If it meant in the future when I need another watch, other watch collectors are more inclined to sell me a watch because I didn’t hoard my Rolex when I couldn’t use it then yes. Take my Rolex and let it flourish. Let the world see your shiny new watch on your arm. I’ll go buy another watch with my money and move on
You just did. Well done.My joke was that their performances would accrue to next year when they will get paid out in silverware....
I dunno it's hard to make accounting funny
Someone who knows something about something...Not everyone is as nice as you though. If you had the last Rolex on Earth you'd probably sell it at RRP.
The Chris Scott comment was tongue in cheek, but I agree with everything your saying.FFS is CS really going to be speculating to "insiders" days out from GF? I had a bit to do with high level staff at the club 20 or so years ago (yes I know!) and I got SFA from them.

Agree 100%, and that will be the sentiment. There's one factor in the Esava trade that most aren't considering - the fact that right now, they're still very much a competitor.
Yeah yeah, everyone wants to write us off - the cliff is finally here etc. But we know the club's not thinking that. A better pre-season, better luck with injuries, and we could easily be back in the top 4 (especially considering the reasonably weak competition).
So why should we give a potential competitor like Port an easy leg-up?
Sav's very much a need for them and is likely only going to get better now that he's had a year as a KPD. So why hand him off for a pick that's going to be late 20s and probably won't do much for us just to be "fair"?
Just like the TK deal, any serious rival should pay a price that makes them "bleed" a little. Maybe they should've consulted with Mackie before trading out their FR1 for a couple of second-rounders... if they didn't, that's on them.
On a related note, I was amused to see Edmund/Cornes saying how he was omitted for games. Sure, maybe a couple... but he still played 16 games and missed at least 3(?) with a hamstring injury. That's pretty good going for someone who's playing a new position in the seniors for the first time.
AFL club’s interest in Payne has been strong enough for them to jump on a plane to meet him.Who is Geordie Payne?
Interesting.AFL club’s interest in Payne has been strong enough for them to jump on a plane to meet him.
“He’s had a few meetings with clubs. We’ve lost him a few times for training to drive to Launceston to meet with a couple of clubs,” Sharman said.
“I think Adelaide are pretty interested in him, and Sydney and Geelong have come down and met with Geordie.
“Adelaide’s had a few guys from Tassie go there. He (Ogilvie) always keeps an eye on the Tassie guys, hopefully he can look after one more.”"
Curious as to why you'd think Bowes would be more midfield with Guthrie, Clark and Knevitt playing more games (likely) next season. We badly need another up and coming smaller defender with skills. Bews is nearer the end than the beginning and Bowes will spend more time mid-field next year you would think.
Does seem quite out of character for the club to behave in this way. Not sure whether it is because:The majority on here seem to think 24 is fair. I get trying to do the best for the club but it's rare that supporters agree on the value of a player, usually Port would offer 30-40, their board would think that's fair, we'd argue for early 20s and the true value probably sits somewhere in the middle. The fact we think 24 is fair suggests it probably more than fair.
I know Wells has copped some criticism for going too soft with trades in the past but people do hold grudges and I know clubs and agents liked working with Geelong and it meant a few other things went our way. I think there can be damage done from pushing too hard.
Not sure the rules regarding that...

As I understand the rules on trading futures... its either R1 ...or R2, R3, R4. Port have traded their R1...so they are not able to trade out of those other rounds. They can obtain another pick (like Freos R2) and then they could trade either one of those but not both.
My view doesn't come from watching games. I don't follow the juniors at all.
But I have a good friend who is a senior scout in the recruiting department for an AFL club. He thought there would be guys being picked in the 20s this year that would be lucky to be rookie picks in strong drafts and that it's by far the weakest draft for depth he's seen.
I think if given the choice we would probably prefer Freo's future 2nd instead of pick 23.
Port have no Fr1. They have two Fr2's. They can trade one of the Fr2s. They have only one Fr3 and Fr4..so as far as I know they can not be moved unless they get another pick form that round. They could not give us their Fr3.... even if it mean we traded back a Fr4.You can’t trade one out at the same time you trade one back in?
We could trade in the All-Australian team and as long as Hinkley is still coaching we wouldn't be a genuine contender lolDavid King reckons Port getting Rata will change them into genuine premiership contenders and that pick 24 isn't enough. Port need to change their back 6 otherwise nothing changes and won't win a flag, so need to get it done, even if it means they pay overs.
Looking at Sanders from a stat's perspective ... 9 games, 30.6 disposals, 7 clearances. I don't think he's a chance of falling to us at pick 7.
So what was all of the hooha about him speaking to other clubs.
Bogus?
