I think Simpson is good enough (as long as he is over concussion issues). My main point is that if this is such a poor/shallow draft year why not give them 1 year rather than having to draft this year and have to give them 2 years. Take the minimum this year and load up next year.
You're not an accountant are you?I acrually think they have a good forward mix in Marshall, Finlayson, Georgiades. Don't see Lord getting a game with all 4 for

But if having that watch is essential for his work the next year, will he let it go to his mate for free? These negotiations can be tricky. Perfectly reasonable to be letting the other party sweat at this stage. If I owned the last Rolex on earth and it was locked in a safe that I didn’t have access to, and the only bloke in the world who knew the passcode offered me RRP for it, or he’ll take it for free anyway then yeh I’d take the money. Or something like that
FFS is CS really going to be speculating to "insiders" days out from GF? I had a bit to do with high level staff at the club 20 or so years ago (yes I know!) and I got SFA from them.I agree with no one has serious inside knowledge
Some people get snippets here and there but this bloke picks up the from and calls Chris Scott apparently
That’s how in-depth he is with the ins and outs of the GFC
WTF Clayton Oliver?
AKA ...?Medical episode.......
We should ask for him thenFinlayson isn't very popular amongst the coaching staff.
Ratugolea averaged more contested marks than May and as many intercept marks as AA Wilkie. 0.2 less spoils per game than Weitering. He has plenty of upside and 6 good years of footy left in him - most of the good Butters/Rozee/JHF years. There's one factor in the Esava trade that most aren't considering - the fact that right now, they're still very much a competitor.
Yeah yeah, everyone wants to write us off - the cliff is finally here etc. But we know the club's not thinking that. A better pre-season, better luck with injuries, and we could easily be back in the top 4 (especially considering the reasonably weak competition).
So why should we give a potential competitor like Port an easy leg-up?
Sav's very much a need for them and is likely only going to get better now that he's had a year as a KPD. So why hand him off for a pick that's going to be late 20s and probably won't do much for us just to be "fair"?
Just like the TK deal, any serious rival should pay a price that makes them "bleed" a little. Maybe they should've consulted with Mackie before trading out their FR1 for a couple of second-rounders... if they didn't, that's on them.
On a related note, I was amused to see Edmund/Cornes saying how he was omitted for games. Sure, maybe a couple... but he still played 16 games and missed at least 3(?) with a hamstring injury. That's pretty good going for someone who's playing a new position in the seniors for the first time.

Well it makes sense their pay day is on the next period. You're not an accountant are you?
Sorry I was being obtuse again. I was referring to accrual accounting.Well it makes sense their pay day is on the next period.
I have studied some accounting but am not an accountant
My joke was that their performances would accrue to next year when they will get paid out in silverware....Sorry I was being obtuse again. I was referring to accrual accounting.
I'll see myself out for a while![]()
would it require their Fr2 for a Fr3 or Fr3 from us... ? They have traded their Fr1 ... meaning they can only trade picks in the future that are doubled. Currently they have two r2's
AKA ...?
EDIT: I hope he is OK. He is a great player but reading b/w the lines there is s**t around his life at the moment.
But you've got such a good track record already, especially with paying up for in-demand goods. He's thinking he has you backed into a corner. Wait, they're starting to laugh at him? I hope he comes up with something...If it meant in the future when I need another watch, other watch collectors are more inclined to sell me a watch because I didn’t hoard my Rolex when I couldn’t use it then yes. Take my Rolex and let it flourish. Let the world see your shiny new watch on your arm. I’ll go buy another watch with my money and move on

Anyone should be paying a premium for that, let alone a competitor for finals. Like people said, it's not a deep draft this year at all. When 24 becomes 29 the value of that player is a lot less than an athletic tall we have pumped a lot of games and plenty of development into.
They should be coughing up a first or equivalent. Now we know Geelong tend to get deals done without being hard arses, but even if this is how it pans out we should at least make them sweat and see what else can be squeezed out of the orange. If he goes to the PSD and gets gobbled up by West Coast so be it.
Launch the Rolex into outer space , let it do a few revolutions around the earth, at which time we can all relax because we realize the Rolex is useless because its no longer keeping the correct time (despite all the effort that's been put into over engineering the mechanisms inside the watch). It can then re-enter earth and crash land in a desert wasteland (Hawthorn). If it meant in the future when I need another watch, other watch collectors are more inclined to sell me a watch because I didn’t hoard my Rolex when I couldn’t use it then yes. More to the point, Mackie and co know very well now who they are very likely to select with that pick, so while we are asking is Esava worth pick 20-something?, they are asking is Esava a better option than player x or player y or player z?No I'm saying the 10th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 10th best player in a typical draft. But the 15th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 25th best player in a typical draft.
Given bids you'll need pick 8 to get the 10th best player so this is still a very valuable pick. But you'll probably need pick 12 to get the 15th best player so pick 12 is nowhere near as valuable as a "normal" pick 12.
It's why we're not keen on Port's pick 23 for Esava. If you think about it as more like a pick 40 because of this draft's lack of depth it doesn't seem like a great deal.

According to 9News Adelaide, the Cats are keen on the 21-year-old forward being included in any deal that would send Ratugolea to Alberton.
Lord made his debut in 2023 and played 13 games for the Power, including both losing finals. He kicked four goals in the qualifying final loss to Brisbane.
