed Brodie right now because he doesn’t gas in transition. Fyfe is winding up and Aish has his first good game for the year.

Erasmus only just turned 19, he’s only slightly older than Draper. I think he pushes his way into the 22 / sub, for the 2nd half of this year. By 2024 he’s a starter.
