I mean, there are dreams, and then there are dreams.

If McKay compo triggers band 1, and Sanders is prelisted, we're halfway there.

Then F1 for GC5 and Caleb Graham is another element.

(in my dream, Powell doesn't end up on the GC)

Then the Haynes salary dump is the final piece.

So
Pick 2 - Watson
Pick 3 (Mckay compo) - Curtin
Pick 5 (GC trade) - O'Sullivan
Pick 15 - Archer Reid

F4 - Haynes (North get Riccardi, Derksen, and 2023 R3 for taking the $1-1.2m price tag)

With 3 2023 third rounders and a fourth rounder in the kitty, North get 4 of Dylan Stephens, Massimo D'Ambrosio, Kaine Baldwin, Hugo Ralphsmith, Lewis Melican, Hunter Clark, Zac Fisher to acquire two skilful back flankers, one depth KPD, and a winger.
like this someone let brady know

Debating with delusional WCE supporters has left my brain mushy, so I have a question for my fellow NMFC family just out of my own curiosity about where the consensus seems to be;

Ignoring the potential of getting Sanders via NGA allocation, but assuming media reports about McKay compensation are real:

Which draft haul would you prefer:
  1. Harley Reid (in a trade up to pick 1)
  2. Curtin + Watson
  3. Curtin + McKercher
  4. McKercher + Watson
  5. A different combination/outcome

Curtin and Watson for me

I still reckon if we managed the GC first we’d take Watson there. He’s the most likely of our top 4 to drift (even more so if WC and Demons deal on Reid). Hawks and Melbourne would feast on McKercher but they have options over Watson.

Curtin and McKercher. Curtin just adds a little bit of depth and poise to our beleaguered backline whilst McKercher adds a dimension we don't currently have to our mids

our boy hunter Clark dropped after a good game last week

Me thinks they know he’s leaving

What is Hunter Clark exactly? I don’t think he or the saints know yet.

If he’s a mid then he’d hopefully sit behind Sheez, Warlord, LDU, Jyza and Powell (fingers crossed) as centre square mids…. He attended 11 CBAs for 5 contested disposals and 1 stoppage clearance.

There’s a spot opposite Scott on a wing, but he played 77/115 mins last week so I don’t think he’s an endurance beast.

He would have to demand a spot on half back and I don’t think he’s a ‘small defender’ and so he’d be competing with LMac (the great unstoppable undroppable), Bergman and Goatinator. Based on his last games heatmap he played a fair bit in the back half, but I’d frankly rather see what B&G turn out to be.

All in all, he’ll be 25 in March 2024 and seems a lost Jack of all trades who was drafted 25 spots too high and hasn’t nailed a firm position.

We’re about to take another mid by the looks of things with pick 2, and so I would again hope they will be naturally better than Clarke by year 2 at least.

Happy to take a flier with pick 80, otherwise I’d leave and let go.

Hbf and wing rotation

The Roos are happy for McKay to leave for free agency compensation but warned this week they might match a free agency bid if it did not trigger first-round compensation, which would see them receiving the No. 3 pick overall.

In recent years the trigger for first-round compensation has been around $750,000 a season on a deal of at least three years.

Saints die hard mate reckons he’s gone if he’s been dropped.

In my dream, Shiels would stay for one last year.

Given we're bringing in Curtin, O'Sullivan, Haynes, Baldwin and Melican, I think its safe to let Dawson go.

Also: Free? Howe?

FWIW I would play him before Lmac and Lazzaro and Howe, which basically guarantees that he would play whenever he wasn't injured.

But the problem is that he gets injured a lot.

More delisting would be needed as we have to get our team back to 42 from 46. So 4 of these would be part of that..
